Weeds - Likely to receive an 8th season

Despite season 7 being originally seen as a final season. Weeds is now considered likely to receive an eighth season
"I haven't picked it up yet but I'm optimistic" says Showtime chief David Nevins of Weeds. "I Think it still has life & is evolving".

    I'm not a fan of the show anymore. I stopped watching after the third episode this season. But hey, if the show has enough support for a renewal then good for them.

    Weeds is one of those shows i always think about stopping and them im like this is probably the last season and it just keeps getting renewed but they have me more interested with Haylia back

    I stopped watching after s6. Sometimes I think about catching up on it again, but I never do it, just don't find the motivation to do it.

    The show got boring. No sense in prolonging it. They promised it's the last season and that's why Im still watching it..to know how it all ends...

    I FINALLY dropped this show for good after this season's 4th episode.  It was so horrible I flat-out refuse to continue following this show.  I probably should have made that same decision 3 seasons ago.

    The characters are shells of who they were. Nancy went from a mother trying to support her family by selling weed during a financially hard time to a damaged woman who's addicted to danger and never learns her lessons no matter how much danger she puts herself and her family through. Shane became a murderer and Silas became a grown-up mother's boy who says he wants nothing to do with her but keeps coming back to her for more despite his bullshit. Andy has no direction anymore, if he had any to begin with, and Doug, though seems settled for now, would probably lost his direction like he has many times before. I have zero symapthy for any of them. I only have the slim hope of things getting better on this show which the show always disappoints.

    At this rate it looks like I'm not even going to be interested in an 8th season by the end of this one. My main problem is Nancy herself. Everything Joe said above. But basically for some reason this woman has lost her ability to act.

    "Shells of who they were" = because they EVOLVED. 
    Weeds is still heads and heels above nearly every other comedy scripted show on today... yes, please, let's have another season!

    I don't know, I think they're trying to set up things so that Nancy will come back to herself this season. They literally said that in this week's episode. Something along the lines of "Go back to the Nancy that raised Silas" or something. I'm still watching for now, if only out of habit.

    this show is kicking ass. Granted that season 5- 6 seemed to start slowing it down but damn once season 7 hit it was like that old flame grow into a forest fire. from what i see in this season there is no way that they are even close to finishing the story line.  those that you that hate it right know are not watching for the right reasons and should keep your mouthes shut.

    I think the whole series has been great. Everything.....from the days of Agrestic, to burning down Agrestic, to moving to Del Mar, to selling drugs in that Mexican tunnel, to marrying that Mexican drug lord Esteban, to Shane Killing Pilar, to them being on the run (which seemed a little far fetched with Doug still always being around but whatever its TV), to Nancy finally confessing to murder to cover for Shane was jaw dropping. I've been on the edge of my seat every season. I say let the show keep going if they want to. I'll still watch. =D

    Yes, shells of who they were is right. Incase you haven't noticed, the show started following the Botwins when Shane was about 10 and Silas about 15. They HAVE to grow up, they aren't going to be the exact same as they were when the show started. It would be insane to imagine an 18 year old and a 24 year old acting the same way they did when they were 10 and 15. That's illogical. 

    The show could not just stay in Agrestic for 7 seasons, that would be incredibly boring. Shane becoming a murderer was a development on his child-self. If you can recall, almost all of the characters have made a remark about Shane's mental issues stemming from his fathers death. He grew up very numb and learned to deal with pain in the easiest way, telling himself he doesn't care. Which he now really doesn't. He is EXACTLY how he should be. He killed Pilar to protect his family. They had NO other option. Kill, or be killed. 
    Silas always has a soft spot for Nancy because she's his MOTHER. Plain and simple. He does what he has to do to get by. He knows that it would kill his mother for him to just leave without coming back. He knows it's all of Nancy, or none at all.
    As for Nancy, she got a LOT more than she bargained for when she started selling dime bags to her PTA friends. Yes, she's addicted to danger but for good reasons. She had to accept that danger was a vital component in the drug dealing business. She couldn't succeed fearing danger. The danger was excelled when U-Turn threatened her with her LIFE to pay back the debt. Then she got involved with Guillermo and his crime. After that, there really wasn't any turning back. Do you honestly think a woman who had to deal with so much to protect her family could really go back into living in suburbia with a 9-5 job? No. She knows that she can't turn back and that's why she continues with the danger.
    Andy never had any sense of direction in the first place, but he tries his best in whatever situation they are thrust into. He does what he can.

