Update 11th August: 700 nominations have been made, but there's still one more day to get your votes in!
Update 10th August: Over 650 nominations in... a few more days to get in your nominations, so get voting folks!
Update 6th August: Over 500 nominations already in. Huge amounts of characters being nominated from across the world of television! Keep them coming!
Hey Guys,
It is that time already. Some two weeks since we saw Supernatural take it's second crown in a row we will begin our hunt to find our greatest, our favourite and our best TV Show Character...
Last year we saw Jack Shephard surprise and take the title over Clark Kent in a competition that had as much controversy and drama as it did excitement and discussion. This year we're hoping for a really big and exciting amount of drama as the heavyweight characters from a variety of television shows go head to head in a shoot-out to the end.
Rules
There are of course a few rules. The way that the nominations should be written is the most important of rules for you to know.
1. As you may recall in the TV Show Competition you wrote out your nominations in the comments. To sort through these took me over 7 hours! To avoid this I've created a form for you to cast your votes. To make it easier for me, you MUST follow this format...
Full Name of Character - Full Name of Show (example = Jack Shephard - LOST)
2. You may nominate two male characters and two female characters.
3. Over the four nominations, you may only select two characters from one show.
An example would be that you could vote for Jack & Locke from LOST but therefore you may not select any female LOST characters. You could on the other-hand vote for Jack & Kate and then your other votes must be from different shows.
4. The nomination stage closes on Saturday 13th August.
The Nomination Form
Besides that, don't forget to check out the Banner Comptition for your chance to get your artistic talents as the main banner of the competition. There's still a couple more days to get in your nominations!
Good luck, contact me here @AdDHarris with any queries.
Also, make sure you comment below letting people know who you nominated for! That way you'll have an idea who is doing well and who isn't!

Richard Castle - Castle
Sarah Walker - Chuck
Kate Beckett - Castle
There are so many great characters and I'm sure that other characters that I wanted to nominate will be done by other users.
Definitely! Add to that his character arc and how much he developed, it makes him the greatest character ever imo! There was so much depth to his character :)
ReplyDeleteYou've no idea how hard it was leaving out characters like Kimball Cho (The Mentalist) Wayne Rigsby (The Mentalist) Boyd Crowder (Justified) Ava Crowder (Justified) Olivia Dunham (Fringe) Walter Bishop (Fringe) Richard Castle (Castle) Teresa Lisbon (The Mentalist) and Red John (The Mentalist) so BIG honourable mentions to all of those. Some of them i left out simply cause i know they woudn't stand a chance against the front runners. In the end, i went for these...
ReplyDeletePatrick Jane (The Mentalist)
Raylan Givens (Justified)
Kate Beckett (Castle)
Mags Bennett (Justified)
The Mentalist is my absolute favourite show, so i REALLY hope Jane gets in..C'mon Patrick!

Tough choices, these are not my 4 favourites shows ever but thse are all very good shows and all four characters are charismatic, the actors truly are involved and they're emblematic of their shows.
Thanks for doing this Adam, hopefully it'll be as fun as the best show competition.
Really looking forward to it ;) thanks for doing these competitions, it`s always so much fun !

Damon Salvatore - The Vampire Diaries
Buffy Summers - Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Kahlan Amnell - Legend of the Seeker
Seely Booth- Bones
ReplyDeleteDan Conner- Rosanne
Allison Dubois-Medium
Peggy Olsen- MadMen
You're right, Lost would not have been Lost without Jack. But for some reason, he was still my least favorite character. Not saying I hated him, he was just the least interesting to me.
ReplyDeletelove me some Jack Bauer!
ReplyDeleteSpencer Reid - Criminal Minds
ReplyDeleteAnthony "Tony" DiNozzo - NCIS
Jennifer "JJ" Jareau - Criminal Minds

It was really tough to leave out others
Dean Winchester (Supernatural) and Jack Bauer (24)
ReplyDeleteSarah Walker (Chuck) and Nikita (La Femme Nikita, not the new show, I don't know if that counts as a different character from the new Nikita).
