It’s been all quiet on the Sherlock series two news front for a while, as the shoot for the three new 90 minute adventures continues. But, having just got back from the Cardiff set of the production, we can confirm a brand new piece of casting news.
Lara Pulver, who has previously been seen in the likes of True Blood (where she played Claudine Crane) and Robin Hood (Isabella), has been cast in the role of Irene Adler.

that is great and it will be interesting to see her new character
ReplyDeleteI read this rumor yesterday, but the source wasn't suret. I guess this one is seeing as they just returned from Cardiff. I'm not sure how I fell about this.
ReplyDeleteI really didn't like her as Claudine on True Blood... not at all!
However, I like hearing any news about Sherlock!
To me, she seemed harmless as Claudine. Why such a strong opinion?
ReplyDeleteI think it was as much (or more) the direction Ball took Claudine as much as the performance by Lara honestly.
ReplyDeleteClaudine is suppose to be a 6 foot tall flirty amazon that draws every man's and every woman's eye to her when she enters a room... THAT is definitely not Lara Pulver. No fault of her own I guess.
Book Claudine always added a lot of fun to whatever scenes she was in..... Claudine on True Blood was just boring and forgettable (if not for the contrast to the books).
I won't go into Sherlock disliking her role no matter how I felt about her on True Blood... or I will try to be open minded at least. Hell, for all I know I could end up liking her. I just have never seen her in any other role than Claudine.
One of the best new shows of last year! Seriously can't wait for the second series.
ReplyDeleteI just wish Sherlock had a longer season!
ReplyDeleteAh, I see. If Alan Ball is the nexus of the problem then you're going to have to stand in line. Lol. It seems that the longer Alan Ball is running the show, the further away from the source material the show gets, and the longer the list of fan complaints get.
ReplyDeleteI've got a few bones to pick with Ball myself and I don't even read the books. :)
