Game of Thrones - Season 2 - Casting News - Ralph Ineson is Dagmer Cleftjaw

Today I wake up knowing who Dagmer Cleftjaw will be played by... well, kinda. Ralph Ineson has been cast in the role, but he certainly does not fit my image of the fierce and powerful Cleftjaw. Maybe he films meaner and bigger?

Winter-isComing Exclusive:
Dagmer, called the Cleftjaw, is master-at-arms for the Greyjoy’s and captains the ship Foamdrinker. He earned his nickname as a boy, when an axe blow to the face left him with a nasty scar. Ineson is a film and TV actor with some notable credits to his name. You may remember him as Finchy in the BBC version of The Office. More recently he appeared in the final two Harry Potter films as the Death Eater Amycus Carrow. He also had small roles in the films From Hell, The First Knight and Robin Hood.

Well I have now seen him in 'unrelated' scar make-up and he is a bit more imposing... whew!

According to his Lockerz gallery.
"Rough city Belfast, only been here 2 hours and look at the state of me"

Ok I like this guy more already!

  1. I have watched this guy in half a dozen projects and have no recollection of him.....

Is that a good thing or bad for an actor? I'm hoping it means he can become his role so well that no two appearances play the same - not that he blends into the background and is forgettable....

  3. I just read on his Twitter that of course there is a photo block on all Game of Thrones related makeup and wardrobe.... the scar is unrelated to the series and just happened to be applied in Belfast.

I suppose it is possible.... Looks great either way!

  4. Wow, 4 pieces of medium sized casting news in less than 24 hours! Not at all what I imagined for the role, but then I suppose we'll see what happens.

  5. That b/w photo makes the guy look like he's related to Bing Crosby.

  6. More casting!

  7. It seems like anything GoT related is enough to get me excited for season 2 these days. By the time we get to season 5 I'll need the kind of tranquilizers they use on horses.