Spike - Buffe the Vampire Slayer
ReplyDeleteCastiel - Supernatural
Veronica Mars - Veronica Mars
Temperance Brennan - Bones
Yes, I know, I'm sure I'm quite alone with my nomination for Veronica
Mars, but I don't care. She's just the best female character ever on TV,
at least imo.
Locke - LOST
ReplyDeleteBen - LOST
Olive - Pushing Daisies
Bela - Supernatural
I probably overlooked a female character that I liked more than one or two of the ones I nominated, but I really liked both of those characters.
Mal Reynolds - Firefly

ReplyDeleteWalter Bishop - Fringe
The Doctor - Doctor Who
Sarah Walker - Chuck
Kate Beckett - Castle
Peter Bishop - Fringe
ReplyDeleteRobert Chase - House MD
Olivia Dunham - Fringe
Temperance Brennan - Bones
Thanks for hosting this competition! :)
It's just so hard to restrict myself and I tend to always chose characters from current shows, because, at the moment, I'll be more invested in them than in characters from a show I might not have watched in years. But I chose;
ReplyDeleteDamon Salvatore - TVD
Jaime Lannister - GoT
C.J. Cregg - West Wing
Blair Waldorf - Gossip Girl
Just thinking, but do you have someone with different viewing habits from yours reading through the final results? Like, I know you don't watch TVD and might not know that Katherine Pierce and Katerina Petrova are the same person. Just in case one of us oddball TVD fans use both names.
ReplyDeleteWhile I think Maggie Q and Shane West are good actors, I would have to agree that CW's Nikita can't compete with Peta Wilson and Roy Dupuis as Nikita and Michael. Those two were magic together.
ReplyDeleteWalter Bishop - Fringe
ReplyDeleteTyrion Lannister - Game of Thrones
Veronica Mars - Veronica Mars
Patricia Hewes - Damages
Ellen is in top form this season :)
ReplyDeleteLove me some Leslie Knope!
ReplyDeleteAllison & Peggy ftw :)
ReplyDeleteVeronica Mars :)
ReplyDeleteQuite alone? Not quite!
ReplyDeleteVeronica AND Walter White :)
ReplyDeleteMales: Sam Winchester (Supernatural) and Jack Shephard (LOST)
ReplyDeleteFemale: Kate Austen (LOST)
Neal Caffrey- White Collar
ReplyDeleteLincoln Lee- Fringe
Katherine Pierce- The Vampire Diaries
Rachel Berry- Glee
I woul have nominated Damon (TVD), the Winchestars&Castiel, House, and Peter Bishop but I've already seen them in the comment so I chose other characters.
Rupert Giles - Buffy the Vampire Slayer
ReplyDeleteCaptain Jean-Luc Picard - Star Trek: The Next Generation
Chloe Sullivan - Smallville
Faith the Vampire Slayer - Buffy the Vampire Slayer
whenever I think of Leslie I think of her spying on people mix which is oddly full of Sting ;o) oh & bags of candy necklaces.. LMAO
ReplyDeletePeggy now is practically unrecognizable from the Peggy of episode 1. I love how she's grown into her womanhood in a man's world. And Allison.. i mean come on, she's so easy to relate to for a freaking psychic! Beautiful and flawed and smart and funny, insecure.. man i miss medium
ReplyDeleteYep I think Walter is the best flawed hero ever and Veronica the best flawed heroine ever. Period.
ReplyDeleteLikewise I think Ben is the best antihero ever and Nikita (only Peta's version... Maggie Q sucks as Nikita comparatively) is up there... Faith from Buffy may be ahead of her though.
I haven't seen the new Nikita, but I feel the same way as you do. Peta and Roy had great chemistry, plus it was a fantastic show.
ReplyDeleteTyrion may grow into my favorite antihero ever.... he hasn't done the really bad stuff yet. Have to see how he grows on TV since I know he is one of my favorite literary characters ever.
ReplyDeleteGiles BtVS
ReplyDeleteSam Winchester Supernatural
Willow Rosenberg BtVS
River Tam Firefly
Two nominations are so not enough.
I am totally stoked you put Dan Conner.
ReplyDeletePeta is Nikita, more so than the original Anne Parillaud or the US original Bridget Fonda... Maggie Q is likely in the middle somewhere with Fonda being the worst.
