Alcide has had enough of fangers and Sookie's entourage.... until Sookie calls next time. I do give him bonus points for use of "batshit crazy" even if I don;t believe him....
Ha! I love Nan! "There have been times, I admit, I have considered being a maker, but these last several hours here have changed my opinion".I hated Marnie, not a big fan of Antonia, but this Martonia is kinda awesome. Okay, sure she's batshit crazy, but she makes for good TV. Well Hoyt was always a bit of a giant sized little boy... I guess his box labeling skills just reinforce the point.
Arlene and Terry in the same scene.... ZZzzzzzzzzzzz. At least Jason is there for comic relief to their annoying characters. Can't we kill Arlene this year? Please Mr. Ball? I promise I won't ever offer another script suggestion.... oh... well not counting killing Tara. Okay, can we please kill Tara and Arlene Mr Ball Please? I promise I won't.....
Oh Marcus please kill a skinchanged Tommy while he pretends to be Sam! Please? Oh damn I didn't even keep my script suggestion promise for 5 minutes....
Love Sookie going all Big Love on Eric and Bill. Al though I suggest a chaperon to monitor blood loss. Two vampires = twice the possible of drainage. Sidenote: Sookie needs her Grandma back to make her some hoe cakes and beans or something. Girl needs a fruit roll-up or something! Dayum.
The exorcism was such a touching moment... until Arlene's delusions of Miracles and Lafayette "You got it Bitch".
Lafayette was awfully gracious considering Mavis stepped in and took over with out permission. Go Jesus. He's got some mojo of his own.
Hoyt...quit whining. Ask a few guys who've had more than one girl friend.
Marcus is a Grade-A a-hole. (Can I give him a Grade-AAA?) What do you call a man who needs back up to fight a fight a *man* would fight on his own. Especially when you're being a baby and not accepting the fact that your wife no longer wants to be your wife.
Tommy. Tommy. Tommy. One step forward. Three steps back.
Antonia may be an, albeit justified, nutcase but she's a smart nutcase. She framed Eric and trashed the Tolerance thingy and kept her hands clean...most of the way.
Most heavy handed use of a music soundtrack....the music leading up to Jessica and Jason in the back of the truck (why did they go out side rather than upstairs to one of Bill's bedrooms?) was so intrusive as to kill the moment they were trying to build.
Why is Nan suddenly an idiot? She didn't want to listen to Bill when he warned that the witches were trouble so of course the entire situation is Bill's fault. Why am I getting the feeling they're killing her off soon?
What is wrong with the script writers this season? well over 40 minutes of talking, showing us some sub-plots like that Memphis ghost (Was that her name?), another loooong dream/vision (this time Sookie's), and then at the veeery end of episode 2 minutes of action ended with cliffhanger. Nezt episode is gonna start with what? A minute of actiona nnd then we will see some unimportant blahblahbah again? -what was the purpose of Sookie's vision/drem? I think it was just to fill some time... -Why the writers forgot about the fellowship of the sun? They would be awesome allied with Antonia! -Arent you tired of Andy? I mean, is this actor so important that they are keeping him in the show even with such lame plot line? "I wanna some V, just give me some" -what was the purpose of the sub-plot of baby kidnapping? We wasted so many time this season watching Arlene and her baby and the resolution was so antyclimatic... Just some cheesy scene of the ghost leaving LaFayette body. Is that plot leading somewhere or is that it? Over? It was just to give some charcteres (Arlene, Terry) some screen time. I need to say it again, there is to many plots this season, too many character, monster boxes and other boring things, and with scenes like this weeks Sookie's cheesy dream the show is changing into Twilight or Vampire Diaries...And her main problem is who to love, Bill or Eric. She did almost nothing this season, just taking care of Eric, dreaming, having sex...
I am wondering if anyone read the books that made replies? I did. This is the first week I don't have too much to complain about. Loved the Sookie, Bill, and Eric scene. Woooo hoooo you go girl. The possession of Lafayette was enjoyable. Since there are so many plot lines going on at once, this was a nice ending. Still not happy about Eric possession by the witch since he has been through so much this year. Martonia, I mean really? She is making more enemies than friends. I still feel Tara needs a break too. We need the Tara from the book. She was a stronger and happier person. I knew Sam's brother would show up the minute I saw that scene. Gorgeous Alcide, he would have saved him sooner. Can't believe he watched it until Tommy was a blooding pulp. Poor Hoyt, but to turn on vamps, calling them monsters, is not the Hoyt we have all come to love and respect. It is so out of character. Still I can't wait until next week.
