Hey. Today's thread is voiced by Dexter Morgan : Feeling the need to compare, to classify, to rank is in every person's nature. I urge you to let yourself go. Obey to your darkest, most primal impulse and vote in this poll... you know you want to.

His words, not mine. And it should be fun to vote in a poll on a show as good as The Office. I invite you to think hard and pick your favourite season, and then maybe post a comment. Embrase the darkness, let your hand guide you, enter the world of statistics.

  1. My favourite season of one of my all-time favourite comedies is season 3. Well, to me, this season, season 2 and season 5 of The Office are a step ahead of all the other seasons. I might have not laughed out loud much in seasons 6 or 7 but I enjoyed each season, except season 1. Here's how it goes : 3 > 2 > 5 > 4 > 7 > 6 > 1.

Season 3 : I think this season got everything right : Jim being gone to a new position changed the dynamic of the office, this season had Rashida Jones, etc. And I'm not one for shippers but I still remember Pam's smile when Jim asked her out in the finale.

Season 2 : Surprisingly, after a so-so first season, season 2 got me hooked from the very first episode (the Dundies), and I quickly began to enjoy the show a lot.

Season 5 : Another top-notch season, from start to finish. The Superbowl episode intro was pure epicness, Erin was introduced, the Michael/Pam alliance (I've always loved their relationship) after quitting Dunder Mifflin was awesome, plus Idris Elba in a comedic role = winning.

Season 4 : This season had two flaws : the show was unfortunately hit by the Writers' strike at the time and some one-hour episode weren't really funny. Otherwise, I don't have anything to complain about.

Season 7 : Season 7 started like season 6, with some good episodes and some episodes nice to watch but nothing actually truly fun. However, Steve Carell's departure and everything related to that event gave the writers some fuel, and thus the last 8-9 episodes of this season are some of the best in a long time.

Season 6 : Quite disappointing after a brilliant fifth season. It felt like routine most of the time, pleasant to watch but not really funny anymore, and the comparison with Parks and Recreation's brilliant second season didn't help. And I'm not a fan of Gale.

Season 1 : By far the worst season. Michael was more stupid-and-annoying than stupid-but-likable. The post-it game and the basket ball game were some of the rare highlights of this introductive season.

  2. I went with season six, although I do love season 3. 3 was the first season I watched. It's a tie between the two, I think.

  3. Season 3 wins this one easily for me because as Bunky Bunk said it got everything right.
    My order would be this:

    1. Season 3
    2. Season 2 - great season all around without messing with the dynamic of the show
    3. Season 7 - loved a lot of the episodes and they pulled out some really great ones, and Michael's departure stirred tons of emotions
    4. Season 4 - pretty good episodes suffered cause of the writer's strike
    5. Season 5 - good but had too many stupid Michael scenes, and I hated the new boss guy
    6. Season 6 - alright but some of the worst episodes imo (Mafia, Scott's Tots)
    1. Season 1 - just felt off

  4. Gotta go with S3

  5. Season 3. Jim's story arc was incredibly well executed, and we got much more of the Michael/Jan dynamic (which I loved back in S2). It also brought us The Job, which I believe is without a doubt the best episode of the entire show.

My ranking of all the seasons:

    S3
    S5
    S2
    S4
    S6
    S7
    S1

  6. S2 and S3 were both flawless I still kind of wished it had ended in S6 but i'm not ready to write it off completely yet

  7. Season three holds a special place in my heart since I wrote a grad school paper regarding an episode during that season.
