Spoiler TV - Promo Roundup - a possible new feature - comments needed *updated*

Aug 27, 2011

UPDATED 27th August: Thanks for all the feedback so far it has really been helpful in deciding what would be best for this feature. So far everyone likes the idea of a promo roundup video that you can get on media devices. However people are concerned about the number of promos and it being promos they wont be interested in. So I have a new idea:

A video showing the best promos of the week. Spoiler TV chooses some of the best promos of the week and show them on a video. That way you get some of your shows as well as possible shows that might be worth watching that week. Some names could be:

STV Promo Picks
STV Top Trailers

Again comments are welcome and thanks again for all so far.

Original Post

As usual we are always looking at ways of improving your experience at Spoiler TV. Myself and TheODI were having a conversation earlier about different things and an idea came into our minds and we would like your opinions and feedback.

The idea is simple, at the end of every week we create a video which includes all of the main and most popular shows on Spoiler TV promos and trailers. However rather than just making this a video on the site we also thought it would be a cool feature to add it to a feed which downloads to media devices (iphones, ipods, phones etc) so you can be up to date on the move.

I have created a short and quick example of how it could look (remember this is just in initial stages). Don't worry there are no spoilers, it is old promos.

Now all we need is your feedback and thoughts. What do you lilke about the idea? Can you think of a cool name for it? Please let me know via the form, comments and via email.

Thanks for all your future feedback.

Regards

CJ (CJSONIC@spoilertv.com)

  2. i think its a cool idea. will you be doing it by network? or will all promos be together?

  3. Hopefully just adding them all to one. If it becomes really popular we'll see what happens

  4. I think that it is a good idea but with many needs.
To be honest I won't watch it but it will add to this site!

  5. I think it's a good idea, but I generally prefer to read the news rather than watch it.  Thanks!

  6. It's not a feature I'd be interested in.  The promos I can't wait to see are attached to shows I make sure to watch in a timely fashion.  I catch those promos.   I dunno.  It does seem apparent I'm in a minority, tho...

  7. I would probably just watch the promos of shows I watch instead of a stream of promos that include shows I don't care about.

  8. This would actually be a great thing for new shows.  I've been seeing so many clips and pictures about so many pilots that I am getting them confused.  If we could have promos by network for the pilots I would definitely watch and be tremendously grateful.

  11. Some ideas

    Promo Watch
    Promo Catchup
    On Next Week SpoilerTV
    Upcoming Attractions

I'll add more if I think of them

  12. I think this is the best way to utilize this idea.  Otherwise, it's full of spoilers for shows you don't watch but might want to eventually.  Granted, the site is called SpoilerTV so I guess that's almost a silly thing to say, but for the most part it does a great job of letting you pick and choose what shows you want to follow and/or be spoiled about.

    I don't think it's a bad idea, but I don't think it's one I'd follow in this format.

  13. I like it in concept, but I generally see the previews when watching series.... or on site. It might be nice to see other series in case something tempts me to try out a new show, but if it's more shows I do not watch than shows I do watch I might not watch the weekly roundup anymore.

I know there are a number of series I would not watch even if I loved the guest star, because I have already tried the series and loathe it. I may be a bad sample group since I try to watch every new show I can anyway to decide if I care for them or not. For those that don't have the time or are not on site as regularly it may be a better fit.It may be one of those concepts I like in theory, but would not take advantage of personally.

I think if it were a weekly roundup for only the NEW Fall series I would watch for at least a couple weeks... or a month until I decided which series I enjoy and which I don't.

  15. Good idea but I personal can't see myself using it, as I watch promo for shows I don't watch

  16. It's a good idea.
    I'm not interested because :
I don't watch all the shows
I don't want to be spoiled about all the whows I watch
I just watch STV on my computer
I propose for the title :
    STV WEEKLY
    STV NEWS
    SPOILERS TIMES

  17. it's actually a great idea. Instead of browsing through a lot of posts, all the promos are in one convinient location. I say, go ahead with it, great idea. IGN does this with gameplay video of the week thing.

  18. I love watching promos, but only from shows that I see... so I don't see the point in putting all together in one video.. :/
The idea of seeing them in ipods, phones... it's cool, but my phone isn't a smartphone, so I won't be able to see them... :P

  19. i like the idea of promo catchup :)

  20. This is where I am. I love promos and would really like to see the promos for new shows in one go before the season begins.  During the season I really only care about the promos  for the shows I watch.  I don't have a smartphone, but if I got one this would be a cool feature so if you implement it I do think it should be available for the smartphones and Ipods, etc.

  21. i love the idea of doing a new show video but unfortunately there are so many and none are less than 4 min promos it would make the video one hour long. but thanks for the feedback/ideas

  22. It might work but like others have mentioned, the main problem you'll have to sort out is people not wanting to watch promos of shows they don't watch. Maybe it would help to have a few videos each week and group them into genre?

  23. I actually thought I wouldn't like it. But I liked it. It got me excited for a show I don't even watch, as well as a couple of episodes I've obviously already seen. I'd suggest for the actual promo roundup be sure to maintain as high of video quality possible, as well as use the best possible version of the promos you're posting, but I'm sure you've already thought of that. :P

  24. Yes, this is what I was thinking as well. I'd think that by this point, I'd have already seen what I wanted to and didn't have to watch an extended video with other shows I don't watch.

Counterpoint: It could actually get viewers to pay attention to shows they don't already watch, and spread the word about shows that go under the radar even on this site, so I could see that being beneficial.

  25. I actually have an idea that will hopefully satisfy everyone based on feedback. I'll be posting it later cos on phone at min

  26. You should do video promos by categories like, Drama, Comedy, Sci-Fi and more, because like me, I love sci-fi shows so it wont be a hard thing to do watch all sci-fi promos even if I don't watch all the shows.

I think it would be more organice that way :)

  27. it is a good idea but I'm on the fence about it
