That was a great episode and my favorite Kenzi quote said to trick in this episode "A centuries old bar tending butt doctor". You gotta love kenzi.....
I didn't really like the whole russian Baba Yaga or whatever that was.. but I loved to know more about Kenzi .. & absolutely enjoyed her freaked out scenes.. Ksenia Solo was AMAZING no surprise there..
However, Overall, it lacked the usual "lost girl" mystery and thrill.. but again the last scene with that giant hand out of the mirror made for a lil intriguing peak into what's coming..
Not a big fan of this episode. Maybe the worst in the series. Most of the dialog felt forced and jsut did not connect with the actors. Worse yet were the curse-crazy women. It was like an acting school exercise in emotion. Baba Yaga just was wrong on all sorts of levels! It was more Wizard of Oz and less Lost Girl. Everything just felt fake, over-the-top or under-whelming.Plus frankly, while I love Kenzi... she is better in smaller doses than the star of an episode. Her witty and snarky comments got old hearing them every 30 seconds or so. It was way too much Kenzi for me.Even the end joke scene qwas disgustingly bad. "I think I will stick to baths from now on" and then they all break out into synchronized overdone laughter. Ugh!Overall just a bad episode on almost every level. The only redeeming quality was that the resolution forced Bo to free lance for The Ash.
Not too much Kenzi for me. (the whole thing about Fae Sesame Street was hilarious, btw)
I don't think it was the greatest episode either but Kenzi definitely wasn't the problem. It was almost everything else that was problematic. The episode was fine up until Kenzi went to see her aunt. It went really down hill from there.
- The introduction of Kenzi's relative was clumsily done and the shoehorning of Kenzi's troubled home life was equally awkward. They really needed a more elegant way to introduce something that important to her character.
- It was ridiculous that, despite the constant stressing of the importance of keeping the existence of Fae private on this show, Bo didn't think twice about revealing her nature to the psychic.
- Baba Yaga was an annoying, cliched version of a witch. All that was missing was the pointy hat.
- The ending was especially terrible. The corny joking and everyone laughing after Bo recovered was so bad it was almost a sitcom parody. It was all made worse by the hand coming from the mirror. Someone has been watching too many bad horror movies.
What makes this episode all the more disappointing is that the first few minutes started so well and seemed so promising. I applaud Ksenia Solo for doing so much with such a crap episode. She saved this episode from being a total failure.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I am officially coining the phrase "Kenziism". It should now be used when referring to some of the things Kenzi says.
