The Killing (Forbrydelsen) triumphed at the CWA Crime Thriller Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London last night, picking up the awards for best international crime drama, best actress and best supporting actress.

The Danish cast were there in force and were popular winners. Sofie Gråbøl – looking very elegant without her Shetland jumper – even received a standing ovation in parts of the room.

Idris Elba was another popular winner for Luther, picking up what he said was his first award in the UK. A nod went to the year's best conspiracy thriller, The Shadow Line, as Rafe Spall collected the best supporting actor Dagger for his role as the disturbing killer.

  3. You should watch it!

It's one of the best crime dramas I have seen in years. Don;t take my word for it alone.... it's been nominated and winning awards all over the world where ever it's been televised.

I'm assuming the Danish version is being televised there Chestal? The US version last year was good too, but not as stellar as the original Danish series.

  4. mmmmm is it a remake? I didn't know that! but nope, the US version is the one which is going to be released here , in Spain... :/ so... was the original the one which got awards? or the US version?? :/ xD

  5. The US version is a remake. The original Danish is 20 episodes and the US is 13.  It is based on the same story but they changed it to shorten it and make it their own.

The US version was nominated for awards to so it should be worth watching.

  6. Yay for Luther!!  Still find it odd that a years old show can win awards, just seems a bit wrong, but congrats to The Killing for sweeping up I guess.
