I'm behind Friday Night Lights all the way tonight. One of the finest shows on TV in years, really hoping it gets recognized in it's final season. (If only because then we might get it shown in the UK).
I really think Parks & Rec deserves the comedy Emmy this year. Their season was, basically, perfect... or rather it was more fine tuned than the other contenders. But who knows. It will probably be Modern Family.
Laura Linney Jim Parsons Julie Bowen (gut tells me Jane Lynch and Betty White have chances) Chris Colfer The Big Bang Theory Connie Britton (Maybe Marguiles or Moss, Enos deserves it) Steve Buscemi Kelly MacDonald (should be Margo Martindale) Peter Dinklage Boardwalk Empire Kate Winslet (maybe McGovern) Idris Elba (I haven't seen enough to d anything more than guess honestly) Bryan F. O'Byrne Maggie SmithMildred Pierce (should be Downton Abbey) Daily Show So You Think You Can Dance Jeff Probst
The Lead Actress Drama, Supporting Actress Drama, and Mini-series or Movie categories are tough for me to call this year. A lot of BRILLIANT performances and series.
Two interesting articles related to last minute Emmy news.
First up WB and hick Lorre have pressured FOX to remove Charlie Sheen from tonight's broadcast where Sheen was supposed to present. Anyone think it's not personal still? http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/09/18/charlie-sheen-emmy-awards-controversy/
Second up: Alec Baldwin has pulled out of tonight’s Emmy telecast after a joke about News Corp CEO Rupert Murdoch was cut from a segment that he had recorded to open the broadcast. http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/09/18/alec-baldwin-emmys-fox-joke/
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