ReplyDeleteLike you said, Michael and Nikita (Roy Dupuis and Peta Wilson) had palpable chemistry. You felt it without trying to. Maggie and Shane struggled to get comfortable for half the season, it did get better in the second half of the season, but no where near the connection between Roy and Peta.]
The biggest difference to me is that Maggie is best in the action scenes while Peta was best at the subtle moments that truly expressed the spirit of the character. If Maggie was on a more moody and character driven show like the original LFN, it would be easily seen how she is lacking. At least the action and FX cover up her weaknesses for the most part.
Loving the surprising amount of love for Veronica Mars and Peta Wilson's Nikita!
ReplyDeleteEric Foreman- House
ReplyDeleteSheldon Cooper- TBBT
Miranda Bailey- Grey's Anatomy
Remy "Thirteen" Hadley- House
Dean Winchester - Supernatural

Dean Winchester- Supernatural
ReplyDeleteSam Winchester- Supernatural
Teresa Lisbon- The Mentalist
Allison Dubois- Medium
Me too. I wish it had 22 episodes instead of 13...
ReplyDeleteI might be in the minority, but Chloe was the main reason that kept me watching SV sometimes. I just loved that character so much!
ReplyDeleteLIZ LEMON! :) I love Liz Lemon!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any real favorites so I chose people who I thought should be included in the competition:
ReplyDeleteGob Bluth - Arrested Development
John Crichton - Farscape
Cameron Phillips - Terminator: TSCC
April Ludgate - Parks & Recreation
very nice
ReplyDeleteJack Shepherd - Lost
Chuck Bartwoski - Chuck
Sarah Walker - Chuck

Kenzi - Lost Girl
Micheal Weston- Burn Notice

GOB!!! Love him!
ReplyDeleteJack Shephard - LOST
ReplyDeleteTyrion Lannister - Game of Thrones
Buffy Summers - Buffy the Vampire Slayer
C.J. Craig - West Wing
Sam Winchester - Supernatural
ReplyDeleteDexter Morgan - Dexter
Daenerys Targaryen - Game of Thrones
Sarah Walker - Chuck
Sam Winchester - Supernatural
ReplyDeleteDean Winchester - Supernatural
Elizabeth Burke - White Collar
Parker - Leverage
Mine were
ReplyDeletePatrick Jane-The Mentalist
Alec Hardison-Leverage
Parker-Leverage
Teresa Lisbon- The Mentalist
Sam & Dean Winchester - Supernatural
ReplyDeleteFiona Glenanne - Burn Notice
Abby Sciuto - NCIS
Tyrion definitely made my short list, but I ultimately went with some characters that had a longer run than 10 episodes.
ReplyDeleteAnd in the nomination round underdogs like Patty need every vioce they can get...
This is difficult again. Unlike the Best Show competition where I know what I'm going to vote, I always have trouble deciding here. Do I nominate a character who really deserves it but won't find as much love over a character I really want to see in the competition but will probably have enough nominations to get in on their own merit? Argh it's tough!
ReplyDeleteMay I throw out a desperate plea for someone to vote Bobby Singer from Supernatural. I would love to see him in their but I don't have enough nominations.
Parker was my third choice and I felt really badly about it. I'm glad she got your nomination.
ReplyDeleteBuffy is the female character I decided would get enough nominations without my help. I certainly hope that turns out to be true or I'm going to kick myself.
ReplyDeletePeta and Roy exuded tension and chemistry. Every second they were on screen together I was mesmerized.
ReplyDeleteI doubt that Bela gets there. You can only vote for 2 people from any show. My guess is that Supernatural will get far more male nominations than female. If by some miracle a Supernatural actress gets into the contest, my bet would be on Ellen over Bela by a long shot.
ReplyDeleteI just finished season 3 of Leverage and I'm loving it. Hardison, Parker, and Elliott are my favorites but Sophie is growing on me too.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to add Elizabeth too but I didn't have enough nominations. I love how she is an accomplished woman in her own right and yet her support of Peter is so absolute. They have the best TV marriage around.
ReplyDeleteYou can only nominate 2 males.
