This is an article in the Vancouver Sun about the upcoming convention on August 26-28.. I thought everyone might enjoy reading about. Sure wish I was going.
That's one hell of a guest list. I don't think I've ever known a fan convention to score that many popular characters for a single event. Maybe that's why it would cost $110 to attend the entire weekend?
I had never been to con. I tried every year, but with a divorce and having to support a disabled adult daughter and myself while going to school online, there was no money. Last year, had extra money after tuition. Tickets and pic ops for the convention in Nashville went on sale. I bought regular tickets. i could not afford the gold. I got ops for Jensen,Jared, and MIsha, both pic and autographs. When I got there I bought autograph ops for Richard Speights and Chad Lindberg. I could not afford any other. When Richard found out it was my first con ever, he took the picture I had autographed back saying give me that. he wrote more on it wishing a wonderful first con. That was special. It took me six years to get to one. You'll love it. My first site of Jensen close up was my picture op. Oh my gosh.
Vancouver always has the best guest list. It's right there where they all are. They don't have to travel far. A large number of them are probably working somewhere up there, since so many shows are filming in Vancouver.
Never been to a Supernatural convention but they always sound so damn expensive. I mean I've had hard enough time sometimes getting the $50 or $60 for a weekend pass to an anime con + the hotel and food costs. And at Anime cons autographs and pictures are always FREE. You got a pass then you can get autographs if you stand in line for them. But I hear about these SPN cons and it's super expensive for a pass at any level then you have to pay for certain events extra, pay for photos, pay for autographs, it's insane. While I'd love to meet the stars of my favorite tv show (in fact the only tv show I watch that isn't anime) I don't condone the amount of money Creation charges for this stuff. It's highway robbery and only those with buttloads of spare cash can really afford it.
That's great! : ) Well,in April I'll go to my second Con!I went to my first one last year!I wasn't old enough to go alone before that and no one wanted to come with me.. It was amazing! So much more than I was hoping it would be!
:) I have a lot of catching up to do, I thought we gained badges just by being here......I jsut found out I needed to click the ''Reward'' button to start winning points...stupid me xD

ReplyDeleteOK, I consider myself a pretty avid Supernatural fan but I had to look up Colin Lawrence. I had no idea who he was.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'll ever go to a convention, but I'll make sure to watch any videos I can get a hold of. Good thing I'm off this weekend.