This season has been awful. So disappointing too since at least partly based on one of my favorite books in the series. Whats with all the random crap side plots? There hasn't even been any real Sookie cept when she's having sex or dreaming about sex. Feels like Eric/Sookie is getting the shaft after Bill/Sookie was so well done in season one. Quality has gone waaay down.
Due to the constant Sookie sex dreams I get to watch this episode in record time this season as i keep fast-forwarding them. Its beyond boring now.
I actually like the witches storyline and the Lafayette stuff was kind of touching even if it doesn't relate to the main story....though I wonder if something will happen to Marnie's body and Antonia tries to take over Lafayette
- Kill Tara? Not quite yet. Season finale? - I like Nan too but I have to agree with Bill. She seems to be wrong about everything. - Kill Tommy? Yes. By all means. - Bill / Sookie / Eric? Nah. It's too "fan fiction" for me, but since it's just a dream anyway I'll give it a pass. - "You got it Bitch." Best line in the show.
Oh godz I would not want the Bill/Sookie/Eic thing to be non-dream state either.....
I think that's part of what I like about Nan... even if she is always wrong she is always confident and smarmy. Such a fun character! Seeing the scene cut to her chained down next to Bill was HILARIOUS!
It feels to me like they got so caught up in the witch story that everything else was just a big ole scramble to get something for the other cast members to do. One of the things that I enjoy about the show is that not everything revolves solely around Sookie. And it's felt like they spent so much of so many episodes setting up the Witch story that some of the other stories got minimal attention because 'we can't tie it up until ep X'. The story with Andy...has come down to basically, the same scene repeated at least 5 times. 'Andy has a V withdrawal hissy fit.' 'Andy has a V induced tirade.' Whatever his story is it has had zero movement forward. Even in this past ep...'Andy had a V induced panic attack.' They've done the same to a lesser extent with other stories as well. Sookie and Eric getting together was going along okay, but then we get two eps back to back where that goes on hold and we get Sookie visions/dreams that just feel like wasting time.
I keep forgetting about Andy when I log comments about the eps, but I have noted that Alcide's story seemed unimportant. And that's the problem, I think the way a lot of the sub plots have played out this season they all have had weeks where nothing much happened.
I've kind of liked the ghost story involving Mikey and Lafayette. It exhibits the thing that got me to stop watching ghost stories. (If you look at a number of them you notice that they all have a similar pattern...really spooky setup, then you investigate and/or find out what the ghost needs to be put to rest then you put it to rest. Movies tend to try and make the put to rest part as freaky as the setup part. But for me, once you hit the what's really happening bit it stops being creepy or scary.) Anyway, I haven't complained about the fact that the resolution to Mavis' story was so peaceful because I think that all of this is setup to having Lafayette be instrumental in dealing with Antonia.
I read the books. I enjoyed the 4th book, but disliked books 9 and 10 so much that I haven't even bother with 11.
If you're asking my opinion with regard to the elements that the show and the book 4 have in common ... happy to oblige. (if you're...not...oops)
Martonia (love that) the lead witch in the book was off screen. I find Martonia to be a much more effective villian. I get a real sense of why she's so dangerous that I didn't get in the book (the memory loss spell seemed like an accident (or backfire) to me in the book.) I love this chick that can make vampires do what she wants...even to the point of forcing them into the sun.
I disagree with your about Tara. Tara in the books was pretty much a non-character. She was like the matriarch in a soap opera. She sold Sookie clothes and (rarely) gave advice. The Tara in the show never gets a break, true, but she's always felt like whatever therapy the Tara in the books had so that she could be as together as she is...the show's Tara just hasn't had yet.
That said I think the show's Tera this season isn't as much of a victim. I think I would have been happier if she hadn't sounded so defeated when she decided to stay in Bon Temps. Other than that once she stayed she looked for a way to fight. Siding with a nutcase...not the best plan...but sane smart people in these shows can be dull. :-D
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I wanna watching.

I enjoyed the scenes with Lafayette. If people watched it properly it was actually quite a sad storyline.

I did watch it "properly". It was still boring and took up way too much airtime over the course of the season.
ReplyDeleteI agree...it seemed all over the place and just felt like filler.
