I think the show has a certain kind of humor that not everyone likes. I've seen people either think it's hilarious, or people who don't find the humor in it at all. I never see anyone in the middle.
I'm kinda in the middle, I get what's supposed to be funny but it's a bit predictable and nothing new. Plus the canned laughter track is very off putting for me.
This show is all about crappy stereotypes about the poor and immigrants, and the jokes are (for the most part) cheap and dirty one-liners. If it were two white guys ragging on all the ethnic and poor folks around them, there would be an uproar. That the network seems to think that they can ease people's guilt over the jokes by sourcing them from down-on-their-luck white girls is just an insult to the intelligent.
The fact that this is on the air is only interesting in that it really says something about the state of American society and the fact that it is getting more tolerant of this kind of racism and classism rather than less. I hope it gets dropped, but I know that it probably won't. Sheesh...
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Meh. Does not look good... a promo is supposed to grab one's attention not make one sigh.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I really liked the pilot but have been more and more bored with it every episode since, lol

ReplyDeleteI'm going to be optimistic and choose to believe that they're saving the best jokes for the episode for a change.
