I remember Mary Murphy in the first season say that Canada could provide more seasons with the number dancers. Perhaps the SYTYCD will open its doors to Canadian contestants.
I almost couldn't believe it when I read the news just now... I am watching the show from Germany, so I am not familiar with the ratings. Have they been that bad?!? As far as the dancing was concerned I thought that this season of the Canadian version kicked the US versions A-S-S. They had great choreographers, fantastic dancers (Melissa, the runner-up, in particular). And most imporantly: NO NIGEL L.!!! I was so fed up with the show after watching the US finale, then I got into the Canadian S4 and rediscovered my love for it. I thought they had great talent, LOVED the impressive number of fantastic ballroom dancers. There were so many numbers this season I watched more than once, like the fantastic Argentine Tango to "Roxanne" (the Moulin Rouge version).
I only got to know SYTYCD Canada a few weeks ago - and I can already say I will miss it greatly.
Except for Luther and his "hey! hey! hey!". That drove me insane and I wanted to gag him. :D
There were good raitings. It was just too expensive to produce for the network. I read about it in this blog. http://thestar.blogs.com/realitycheck/2011/09/so-you-think-you-can-dance-canada-cancelled.html
Thanks for the info, Xindilini. Aww, what a shame... :( I just remembered something: Moses, who after four years finally made it on the show and then had to step down because of his injury... He will never have the chance to try again next year.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I'm both surprised and bummed that SYTYCD Canada was cancelled. The dancers were FAR superior to the US version!

ReplyDeleteThat would be something I guess, but I will miss the focus on ballroom dance more than hip hop that Canada had...
