Cool, Perry the doorman says at 1:47 that season 5 will be the last of Damages. I was afraid they would continue the show even further, since there was an interview a few weeks ago of one of the creators saying there could be a sixth season. I'll watch every episode of this show as long as they produce it but for the sake of the story, I think it's better to end next year, I'm looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteI thought season 4 was pretty, pretty, pretty good. It was far from perfect but it restored my faith in Damages, which had been almost lost during the past two seasons.
This season, there was an actual development of the story between the second and the penultimate episode, something that had not been tried in season 2 and 3. This time, like in season 1, the story was something to say throughout the season. The episodes being longer (+ 10-15 minutes), no commercial breaks and insults being allowed, all that was pretty cool as well.
The two big guest stars (John Goodman and Dylan Baker) were amazing. Much, much better than previous 'big shots' such as William Hurt, Campbell Scott and Lily Tomlin, for instance, who seemed on medication on screen. Goodman/Baker is not as good a ticket as Danson/Ivanek in season 1, but they had great characters and they played them well.
Sure, there were some middle finger situations such as Chris being alive, appearing in the staircase before it was revealed to us that the editing of the scene a few minutes ago (Borman entering the container, then 4 shots fired) fooled us, Chris was behind the door when Borman got in (even Prison Break wouldn't have tried such a cheap twist). But all in all, I liked the finale and I really liked the season.
Though I didn't get why, in the last minutes of episode 4.10, they made it look like it was a big deal Ellen signed to be a witness in the trial Michael is pulling off against his mother. It's just about his daughter's custody, it's not like Ellen is going to say to family court judge that "Patty is not fit for custody of her grand-daughter because the writers of the show make our characters having a mother-daughter relationship and she did try to kill me in season 1 — I mean, before everyone (including me) forgot about it in the season 3 premiere because it was easier for the writers to have the charaters portrayed by the stars of the show in the same room". No seriously, Ellen has no evidence that Patty is not fit to have custody of Catherine.
It's completely unrelated but anyone knows the name of the song that can be heard in the background since 1:12 through 1:47?
ReplyDeleteI so wanna see that!
