Shawn Ryan is writing a new copshow for CBS

Aug 16, 2011

The creator of Terriers, The Chicago Code and the FX landmark series The Shield is currently writing a new pilot for the 2012/2013 season. He's planning on selling it to CBS. Ryan teamed up with Criminal Minds producer/writer Simon Mirren.

And what's this about, you may ask ? It's a copshow about a scientist who discovers he has the psychopathy gene and he uses this 'gift' to help detectives solving cases involving psychopaths.

Okay, this looks like the pitch of a parody of a random CBS copshow, but come on, we're talking about Shawn Ryan, if it gets picked up it will be great. There was a debate a while ago about whether or not psychopathy was genetic, it looks like Shawn Ryan chose his side on that matter.

  2. let's just hope that if the show appears to be very good or very decent..then CBS won't do such a thing like FOX did to The Chicago Code.

  3. CBS would be quicker to kill it than FOX would since they expect higher ratings than others networks from what i've seen and heard. But I understand what your saying because chicago code was very good show and canceled way too soon I thought anyway.

  6. That sounds silly... But it is Shawn Ryan. I'm sure everyone feels that way lol. Really, the psychopathy gene? That's ridiculous.

  7. The Shield was amazing, second best to the Wire, when it comes to cop shows.
Terriers was cut down way too soon.
But I never got into Lie to Me or the Unit, and The Chicago Code has some serious story issues that made it very hard to fall into any rhythm.
Let's hope he finds his grove again, kind would like to see what he could do with a show that didn't have cops. Maybe something from the other side of street. But then again, he did break his teeth on Nash Bridges and is just comfortable in that world.
