Hey Guys,
The final few days are upon us. By next weekend the character competition will be finished and the favourite STV character of 2011 will be decided. Into the final four and standing a great chance of winning are Castiel of Supernatural and Richard Castle of Castle.
In the second of the Quarter Finals are Dean Winchester of Supernatural who takes on Daenerys Targaryen of Game of Thrones in a poll that is likely to be tough for the khaleesi. In the other Quarter Final there is Damon Salvatore of The Vampire Diaries challenging Chuck Bass of Gossip Girl in another tough poll with lots of fans sure to create a buzz...

For anyone new to the competition the rules are simple. Every day there will be a new set of polls between characters who are bidding to become the winner of the second STV Character Competition.
All you have to do is to vote for whichever characters are your favourite and at the end of the 24 hours whichever character has more votes will be the winner and will progress into the next round. There are three rounds before the quarter finals, semi finals and then the final...

I like both almost the same and probably would've voted for dean since he was the main main chacracter overall and didnt go "bad" like cas. But after fridays episode with dean killinng jewel staites character i got pist at him and I think Dean's been kinda evil like since season 6 ending. Just my opinion.

I don't watch Vampire Diaries or Gossip Girl, so I'm skipping that one. The other poll was easy as. Dean, naturally! I've never watched that other show, anyway. I wonder if Cas and Dean are gonna end up against each other... Hm. If they do, I'll still vote for Dean. (Poor Sam. So unloved.)

ReplyDeleteas much as I don't like that they're still keeping the "Dean doesn't trust Sam" issue alive, I honestly understand why Dean did what he did in the last episode.
ReplyDeletebesides, I believe all his flaws and shockingly bad things he's done over the years are a huge part of what makes him such an interesting character. He might be a hero, but there's no black or white in SPN, and there are no easy choices.
Daenerys is great, but her growing self confidence and arrogance annoys me. Perhaps I'm just spoiled about the character by the books, but it's getting harder and harder for me to care about her. This, and she's nowhere near Dean in terms of the character's depth.

ReplyDeleteevil? that's harsh. You can say many things about Dean, but he's never ever been evil. As much as I love Cas, I'd vote Dean over anyone. He's the best character EVER for me. And plus, Dean is also a huge part of why I fell for Cas in the first place.

ReplyDeleteI've been thinking that the Dean/Cas matchup will be worse than the Dean/Sam matchup because people are going to be questioning whether those who vote for Cas are "true fans" of the show. The Sam/Dean arguments are pretty tired at this point.

Any other year I'd say Dean would take it, but this year I'm thinking it's going to be very close. Cas has gotten many more votes than Dean in every round, but there will be people who jump from Cas to Dean when the two are head-to-head. Cas fans have something to prove - that Cas is an important part of the show who needs to return. The Winchester loyalists also have something to prove - that the show is about Sam and Dean and not an angel.

No one can ever beat Dean.
I had no problem with either. I do not know the other two characters because I have not had the opportunity to watch the other two shows. Dean will always be my first choice in any contest. I am a major Dean girl. Damon is okay, but I like the show but am not a massive fan of it. I like Caroline and Tyler best.

Same here. I loved Boone and still adore Ian but I just can't get into Vampire Diaries. And Dean is the clear winner in the other poll for me since it's the only show I love.

ReplyDeletethis poll isn't about who the show is about, it's simply about character, there is no rule in saying that just because Dean and Sam are the show that we can't vote for Cas because we love the character more.
ReplyDeleteIt will most likely be Dean vs. Cas and Damon or Chuck vs. Castle at this point, though my vote will be for Cas either way and probably Castle. Though in all honesty Dean will probably win either way.
ReplyDeleteDean still is on an interesting and compelling journey although now it's even darker and unpalatable for some people. Doesn't make him any less of an amazing character just because he's doing questionable things. At the moment I'm not finding Dean very likeable but I still think he's one of the best characters on TV and therefore still my favorite. :P
ReplyDeleteAgree completely, but Dany has still shown more depth of character and been on such an incredible journey in 10 episodes that she beats Dean in many seasons easily for me, sorry.
ReplyDeleteSaying that, I think most of my fav characters have been knocked out, there are far better characters on TV atm than who we have left in the comp. From my pov Jesse or Gus from Breaking Bad, most of Boardwalk Empire and GoT (esp Tyrion and Ayra), Dexter or Debs, The Doctor, Tommy from Rescue Me and Parker from Leverage are all far better than these :P

ReplyDeleteLol. You might have a point there:-P but I call it a tiny bit of poetic justice since Spn doesn't get the rating, promotion, budget regognition ect. in the real tv world. (Here in Switzerland we get the dubbed version in TV two or more years after it aired in the US, whereas NCIS, CSI, and all the rest are sometimes barely half a season behind.)

