I've not done a "Rant of the Week" for a while but this just made me angry when I got up this morning.
Thanks to darq who sent this in to us today.
When I read it I was like WTF! In these hard economic times when people are struggling to make ends meet this simply pissed me off. There is never a need for something like this. Over $8,000 a week for a trailer! That's more than most people will earn in a month. Remember that he is also earning nearly 1 Million dollars per Episode!
This has made up my mind not to watch Two and Half Men now and I hope they cancel it.
Am I wrong? Vote in the Poll and let me know what you think in the comments.
Two and a half men? You could fit a dozen times that many people into Ashton Kutcher's enormous, luxurious trailer that he'll reportedly use while filming CBS's Two and a Half Men this season.
More than 1,000 square feet? Check. Seven 60-inch, 3-D plasma TVs? Check. Two bathrooms, a kitchen with granite counter tops, a conference area? Check, check, check.
And the network will be writing some serious checks, too – $8,750 a week – to rent the palace-on-wheels for its new star, 33, who replaces Charlie Sheen on the top-rated sitcom, reports London's Daily Mail.
The trailer, which recalls the double-decker monstrosity that Will Smith parked in New York while filming Men in Black III, has side sections and a second floor that hydraulically emerge from vehicle's main body, as well as a wireless touch screen that controls heat, air conditioning, brightness and the blinds.
If the rent seems exorbitant, check out the purchase price for one of these babies – upwards of $2 million.
Of course, if Kutcher grows fond of his new digs, he may be well positioned to spring for one. His salary for Two and a Half Men will reportedly approach $1 million per episode for 26 episodes.

And to anyone voting "He deserves it" please tell me why.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see I wasn't the only one annoyed... I would have been outraged if I cared enough about Mr. Demi Moore, but alas... I don't.
ReplyDeleteJust to think any actor would be so blinded by their own ego as to even accept this if it was offered... nay pushed onto them. No sane and well-balanced person would make a studio pay more per week for a trailer than some people make in a month or two!
Then again we are discussing actors and Ashton Kutcher in particular.... Nuff said.
Yu know damn well Charlie was happy passing out in the alley behind the studio... or in his car on his way home on Mullholland Drive... just saying....
I was thinking the same thing.... wow.
ReplyDeleteSomeone actually hit "he deserves it".
It's gotta be a Kelso fangirl/fanboy, Demi Moore trying to make amends for something bad she did, or Ashton trolls the site and is trying to rig the vote!
I'd say not watching a show just because an actor was earning a ridiculous amount of money or had a huge trailer was being way petty. If you think like that about one show then why not all shows-even CW stars are reportedly on something like 20-50 grand an episode, why not boycott those? Why go see a movie where the stars have all earned 20 million for a couple of months work? Do they deserve it? Ashton Kutcher is far from the first star to ever have a luxury trailer, make an outlandish demand, earn a stupid amount of money, just because it isn't announced in the papers doesn't mean it doesn't happen. David Beckam has like 20 cars and lots of nice big homes earns lots of money and yet when VB announced the arrival of another child they were sent thousands of pounds worth of free baby merchandise-did they deserve it? Should I stop watching football because of the stupid money footballers are on?
ReplyDeleteThe London riots last week are a prime example of where jealousy and greed can lead people, we live in a society where people earn more than others and have more than others sometimes they deserve it sometimes they dont who are we to decide? We also live in a society where people are fuelled by greed and consumerism. You choose to not watch a show because as I see it you are jealous of what someone else has and therefore you are trying to dish out punishment for that the only way you can.
If you're going to rant and make a protest then at least be consistent and above all dont be so naive as to think that Mr Kutcher is the only star who has demanded or received something like a 8.000 dollar a week trailer.
I voted 'NO' not because I think he deserves it but because having seen and been in the middle of such vial criminality just a week ago I know exactly where this kind of thinking leads.
BTW I am in no way a fan of Ashton Kutcher or Demi Moore, I'm just realistic about what goes on in Hollywood and I'm not going to stop watching a show that I watch (say SPN or Games Of Thrones) just because the stars of those shows earn more money in a week than I earn in a year.
Well just take the eight thousand off his salary, then I wouldn't have a problem with it.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't say he deserves it, but I simply don't care. He makes a shitload of money anyway, so I suppose $8750 a week is no big deal for Kutcher anyway whether he would have to pay for it or not. It sounds much, but I don't want to know for what other kind of things network burn money for.
ReplyDeleteAt least we know he wouldn't get that if his show were be on AMC...
