How I Met Your Mother - Jimmi Simpson to Guest Star

Jimmi Simpson has signed up to guest star in How I Met Your Mother.

The actor has agreed to play an old college friend of Marshall (Jason Segel) in the show, TV Line reports.

Pete posts an embarrassing video of Marshall on YouTube, causing Marshall to worry that it will jeopardise a potential job offer.

Simpson has previously starred in shows such as Breakout Kings, Psych, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia and Late Show with David Letterman.

Kal Penn has already signed up for a role in the new season of How I Met Your Mother, while rumours have suggested that Cheryl Cole could also have a cameo.

    yay I'm excited for this. I was just watching the first part of the Yin/Yang episodes of Psych and I forgot how hilarious he was in those episodes. He'll be great on HIMYM