    I see you bitching about how horrible the show is, but I highly doubt you could write a better version. It should go on for however long the actors and writers want it to. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Plain and simple.

    i love weeds and i hope there is an eighth.. if you have lost touch with it well sounds like a personal problem it wouldent be the same if they dident change season eight plzzzeeee.. despise the people who dislike weeds has a great amount of fans im ready fo some stevie =) idc what anyone says its as good as it has ever been

    I have been a WEEDS addict since the day season 1 first aired... and if you cancel it...Ima be one pissed off fan! This is my SHIT right here! And it is definitely relate-able! But season 8 better bring back Nancy Injured MaYBE but not dead! I even got my hubby stuck on this Show! If its cancelled...Ill cancel showtime all together!

    Noo..Weeds is one the best seriers I have seen in a very long time..I mean a whorish mother that is trying to keep her family safe and she gets bored with her life and moves around..thats what keeps each season good..you cant not have an 8th season..is she dead?? who the hell shot her? had they of not ended the series with unleft questions..it seemed like a good final episode..but if you have chance to make one more seriers to tie up the loose knots go for it..I'm going to watch it..and if they dont make another one..well im going to go my entire life with these questions in the back of my mind every time something reminds me of the show..Make another season please for the people with OCD and high anxiety that just has to know the dying questions:)

    I want this show to go on, i've watched every season and it just keeps getting better. As far as what Joe said about them being shells and not great characters. There are people like that now in life. Shane is constanly looking for mommys approval. Silas keeps coming back because thats just what ppl do. I cant stand my mother but shes my mom and she alwasys going to be around. Nancy is one of those women who marries has children and is a soccar mom. Ever since her husband passed the only thing her mentality can persieve is selling weed (I know ppl like that) and Andy is that guy that never thought deeply about the future and is trying to survive (like my brother). And Doug  is just doug he cracks me up. The characters you can find in real life their just put all in one bundle for the show.

    i do hope that a season 8 comes out...after watching the last episode of season 7 it seems like the show is going in a great direction...also, all of the adult characyters did stay the same (nancy was always addicted to danger and men...rewatch the seasons)...the ones that changed were children going through the time in ones life that they change the most...all makes sense to me

I know so many people that are addicted to this show, me being one of them! Also, if you hate the show so much, then why are you on a website about the show in the first place???     Weeds has changed my biggest issue with the show is its not real any more season 7 after wearing the wire when she goes home the feds get all the good conversations on tape about the weed and Doug rates the day by having dirt or what ever the exact situation was its lost its way. Same with the tunnel if that were real life one once she walked into the tunnel she would never of meet the drug lord she would of been killed and after her narking they would not of have a shit if she were pregnant they would of killed her so my point is started out to be one of best shows ever turned into far fetched crap I could most likely give an example from prob every episode from 6 and 7

    Correcting typos (Drug conversations not good Doug saves not rates gave not have) all in all show started out amazing view should of ended it after 6 just to end it with grace its now ran into the ground so unless its amazing miracle work from producer and writer the show will not die with honor. ~~rana~~

    It never ceases to amaze me how the peeps who trash weeds always seem to have the monopoly on emphatic rhetoric which is supposed to imply they know what their talking about. If it's sooooo awful why watch a "boring" show anyway? Guess there isn't anything better to do with your time eh? Point of fact, let's add  salt to the wound and wine about it.....of all places, on the fan site of a show they can't stand. Ahaaa Dysfunction at it's best.
    Doublethink is more apropos and precisely the motif behind the creative works of the writers. Brilliant!

    Personally speaking I've enjoyed the series for a number of reasons. It's unrelenting prowess of the storyline and certainly closer to today's western culture than most of the idiocracy seen on TV (I can't even watch it) and the loose or rather casual script that seems to flow naturally from the characters.
    I'm sure the Actors enjoy the freedom too. Perhaps, it could even be said the merit of awards is a direct consequence of the chemistry which brought this series as far as it has already.
    The end of Season 7 surely has left a enormous amount of room to draw from and paint the landscape for a saga that could see other seasons yet to come. It will (for me anyways) be interesting to follow what they have in mind for Season 8 in July.
    By far one of the better shows seen on the tube these days. Albeit poetic license required
