Comic actor Jay Mohr suiting up for NBC’s cop drama Prime Suspect.
Mohr will be in the show’s first season in a guest appearance that could turn into a recurring role. He’ll play slick New York City assistant district attorney John Bullock — a man considered good at his job, though not exactly on the same wavelength as Maria Bello’s Jane Timoney.

Cool, can't wait
ReplyDeleteI can never decide if Jay Mohr is just a really annoying comic actor ever or just a bad dramatic actor... either way this does not bode well for the series as far as I'm concerned.
ReplyDeleteI sort of liked him on West Wing when he played that talk show host that irritated C.J. The character was obnoxious, but then he was supposed to be. And I thought Mohr did that quite well. But I have to admit that is the only thing I have seen him in that I liked.
ReplyDeleteCan't say I'm all that excited about seeing either him or Maria Bello in this. Mind you, Prime Suspect for me is always going to be Helen Mirren.
Agreed, Helen Mirren is Prime Suspect and Jane Tennison!
ReplyDeleteI guess While I like much of the cast and the original... it needs to walk a fine line between creating it's own identity while not losing too much of the original's.identity. It has to be strong enough on its own to compare well against the original....
That could be very tough indeed considering that the original Prime Suspect is one of the best Crime Dramas of the last 20 or 30 years!
thanks
ReplyDeleteHmm. This news dampens my enthusiasm for the show a little. His characters are always so irritating.
ReplyDeleteI like Maria Bello, But yes you're right, Prime Suspect is and always will be Helen Mirrens role