If he was paying for it and not the studio then yeah he should do what he likes. There is no telling how Two Men will fare this season without Charlie Sheen so this is too much
ReplyDeleteIt's simply embarrassing that anyone would do this. Even if it were a star I actually liked, I would still be appalled.
ReplyDeletethats actually unreal. no-one needs a tralier like that and its completely ridiculous
ReplyDeleteit is pretty cool though, i'd like to see inside but to pay that much for it just for one person is just stupid
i've always hated 2 and a half men but this is way over the top
If Ashton Kutcher's is getting the studio to pay for this then I opinion on him has gone down severely. Never really watch two and half men so can't see myself watch it this season either
ReplyDeleteI think that is a disgusting waste of money, but I don't watch the show, nor am I a fan of Ashton Kutcher so I tihnk he's way over paid already even before this.
ReplyDeleteI agree for the most part. I think not watching a series because of how a person is off set, behind the scenes and in their own personal life is just ridiculous. I wouldn't watch their personal life on film, but I may watch them on a series or in a movie if I enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI think that one can be appalled by the fact he feels he needs this mega-trailer, but he does not feel he needs to pay for it himself and yet not be jealous or petty because of it. I watched Two and a Half Men for 8 years, I won't stop because of a trailer. I will stop if the entire show changes in tenor due to Sheen being gone and Kutcher being brought in to replace him.
Will Smith did the same thing (different model by the same company) while filming Men In Black 3 and had a second trailer just with gym equipment on top of it! One minor difference, he paid for it himself.
Good idea.
ReplyDeleteThis is sick. When I think of the Supernatural boys working 14 or longer hours per day with nothing like that. I'm sorry, Kutcher is not that good. He most certainly doesn't deserve that . I quit watching Two and a Half Men ages ago. I don't like Charlie Sheen, and haven't in a long time. The show should already have been cancelled. This is ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteWell, Supernatural hit the nail on the in The French Mistake, so in a way they made it easier to stomach, but I quit watching Two and a Half Men because I didn't like Sheen and I just got tired of all of it. I am very selective in my television watching. Most of the shows I watch are dvred or I wait and buy the season on DVD and watch it that way. To be honest, the only show I never miss on the night it is on, is Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteIt depends. I mean you also could become the actor, why didn't you :)? It's a matter of having money and I don't really care how people spend them, but on the other hand why does he need all of this? Isn't he working like 10 hours a day? So basically how many hours actor spend in this trailer except sleeping? 2-3 hours?
ReplyDeleteWhy should CBS cancel it? It's a ratings powerhouse, is extremely popular, creates a lot of buzz, DVD sales are great and it's also a huge hit internationally. They would have to be idiots to cancel it.
ReplyDeleteNo, absolutely not. I'm not saying give them a sleeping bag and a camp fire, but if they want something like this they should pay the difference (incl. the 6 extra plasma screen) between a "1 bed, 1 tv, internet and a kitchenette"-trailer and this.
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree.
ReplyDeleteIt's the best comedy of the decade ratings wise and it was in its prime ratings wise too. Even with it's lead actor fired, if they can salvage the majority of the ratings they will still have a top 5 comedy.
That's worth saving for the network.
Seriously?! I'm not sure who he thinks he is but if that's what he thinks he deserves, I don't want to know him at all. (And I say that as I gather enough change to get a carton of milk for my daughter until I get paid tomorrow...and my check isn't for a million either...)
ReplyDeleteThe fact that it is a hit is the reason it makes so much money, TV networks are simply repaying their stars for making the network money.
ReplyDeleteEnvy is just as much as sin as Greed.
ReplyDeleteI'm not rich by any means I work bloody hard for everything I have and I dont go around whining that others have more than me without seemingly have worked for it.
Dont be so arrogant and self righteous to assume that you wouldn't take up an offer like an 8 grand a week trailer if it were offered to you.
If people truly dont think stars have the right to earn the money they do or receive the perks of the job they do then maybe those people shouldn't be watching TV?!
Who are you to decide who deserves what? Those SPN bys work long hours and earn less more for a reason-for a start their show makes a hell of a lot less money therefore it can be argued that they deserve to make less in wages. Also they still earn a stupid amount of money per episode-as is the case with nearly all TV shows these days-than most people make in a year, so why arent people bitching about them?
ReplyDeletePersonal feelings towards Ashton Kutcher aside-he earns what he earns and if he gets an 8K a week trailer then thats his business.
Yes because you're obviously paying for it out of your own pocket?