ReplyDeleteLove the fact that you nominated Giles and Picard. Two classic TV characters. Awesome! I hope they get in so I can vote for them.
ReplyDeleteI think Chloe was the best character too.
ReplyDeleteI love Virginia Chase too. She made Raising Hope the funniest comedy this year for me.
ReplyDeleteI highly agree with these choices, even if i didn't exactly nominate like you.
ReplyDeleteI highly agree with these nominations even if I didn't exactly vote the same way.
ReplyDeleteMorgan – Dexter
ReplyDeleteFox Mulder - X-Files
Patty Hewes - DamagesSydney Bristow - Alias
Dahne Yep, my choices seem to change every year depending on my mood lol
ReplyDeleteit was a tough decision...
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me that Dana Scully would have been worth nominating in the female section. Totally forgot to include The X-Files in my considerations.
ReplyDeleteMy reasoning exactly... I attempted to not just go with the most recent shows or strongest emotions presently... OR I could have had Tyrion in my list easily.
ReplyDeleteI was close to putting Gemme Teller in place of Nikita (Peta Wilson), but in the ends I just couldn't.
apart from the easy picks of the winchester brothers (eaasily the most awesome characters on tv) i found it very difficult to think of any female charcter i could call my first or second favourite. i started wishing supernatural had had some awesome females but then i realised that if it did i probably wouldn't like the show as much. i guess there's just something about female charcters that i don't like.
ReplyDeletei eneded up nominating elena from vampire diaries coz she's probably the female i like the most of any tv show and lily from how i met your mother because she's funny, i don't hate her and she's the best i could thinkof
either way, i'm really excited for this competition
Walter Bishop - Fringe
ReplyDeletePeter Bishop - Fringe
Olivia Dunham - Fringe
Abby Sciuto - NCIS
***
ReplyDeleteThis was extremely difficult... especially the female characters.
Dr. Walter Bishop - Fringe ---- The pilot for Fring did nothing for me. Walter Bishop, however,
was a major hoot. I watched 5 or 6 eps of the show purely for this character. He kept
me tuning in until the story piqued my interest.
Dexter Morgan - Dexter --- A friend of mine finally checked out Dexter and found herself
extremely disturbed that she was rooting for a murderer. That's a great character
in my book
Faith - Buffy the Vampire Slayer --- This is not your typical one note villain. She was complex and
interesting.
Temperance Brennan - Bones --- This spot was my most difficult decision but when I thought
about it she is a a unique character with a unique voice. So, she beat out my other top
contenders Buffy and Elena Gilbert.
I also thought about nominating Walter, but then I just thought he has a realistic shot of making it anyway and so I went with the (imo) most iconic characters of Oz & The Wire. At least someone should nominate them.
ReplyDeleteGregory House- House
ReplyDeleteSheldon Cooper - The Big Bang Theory
Olivia Dunham - Fringe
Sarah Walker - Chuck
Picard! Really nice nomination, I like it!
ReplyDeleteChloe was one of the few good things on Smallville. I rarely watched the last seasons, but I always liked her.
It was a really difficult list to come up with and I must say that your list could be mine as well.
ReplyDeleteAnd a big "yay" for Veronica Mars!
Hehe, that's good to know. And I hope she'll get enough voted to get into the next stage. At least getting there would make me really really happy.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I always like reading your comments 'cause I think you've got quite nice stuff to say ... and now nominating Veronica Mars makes it all the better.
ReplyDeleteI thought long about whether I wanted to nominate Rupert Giles or Spike. I went for Spike. I'm still happy to see Giles is getting some nominations!
ReplyDeleteYou can only nominate 2 people from a TV show. I can see where it would be hard to choose among them. It's been hard for me to choose too.
ReplyDeleteLincoln Lee - Fringe
ReplyDeleteFox Mulder - The X FilesKate Beckett - Castle
Olivia Dunham - Fringe
(With special mentions to Juliet Burke - LOST and Peter Bishop - Fringe, it was hard to choose!)
