  3.  Got the book yesterday, read the first three chapters so far. Seems that it's one of the better written Supernatural novels.

  5. Ever since the Nevermore book told me that Dean was too nervous to drive in the big bad city and needed Sam to take over driving duties, I have been extremely wary of Supernatural tie-in books.  Sometimes it seems like the authors have never seen the show. That's a shame because I read the Buffy tie-in books voraciously and some of them were up their with actual TV episodes in how much I loved them.

This introduction sounds goods.  The author can write, but I'm torn.  I am willing to give one more book a shot but if it is as hinky about the characters as that Nevermore disaster, I'm done.

  6. I don't usually do books that are based on shows. Unless it's the source material like Game of Thrones. It's not the same...

  7. My biggest problem is that they are glaringly uneven because they are written by people with varying levels of experience with the show and different understandings of the characters.  Also, they are not canon and it blurs the lines between what is and what is not on the show.  I agree that only source material can be taken seriously as reading material.

  8. Instead of reading this, go read Neil Gaiman & Terry Prachett's "Good Omens"...
It's about a demon named Crowley and an angel teaming up to stop the apocalypse because they would rather keep the earth like it is.

    Sound familiar? ;)
Like we both said...source material ftw.

  9.      I just got it in the mail but I am not reading it until I finish Bobby Singer's Guide to Hunting which if you have not had the chance to do so I highly suggest reading it. So I will just have to wait but I am sure it is great just like all the supernatural paperbacks.

  10. I've read almost all the Supernatural novels and, even though I know they are written by various authors, they do seem to get better as they're going along. Nevermore was really odious, IMO.  I thought Coyote's Kiss and the Witches' Canyon books were pretty good.  I'm almost done with Night Terror.  Also not bad, although things get a little confusing as the author jumps around from character to character and to different settings.

  12. I have the book but haven't read it yet.  I finished Rebecca Dessertine's Supernatural:  One Year Gone.  It was very good.  I am reading Coyote's Kiss.  Great story so far.  Night Terror is next.