ReplyDeleteI do love Chuck but since I stopped watching gossip girl a couple of seasons ago I'm not going to vote for him. If the writers hadn't made the show and the characters so horrible in the last season then I probably would have voted for him. I am kind of surprised he is winning..
Hear hear, totally agree!! I like Cas, but him getting more votes than Dean is insane. A lot of Cas fans have become anti-Sam & Dean. But they could never have been true SPN fans in the first place in my opinion. SPN IS the Winchester Brothers!!

ReplyDeleteAnd I´m currently reading the first book (I hope to have finish the second by the time the second season airs) and I must say, Dany is much more fun on the show. (I found it strange that I didn´t care so much for Jon Snow on the show and I love him on the book and I loved every part of Dany's on the show but I´m not loving them on the book)
ehm, Dany has more depth than Dean? excuse me, how many seasons of SPN have you seen? I love GoT, but in no way has Dany more character depth than Dean.

ReplyDeleteDean is and will always be my favorite character with Damon coming second, on a tie-in with Katherine Pierce.
I went with Dean, he's been seven years on tv.. And it was really difficult to choose between Damon and Chuck.. Damon is in my opinion al little bit much reckless than Chuck so that's why I went with Chuck and his chemistry with Blair helped his case as well..
ReplyDeleteI've seen all of them, but tbh it's a light hearted/relief show for me that I watch with a mate. My personal tastes are more how I've described above, so for me Dany's character has been far more moving and meaningful to me.

ReplyDeleteWhy are you making a generalization that lots of Cas fans are anti-Sam & Dean? That's hardly fair. I think many of people are forgetting that even before Castiel appeared, there were 'brother wars' and Dean!girls were accused of hating Sam and vice versa. We're allowed to have a favorite character. It doesn't mean we hate the other characters, come on. Castiel is my favorite character but that doesn't mean I think he should be the focus of the show.

you know what, i thought the same thing about the second poll because i really can't understand why chuck bass is so popular... beats me! i didn't know he had so many fans and i can't fathomn the reason!!! but then i thought that if he'd beaten walter and, most importantly, the dunhamnator, he'd better win this effing competition, because otherwise it would be too painful!!!! walter and olivia can't just be outvoted by a mr. nobody!!!!! so i'm going to vote for him and i expect him to win... :'(

It's not that - I can understand why he killed her, and I know his character is getting tougher which is totally fitting after six years of what he's been through... what didn't sit right with me was Dean's reaction when the kid came in? He's never been like that before, and though a killer, the kid is still just a kid!! When Dean first saw him in the doorway I was holding my breath wondering what he was going to do, but the lack of remourse really shocked me! I don't like Dean any less though, I never could.

How is Chuck winning? Where are the legions of rabid Gossip Girls fans on the site? Silent but strong masses? I was under the impression that the Supernatural and TVD fandoms were our strongest.

But if you go back before the show cut to credits in look at Deans reaction when he looked into the room again at the boy he did show remorse. In im pretty sure Dean knows in his heart he got issues, but he need to take that next step with episode 4.

ReplyDeleteGive things a chance to play out. All characters in Supernatural have done questionable things and have been redeemed later. I found the scene chilling but Amy was a MONSTER who KILLED people no matter how sympathetic they made her. Madison was a 'good' werewolf to but they had to kill her to stop her killing again. Lenore was a 'good' vampire who they let go but she ended up killing again. Dean is doing his job of a hunter same as always only now the show is making us see the other side of the hunt. All the monsters any hunter in the world have ever killed could have back stories like Amy's, most could have children but because we haven't seen their side before we've been on the side of the Winchester's until now. It's a shame all guilt comes down on Dean for it when the fact is all hunters kill monsters because whether good or bad it's their instinct to kill humans it's been the whole premise of the show.
ReplyDeleteRabia Salvatore here! my Facebook login has been acting up and works sometimes so i'm using my yahoo after like 5 years. I am really surprised that Chuck has so many votes, who would have though chuck vs damon would have the most votes so far? Voted for Damon because though he's evil he's still awesome. However I do enjoy watching Chuck Bass too because he has been through so much and has very bad coping mechanisms. His whole life his father disliked him because his mother died, then his father dies and he is always trying to achieve something that will make his father proud. He doesn't really know how to have a healthy relationship because his own relationship with his family was so messed up. Blair was the only one that got through to him but he has always been self destructive so that didn't work out either. His recent antics are annoying me but hopefully the story line makes sense. Would also like to see him as a father, maybe that will force him to clean up his act. Voted Dean because he's awesome and it would take too long to write about it...