I voted;
ReplyDeleteRichard Castle - Castleleonard hofstadter - The Big Bang TheoryKate Beckett - Castle
(Don't really got 2 favourite female tv character only Beckett ;D ) Goooo Castle!! ♥
That's hardly something to apologise for. ;)
ReplyDeleteNah, she's gonna kick her own way into the competition for sure. Especially with Ringer coming up.
ReplyDeleteI think we all went through the comments and checked whether we could skip nominating a favourite here and there. ;)
Me, too. It's been so long since I've seen that show, that I never really think of it when we have discussion involving old shows. But Roseanne was a great show.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, Maggie does beat the other's in the fight scenes. I would say Peta, Anne, Maggie, Bridget, when it comes to the emotional side of the character.
ReplyDeleteThe lack of emotional involvement in the characters, on my part as a viewer, is also why I'm concerned with "Nikita" faith as a show when they are leading in to SPN rather than having SPN lead into them. I would imagine that if SPN started the night, people might hang around after and watch Nikita. Whereas if Nikita starts the night, aren't you going to be more focused on the lack of chemistry in comparison to the chemistry found on SPN and maybe skip Nikita??? What do you think?
I agree. Cas is probably the only one with even a marginal chance at beating one of the brothers.
ReplyDeleteAnd Rupert Giles! Speaking of Giles didn't he have nickname from when he went bad? Was it Ripper? Or am I mixing it up with TVD?
ReplyDeleteAbby!!! yes!!!! :D
ReplyDeleteDamon Salvatore - Vampire Diaries
ReplyDeleteAndy Botwin - Weeds
Sidney Bristow - Alias
Sarah Walker - Chuck
Oh, Anne Boleyn! I should have nominated her. Ah, well, a least you got her in the mix.
ReplyDeleteBen Linus - LOST
ReplyDeleteSpike - Buffy the vampire slayer
Buffy Summers - Buffy the vampire slayer
Kate Austen LOST
Thank you for doing this again. And thanks to DarkUFO, as well.
ReplyDeleteYeah, more West Wing love. :D
ReplyDeleteSam Winchester Spn
ReplyDeleteDean Winchester Spn
Sydney Bristow Alias
Ziva David Ncis
No, that's right. Ripper. And I'm glad he's on the list.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope they both make it to the first round!
ReplyDeleteshe is a great character, isn't she?! and Beth Riesgraf plays her really well
ReplyDeleteClark Kent and Lois Lane- Smallville
ReplyDeleteDaniel Jackson and Samantha Carter- Stargate SG-1
I hope she gets through. She's one of the best female characters ever imo
ReplyDeleteYour list is great too. I'm surprised by the love Castiel's getting in the comments.
I struggled choosing between him and Troy
Castiel - Supernatural
ReplyDeleteNoah "Puck" Puckerman - GLEE
Starbuck - Battlestar Gallactica
Lt. Anita van Buren - Law and Order
peter burque - white collar baltathar -supernatural louis lane -smallville chloe - angel
ReplyDeleteHow many characters will make it to the knock out rounds?
ReplyDeleteI think it's 32 from each male and female
ReplyDeletefor me it was
ReplyDeleteRichard Castle - castle
Seeley booth - Bones
Kate beckett - Castle
and Dani Santino - Necessary roughness ( her character is soooo lovable!)
Ben Linus - LOST
ReplyDeleteAbed Nadir - Community
Santana Lopez - Glee
Ellie Torres - Cougar Town
The Doctor - Doctor Who
ReplyDeletePeter Bishop - Fringe
Temperance Brennan - BonesOlivia Dunham - Fringe
I nominated Dana Scully. I assumed that this was for all tv shows and not just current ones.
ReplyDeletehttp://VampireDiariesBeliever.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteOkay,I'm a little late and that changes my choices..I'm choosing based on the fact that Sam,Dean and Cas have already been nominated a lot of times.
ReplyDeleteBobby Singer - Supernatural
Neal Caffrey - White Collar
Ellen Harvelle - Supernatural
Kara Thrace - BSG
There were so many more characters I wanted to vote for from Supernatural,BSG,Alias,Numb3rs... : (
So many. Hard to narrow down to just two.
