As a new NBC series, Friday Night Lights won Outstanding New Program at the Television Critics Association's awards in 2007. Four years later, as a departing DirecTV show, Friday Night Lights tonight won the top TCA award, Program of the Year. HBO's Game of Thrones was named outstanding new program during the non-televised ceremony hosted by Parks and Recreation co-star Nick Offerman at the Beverly Hilton. Oprah Winfrey got a career achievement TCA award to go with her recently awarded Oscar "for her influence through 25 seasons of The Oprah Winfrey Show," while Offerman received an Individual Achievement in Comedy Award to make up for the Emmy-nomination snub last month. CBS' The Amazing Race, whose best series Emmy-winning streak was broken last year, is starting a new one at the TCA Awards, winning the first award in newly established reality program category. Here is the list of the winners in 12 categories voted by the members of TCA, a media organization comprised of more than 200 professional TV critics and journalists from the U.S. and Canada:

Congrats to Game of Thrones! Also to Sherlock, Mad Men and John Hamm...
ReplyDelete(frankly, I don't care about the rest very much)
Yeah :)
ReplyDeleteYes! Game of Thrones deserves the TCA Award. as well as the Emmy.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Game of Thrones and Sherlock!!!!
ReplyDeleteGame Of Thrones FTW
ReplyDeleteYay for Game of Thrones. I am fed up though with Mad Men winning Drama all the time. Jeez the critics need to move on to a different show like Justified.
ReplyDeleteWell deserved Game of Thrones cast and crew!!
ReplyDeleteI get that a show winning so many awards can get boring but frankly, Mad Men is still one of the very best shows on television and it's a deserving win, season 4 was outstanding. Justified would've been a good choice too, though, season 2 was really good.
ReplyDeleteReally, really cool that FNL gets some attention for its great final season. Mad Men and Jon Hamm deserve all the accolades they get this year, season 4 was, in my opinion, the best yet. Would have liked to something other than Modern Family win comedy, but eh, at least Offerman wasn't overlooked.
ReplyDeleteFrom your mouth to God's ears! Go GoT!
ReplyDeletethat is really cool!
ReplyDeleteyay!! and Sherlock too!! :D
ReplyDeleteI agree. I mean I think there are a few other series and actors that could win on any given year, but frankly Mad Men has deserved to be in consideration every year it's aired.... Hamm too.
ReplyDeleteOnce you get to that upper level of top series, for me it's a coin flip on who actually wins and I can't find fault with any of them winning in most categories most years.
Well, the TCA award was rather easy compared to the Emmys. They won the category for best new program and the competition was not that hard. Don't know who else was nominated, but the only serious other contendors I can think of right away would be the Killing and Terriers.
ReplyDeleteThe Emmys are much tougher with for example Mad Men's excellent 4th season as competition.
First of all, Mad Men deserves all those nominations because it's an outstanding show. Period.
ReplyDeleteAnd Mad Men wasn't even the competition GoT had to fight off for this award since GoT won for best new program.
yeah!! congrats to Game Of Thrones and Sherlock!! :D
ReplyDeleteAnd even then, the members of the TCA have all been raging about The Killing (they raved after the pilot and were very angry throughout the rest of the season), so Terriers was probably the only real adversary.
ReplyDeleteYey for GoT and Sherlock. I haven´t finished watching Sherlock but the episodes I watched were amazing! and GoT certainly deserves it.
