Ricky Gervais made headlines -- most of them not very positive -- for making some racy jokes when he hosted the Golden Globes back in January. Critics said he'd never be invited back after skewering some of Hollywood's biggest stars and even the Hollywood Foreign Press Association behind the awards.
Now Gervais claims that NBC has asked him to return to host the awards again next year. But looks like the joke's on them now, since he's not sure he even wants to do it again.

Ugh. If he's there, I doubt I'll watch. I hated him hosting last year.
ReplyDeleteAnd it seems like he hasn't accepted yet, so he may not be hosting.
He was one of the best hosts of any awards show I have seen!
ReplyDeleteDid he make the show about him more than the awards at times? Yes..
Did that make the Golden Globes more fun? Yes!
This is the only thing that could make me actually watch the golden globes.
ReplyDeletecant see him back.. but would lovvvvveee him back :D
ReplyDeletehe was sooo funy last year.. love his humour, did he offend u? lol im just curious :D
ReplyDeletedude 100000% agree with you.. ricky has become legend at the golden globes... he owns it :D
ReplyDeleteUgh, don't find him funny at all.
ReplyDeleteI loved him, though I'm not 100% sure I love being the butt of his jokes.
ReplyDeleteYeah, let`s have Jane Lynch host. She is american, not this damm brit.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think they would ask him back but I thought he was pretty good, plus the hollywood types need someone to bash them a little sometimes for they won't be so full of themselves lol....
ReplyDeleteWhat does the fact he's british have to do with anything?
ReplyDeleteHe was over-the-top, but it added some edge to the Golden Globes. If he's willing to do it again, bring him back.
ReplyDeletehe was insanely hilarious! and of course it was all planned, both times. this is all a sceme to get more audience, to give people sth to talk about..... c'mon! i really hope he hosts the ceremony again!
ReplyDeletehe will be back, it was all planned. it's so obvious, imo. the networks do not leave anything to chance, the don't want any surprises. tina fey's speech when she accepted the mark twain award was edited. ceremonies are broadcast with a five.minute delay and the hosts' speeches are revised over and over. and the fact that they are already talking about having him back for the third year proves it all. they want controversy, they want people to talk about it, it gives them audience and popularity.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't matter to me who is hosting I will watch them anyway. One thing I can say is you either love him or hate him. He doesn't leave much room for anything else. I've lived in England for 5 years. I love their sense of humor but it isn't for everyone.
ReplyDeleteI think the Golden Globes will be better if he hosted. the other have been terrible.
ReplyDeleteHis hosting last year was one of the most entertaining television events of the 2010-2011 season. He's an amazing writer and an excellent performer, and him pointing fingers at the absurdity of some of the Golden Globe awards was perfect.
ReplyDeleteHe should do the Oscars.
ReplyDeleteHe is freakin hilarious! Some of them folks need to lighten up. They take themselves way to serious