ReplyDeleteKarl 'Helo' Agathon - Battlestar Galactica (2004)Jon Snow - Game of ThronesRachel Berry - GleeCaroline Forbes - The Vampire Diaries
ReplyDelete1. Dean Winchester - Supernatural
ReplyDelete2. Spike - Buffy the Vampire Slayer
3. Buffy Summers - Buffy the Vampire Slayer
4. Cassie - Skins (UK)
Wow, I had exactly the same, except the last name xD
ReplyDeleteSantana! yes!! :D
ReplyDeletenow I think I should have waited :P anyway, great choices!!
ReplyDeleteAre you saying that only two people from each show will make it to the voting round? Even if Sam, Dean, and Bela all received more nominations than any other character, Bela wouldn't move on because she's a third character from the show? That's not how I interpreted the rules working.
ReplyDeleteAnd still, even though I know there's almost no chance for Bela to make it, more people have heard of her than Jaye Tyler from Wonderfalls, so she still has a better chance of moving on to the voting round than Jaye if my interpretations of the rules are correct.
No worries. I hope it is a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry. I'll make sure I don't let that happen. I had Anthony and Tony DiNozzo from NCIS as two characters in last years tournament originally :P
ReplyDeleteThis is correct... For a total of 64 in case you don't want to work out the math :P
ReplyDeleteI'd be surprised if she didn't. But you never know...
ReplyDeleteDon't forget there's over double the amount of votes as there are comments. And some communities are known to lurk and not comment as much... :P
ReplyDeleteIt is often more fun. People from the same show squaring up against each other is even more explosive :P
ReplyDeleteNo this isn't the case. There maximum nominations a show can get is 3 male and 3 female... only LOST hit that limit last year, so it is unlikely to happen this year...
ReplyDeleteDon't worry... the ones in the female section won't get counted!
ReplyDeleteYou liked flawed characters then do you? :P
ReplyDeleteI've still only seen the first episode of Breaking Bad... I think I need to rectify this...
No worries! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's the hardest nomination round of the year... :P
ReplyDeleteMulder and Scully. End of story!
ReplyDeleteVoted for Castle, Beckett, Walter Bishop, and Kate Austin
ReplyDeleteDr. Spencer Reid-Criminal Minds
ReplyDeleteKhal Drogo-Game of Thrones
__________male
Daenerys Targaryn-Game of Thrones
Abby Sciuto-NCIS_________female
So I was right. Okay, good to know. Thanks, Adam.
ReplyDeleteI just listed it on impulse and didn't change it because it would've made me overthink it....
ReplyDeleteYeah, what you call fun, fandoms call absolute torture. I just hope that characters from the same show meet each other early on. That lessens the fandom angst and hopefully makes it more interesting for everyone in the later rounds.
ReplyDeleteI think they needed to keep Supernatural in its time slot due to its content. The CW is still largely a teen network and Supernatural often touches on themes and visuals that are more mature. The first three minutes of any Supernatural episode alone make it more appropriate for a later time slot on broadcast TV. If it were on cable, it wouldn't matter.
ReplyDeleteSorry for being unclear. I was merely stating that if people can only nominate 2 people from a single show, I think more people will nominate the males on Supernatural than the females. I find it unlikely that any female on Supernatural will make it in, although I've been wrong before. If one does, it would most likely be Ellen over Bela given that Bela is generally hated in the fandom. Not with me - I liked her - but in the fandom as a whole.
ReplyDeleteYeah, some Bobby Singer love. There needs to be more of that. I would love it if he got into the contest, but I think it's not meant to be. (Huge sigh)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to start voting! it sounds like it is going to be epic!
ReplyDeleteDean Winchester - Supernatural
ReplyDeleteAugust "Auggie" Anderson - Covert Affairs
Robin Sherbatsky - How I Met Your Mother
Anna Milton - Supernatural
Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, Monica Reyes- X Files- the best show ever
ReplyDeleteHank Moody- Californication- such a crazy looser...
Tease!
ReplyDeleteOkay, yeah. Hadn't thought about that. But you're right, as fright factor goes SPN needs to go last.
ReplyDeleteYay for the Whedon love!
ReplyDeleteyes to all 4!! :)
ReplyDeleteyeah! me too!!
ReplyDeleteso excited for the competition! my picks:
