Yay! I can't wait to find out what it's about, but it should be awesome because of Kripke and JJ.
ReplyDeleteWait.... JJ Abrams AND Eric Kripke...... this could be the best combination ever!
ReplyDeleteDude what the hell that is like geek catnip or something
ReplyDeleteha lol, I know.
ReplyDeleteWow! That title could mean a lot of things. So could “an epic adventure thriller." I wonder if JJ ever takes a vacation?
ReplyDeleteShit imagine the cast you just know it will be full of JJ regulars and former SPN actors
ReplyDeleteThis.
ReplyDeleteIs.
Amazing.
But knowing NBC they'll schedule it at the same time as Fringe and Supernatural so they can completely demolish the fan base in one foul swoop
i dont think Fringe will be around bythe time they make it tho :P
ReplyDeleteI doubt there is any relation, but 2 years ago CBS produced a pilot called Revolution for Syfy that ended up as a movie on Showtime. I never got a chance to see it, but the description from imdb is: "A drama set on a distant planet, where two families related by marriage are on opposite sides of a Revolutionary War-like conflict."
ReplyDelete*faints*
ReplyDeleteThis really does not excite me without any details.
ReplyDeleteBoth can be brilliant for sure, but they ar capable of mediocre work too....
Without knowing a cast, plot and show style ... or if the show will even be picked up I'm in wait for more information mode
sounds like romeo and juliet
ReplyDeleteI think that the minds both of Kripke and Abrams are so creative that it ain't gonna be a disappointment. Almost nobody knew the cast of Lost and actors playing Sam & Dean were practically unknown, so they can make stars and a decent plot.
ReplyDeleteThere is only one problem - it's gonna air on NBC. I remember the article on spoilertv about the NBC dramas...and I remember how good The Event became after the ratings went down. I guess that's the only reason to worry about.
Nice! I always wanted to put Kripke and Whedon into a room and see what comes out of it but I never imagined JJ and Kripke doing a project together.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Abrams has done quite a few flops lately and I don't like SPN so I don't really get the excitement :P
ReplyDeleteoh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god
ReplyDeleteI live in hope ahaa
ReplyDeleteIS THIS AN EARLY APRIL FOOL'S JOKE!?
ReplyDeleteSounds WAY too good to be true.
Well the best acting of Supernatural to me has always been the guest stars honestly.
ReplyDeleteI was familiar with half (about) of the cast of lost before hand too.
But it was not about who was on so much as who played what role. Casting the right people for the right roles is what makes or breaks a series. LOST worked so well because JJ and the team realized the had special actors and adjusted every role to fit the actor. Most series don't do that. Look at Joseph Fiennes and FlashForward... TERRRRRIBLE. It ruined the series for most people.
NBC is always sketchy like you mentioned. They are capable of creating brilliant series honestly.... but how they handle them is the problem. Kings was one of the most original and well done series in a good while, but NBC ruined it. I won't go into Heroes since we all know that story.
Oh yes, oh yes, OH YES!
ReplyDeleteFringe and Supernatural all my absolute all-time favorite tv shows. This should be good.
Ha! I understand.
ReplyDeleteI think a vacation for JJ means only writing one show at a time. XD
ReplyDeleteYeah but casting for SPN and FRINGE have both been impeccable recently, so just picture going through both Kripke AND Abrams to get a part.
ReplyDelete:D
I'm adopting a wait and see policy on this one. Having said that, if it can keep my interest and loyalty for as long as Supernatural has, then I say bring it on!
ReplyDeleteFor a newbie it would be INTENSE! XD
ReplyDeleteWith so many awesome guest stars to chose from on Abrams' series and SPN I imagine many will already know one or both showrunners and be old hats at it.
I hope it's great, but until I know what "Revolution" is exactly I can't get excited.
Looks like Fringe and Supernatural fans will have no choice but to stop hating one another. The way it should be.
ReplyDeleteKripke and Abrams together??? Throw in Whedon and this would be the best thing ever!!!
ReplyDeletethey hate eachother?? Why? Both shows are awesome!! I'm not in the US so is it the scheduling thing?
ReplyDeleteYes, the idea itself has to appease me. Make it amazing or don't make it at all, because I'd rather this futher their respective careers instead of slow them down. :/
ReplyDeleteI do not hate myself...
ReplyDelete???
Should be interesting.
ReplyDeleteAll we need is his blessing and a few scripts and it'd be 100% perfect. :)
ReplyDeleteMeh I don't like Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteIf you SPN, I wouldn't worry about it then. I am an avid fan of SPN but I like tth acting. The cast and guest stars are all incredibly talented. Some of the best acting I have ever seen has been SPN. Abrams is good also. Lost was incredible There have been Lost actors on SPN. Mark Perrigrino was one of them. He's back this season. It will really depend on the mental of both men. I do't know Abrams as well as I do Kripke. He can eiter be a genius at what he comes up with, or it's absolutely silly. I'm going to just wait and see what happens. I am not overly fond of NBC.
ReplyDeleteWhy would we hate each other. There's always been enough viewers to go around. I haven't watched Fringe because I don't have enough time in a day. I work a 40 hour job, go to school online, try to keep the house, yard, and meals going, and I write. I have a fan fiction blog and I'm working on my first novel. It's hectic. I have I am playing catch up on the shows I love by watching DVD's right now. lol One of these days I will start picking the Fringe ones.
ReplyDeleteThey better not put this on Fridays at 9.
ReplyDeleteThis is my new favorite expression btw. LOL!
ReplyDeleteThey're both excellent writers, but this is too little to be excited about.
ReplyDeleteDitto!
ReplyDeleteNowadays wary towards JJ Abrams' projects and I couldn't stand sitting though a single episode of supernatural (and I have tried), so I am really kinda skeptical about this.
I can't wait for this !
ReplyDeleteOh NO, JJ Abrams! D: Seriously not a fan of his work, especially lately. But to each their own, I guess!
ReplyDeleteIt's just, I thought Kripke was working on another show Deadman??
I was looking forward to it (yes, sorry, I was fond of Quantum Leap as a child).
I would die of happiness to have Kripke and Whedon do a show. :O
ReplyDeleteinclude jensen and jared in the show please..........or..else..atleast..one more show..that gives importance to family..like supernatural..and family relations....please.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me sad. D:
ReplyDeleteLet's all live in peace and harmony.
lol, I think I just wet myself
ReplyDeleteWith two names like that I'm very intrigued, but I'll have to know more before I form an opinion. (:
ReplyDeleteUhmm..they still have their own show to do... O.o This is exciting and all but please don't go overboard...
ReplyDeletegeeknip?
ReplyDeleteYou're well adjusted. :)
ReplyDeleteLove it. Can't wait for more tantalizing info!!
ReplyDelete"Flops" is a ugly word. Abrams is responsible for some of the most unique shows to ever grace the screen. If you doubt him, you obviously don't know "quality" television and just base everything off of the garbage that is the nielsen ratings. Any thing in his hands has most likely has a probability of 95% when it comes to getting the series picked up for at least something longer then a pilot.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of the information made "available" right now, in this day and age, with procedurals consistently abound ( not necessarily a bad thing ) and the trash that is reality shows, anything with Abrams attached should have most television watchers excited.
sounds awesome
ReplyDeletethe creators of my 2 favourite shows coming together, hopefully it works well :D
Any TV show by Kripke gets an automatic 3 episode view from me. Here's hoping that the two can spark the same magic together that they have done separately. And that the show actually makes it to air. Hey, and anything is better than Octocobra.
ReplyDeleteKripke and Whedon! That's an absolute yes! Even if it were only available on the web like Dr. Horrible. I'm excited about Kripke and Abrams, but Kripke and Whedon might cause a pre-premiere heart attack.
ReplyDeleteI think the Fringe and Supernatural war is largely a figment of imagination designed to create more website hits. I've found that many fans like them both, including me. Now if they would move into different time slots.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I hear, Deadman is still a go. No fears there. Perhaps since the collaboration with Gaiman is no longer a go, he found time to dabble in something else too.
ReplyDeleteYeah, thank you. I agree with your sentiment. When I read it I was like, OMG! SO COOL, but then I realized that is a very succint information. Just when they announnce cast i'll start hypeing about it. And Abrams is very hit and miss this days and Kripke, well, I love SPN with the passion of a thousand burning suns, but honestly? there are better things on tv.
ReplyDeleteDon't throw stones at me :D
What? No Gaiman/Kripke??
ReplyDeleteOH F**K! I was really hoping for that, The Sandman is one, no scratch that, my favorite comic book and I love Good Omens, and SPN kinda seems inspired on it sometimes (the humor, the characters, the slashiness) Oh man, so sad.
love one word title shows by these guys....its gotta be good!!
ReplyDeleteOK, so this has awesome written all over it....
ReplyDeleteUndercovers with just a trite mess.... We could argue his level of involvement, but the fact remains that he was attached to that series and it was a terrible bomb.
ReplyDeleteA lot of his work is unique like you said, and when he hits on all cylinders he is one of the best around. When he does not..... we get What about Brian and Undercovers.
I won't... I can't speak for the masses gathering outside your door though. XD
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed by your admission and will mourn you each time I watch SPN if you get stoned to death. XD
Passion for a series does not need to be predicated on artistic excellence, overall quality, originality or award show wins. We like what we like.
One word --- madness!
ReplyDeleteWow can't wait! Should be awesome no matter what it is.
ReplyDeletehaha yes I love it
ReplyDeleteI don't like to put a damper on the party, but just because it's Kripke and Abrams who are slated to write a show doesn't automatically mean it will be an awe-inspiring project.
ReplyDeleteWhile I loved Alias and Lost, I believe Abrams has had a flop or two and as far as Kripke is concerned, all I know of him is Supernatural, which I see as more of a choral success, as they found the perfect actors, writers and troupe to bring it to life.
The more I watch tv, the more I am convinced that while an idea has to be good to encourage the public tune in, the choice of actors is every bit, if not more, as important.
I thiink an example of that could be House, which with a different actor in the lead role would probably not have had such a success.
Anyway, if the show turns out to be captivating I will be first in line to watch it!!
wow. this is gonna rule!
ReplyDeleteOctocobra?
ReplyDeleteI'm scared to ask.
Woah! Another Bad Robot Production ?????
ReplyDeleteMe too...The good news is that as long as Abrams wasn't previously contracted to do "something" for NBC, that he owns his own work now !---If NBC doesn't like it, he can take it, put it on the web and pitch it to another network...
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be epic...! Can't wait to see this masterpiece!
ReplyDeleteI am still really made about that. JJ and Kojoe announced @ episode 5 that the whole format was going to change (more character and mythology driven)...but then 2 days late NBC announces cancellation! --It was sad because I could see the changes and the beginnings of the mythos taking shape --Alan Dale emerged! I There was more to Samantha that met the eye, ect --But once the cancellation was announced it was too late...
ReplyDeleteMaybe this is like a start over....
Oh, yay, that's good to hear! My, Kripke has been busy! He was going to work with Neil Gaiman? A shame that one fell through, though Sandman didn't take for me when I first tried read it. Can't deny Gaiman's wit and skill though!
ReplyDeleteMy friend absolutely loves the Sandman series, and I would've been interested seeing it adapted for TV (to see if I don't like it better that way). The two of them collaborating would've been like a little nuclear reaction of awesome.
At least we still have Deadman - thanks resting my worries on that front. 8D
I tried to watch episode one and forced my way thru it despite hating it. When episode 2 started out just as badly I quit, so I never saw any of the mythology start.
ReplyDeleteIt seems stupid to start a series as a romance novel and then move on to myth arc..... May he never do that again!
I think LOST was just one of those once in a generation (if not lifetime) series where everything came together in a perfect storm. Since they were behind in writing they tweaked the roles to the actors and it worked brilliantly! That is but one example of the ways fate seemed to almost shape the series into the masterpiece it was... I'm sure you know others too.
ReplyDeleteI hope this is brilliant and makes it past the pilot stage, but for now I'm reserving any excitement or judgement until I actually know more about the production.
This seems to be one of those projects that gets green-lighted because of name recognition. I'm sure it looks attractive on paper but NBC made this same mistake with Undercovers. I'll definitely reserve any judgement until I see some significant details.
ReplyDeleteAgree with you...the article stated that Burke and NBC are the ones who suggested the water down..
ReplyDeletethe first batch were pretty bad...but it did get better...it was just really sad, but I think, or boy I hope, that this lesson has been learned. Abrams should just stick to what works for him.
I always can't help to be a little excited since there is really only one BR production that I would say I hate...What About Brian....but, hey, can't win 'em all!
ReplyDeleteI will just hope for something with some substance...but I will be happy when we know more...
I can hear them, calling my name in the dark. They want my blood, they want it.
ReplyDeleteMy soul.Oh God, stay with me.*brutally murdered by rabid fangirls*
Yeah, I know. SPN is a very high quality product and I love it, but I know that empirically there are better shows out there. For example, Modern Family surpises me how structured and precise can be, so polished for a 30 min sitcom. It's not my favorite show, but I do appreciate how it delivers a very polished product.
But I love SPN, with the force that Melancholia deovoured earth, and its a great example of how to make an "action" show without leaving behind profound characterization and how well it weaves comedy and drama, and the unsespected sitched between them, so I don't feel like it's a guilty pleasure.
Oh you are so VERY right!
ReplyDeleteBest combo ever. Nothing bad can come out of that partnership.
ReplyDeleteI am a diehard fan of both supernatural and fringe and i have yet to develop a split personality with both me's hating eachother
ReplyDeleteI will agree with you Undercovers wasn't the best show. But I don't think it was necessarily "terrible" either. We'll just have to agree to disagree my friend!
ReplyDeleteI like to consider Abrams the king of mythology. I feel like it existed before him, but now, next to mythology in the dictionary there is a * saying "Really created by Abrams. After Alias, Lost, and Fringe he was 3 for 3 in Mythology based shows. Undercovers, he tried to do something different with ( which I can respect ), but realized mythology based shows is where his writing prowess lied. As DarthLocke4 said, by the time he tried to revert back, NBC pulled the plug and it was too late.
Loved Lost and Fringe's mythology...
ReplyDeleteAlias was better in the early years without the heavy mythology for me honestly. The Rambaldi artifacts and the endgame of the series just did not work too well for me personally. I still liked the series but I felt it faltered the final 2 years.
I think Abrams learned from his mistakes though and that is part of what made Lost so great and what makes Fringe so good.
Is it fair to blame Undercovers on Abrams? Probably not.... it's as much or more ABC's fault than Abrams' fault I would guess. That said it was still one o his projects and always be at the bottom of his resume for me.
