The 2011 STV Character Competition - R2 - Day 21 - Buffy Summers (Buffy) vs. Richard Castle (Castle) & Greg House (House) vs. Debra Morgan (Dexter)

Sep 26, 2011

Hey Guys,

Yesterday was a good day for the currently running shows, as Daenerys Targaryen and Blair Waldorf saw wins against Jack Bauer and Phoebe Buffay. Both characters have surpassed initial expectations from me and therefore could still spring a surprise or two before the competition reaches its conclusion.

Today sees two tough polls to call, with two titular characters Buffy Summers and Richard Castle battling it out, as well as Greg House vs. Debra Morgan in a battle that will split fans straight down the middle. It's difficult to call which way today will go!

Currently leading the prediction competition Amber English and JerMd on 42 points, with a two point gap to Dahne on 40. The field are beginning to spread out, so keep an eye out on where you are over the next few days! To see your score head HERE

For anyone new to the competition the rules are simple. Every day there will be a new set of polls between characters who are bidding to become the winner of the second STV Character Competition.

All you have to do is to vote for whichever characters are your favourite and at the end of the 24 hours whichever character has more votes will be the winner and will progress into the next round. There are three rounds before the quarter finals, semi finals and then the final...

Don't forget to tweet, facebook, google+ and spread the word about the characters and shows you love to try and boost your chances of winning.

All that is left to say, is let the battles commence...

  2. Just Castle today. Don't really care for house or dexter.

  3. Buffy and House! sorry Castle, but she's THE Slayer!

  4. Castle and House !!

  5. Caste and House for me!!

  6. House was easy... Decide between Castle and Buffy not at all! But in the end... Castle.

  7. Buffy and House today.

Buffy is one of the more influential characters on TV in my life. The series opened up the way for many of today's TV series like True Blood, TVD, Supernatural etc. It showed that a fantasy horror genre series can betaken serious on network TV and actually be a hit to boot.  a

I like Castle but It's less about Richard Castle and more about Nathan Fillion to me.

House was a fun and cynical change of pace when the series first started so I went with him since Deb is just not a very epic character in my mind.

  8. I love Castle, I really do but it's Buffy. And House.

  9. Castle and House here today, very easy decisions all round, as I've never watched Buffy and I despise Dexter, and happily those choices also coincide with my bracket.

  10. It has to be Buffy.
Her character kept me watching the series.
It's harder to keep up with Castle and House. Then again, neither will suffer from missing one of their episodes.

  11. I give up. I simply cannot predict how STV fans will vote. At least in the past I've had a good first round before crashing to the ground, but this comp has had a bunch of results already that I just did not see coming. My competitive side is on the floor, rolled up in a ball and rocking back and forth.

  12. ROFL.

I think I'll be joining you soon :)

  13. Richard Castle FTW!

  14. I had no idea how many Gossip Girl fans were on this site so that pretty much eliminated me from the running lol.

  15. Buffy and house for me

  16. Buffy =) (even though I love Castle) and House (for my bracket).

  17. Castle and Debra!!

  18. Buffy and House, although I almost went with Castle.

  19. Buffy and Debra :)

  20. Definitely Buffy and House..

    ReplyDelete
  21. It is still only Rick Castle for me. :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Seriously? Castle is beating Buffy?
Even Nathan Fillion would probably vote for Buffy.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Agree. Except I never did like House. Just chose Buffy today. So enjoyable a character and, as you say, so influential.

  24. I love Nathan Fillion and will watch anything he's on.  While Rick Castle is a great character, he isn't Buffy.  As far as influential characters go, there will never be another Buffy.  For those of you who haven't watched the show, I suggest you do.  It opened the door for a lot of shows that are popular today and Sarah Michelle Gellar proved that girls can seriously kick ass when men were dominating the screen.  So it's Buffy for me.  I hate Deborah and don't watch House so I'm not voting on that one.

  25. "While Rick Castle is a great character, he isn't Buffy." Yes, a thousand times yes.

  26. Buffy and House.Castle is cool, but she is Buffy.

  27. Buffy and House!!! <3 them both! ^_^

  28. Castle and House for  me.  Was a huge Buffy fan but this Ringer show just spoiled it for me.

  29. Easy day. Buffy and House. Also, have the Gossip Girl fans not actually watched Friends? Poor Phoebe.

  30. I don´t really like any of these shows. Voted for Buffy today because the show was allright.

  31. Difficult decision today, but I voted for Castle & House

    ReplyDelete
  32. Buffy and House for me ! I really really like and enjoy Castle, but I simply can not vote against Buffy, no way !

    ReplyDelete
  33. Tough first vote as I absolutely LOVE Castle and the Buffster, but for the sheer growth of the character (and pretty much all the characters in the series- continuing on to Angel as well) gotta go with Buffy, and for the second, House even though I haven't watched the show in some time.

    ReplyDelete
  34. 4 awesome characters, today is a hard day!! I choose Castle and House anyway :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Voted for Castle, because I'm watching it at this moment and because I've never been interested in Vampires stories.
Sorry Deb, but I had to chose the Fµç**g Doc ! He's been my favourite for long now.

  36. Buffy!
How can such a wonderful character like her be losing so early?! D:

    ReplyDelete
  37. Buffy is amazing and though I haven't seen the show, House!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Buffy vs. Castle? Not fair. Castle, then. And House, although I love foul mouthed Debra.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Love you Castle but Buffy's my girl.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I love the show Castle and I like Rick Castle, but he's no where close to my favorite character on his own show.  Buffy though still rocks my world almost a decade later.  I am more shocked that Buffy is losing than I have been in this competition so far.  Where is the Whedon love when you need it?

As for the second poll, I loathe the character of House and I don't watch Dexter so no vote for me.  Not voting for House even though I have him in my bracket.

    ReplyDelete
  41. If Buffy goes, so does my bracket so leave some space on that floor.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Bwah!  I agree.  I mean he is a part of the Whedon 'verse and that all begins with Buffy.

    ReplyDelete
  43. House of course and Buffy!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. That seems odd to me, especially since Buffy and Ringer have absolutely nothing in common.  I have been disappointed in actors before and even more so their subsequent roles but it never affects how I feel about the role i love them in.  Quite honestly, if the roles Sarah Michelle Gellar took was going to ruin Buffy for me, I would never have lasted beyond Simply Irresistible.  Really SMG?  You starred in a romantic comedy co-starring a crab?  There is no excuse for that kind of poor judgment.

    ReplyDelete
  45. How can Buffy be losing? I love Castle but come on it's Buffy!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'm right there with you. I'm normally bad at predicting, so I was expecting to be this time but I think I've been worse than I normally am.
If Buffy loses this round my bracket will be even worse.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Memo to myself next time - Never underestimate the power of Nathan Fillion.  Bye Buffy.  I wish you made it farther.  Not just because you are one of the best female characters of my TV life but also because my bracket is now hopelessly broken.  Oh well.
