Hey Game Of Thrones Fans,
We're progressing further with the Badgeville badges, and Game Of Thrones is to be the next show to have STV show specific badges, where you score points and badges for engaging in posts that are solely Game Of Thones based. Points are scored by commenting, tweeting, facebook-like-ing and using the google+ link amongst other things...
This follows from the Supernatural, Fringe, Vampire Diaries & Chuck (Dexter is being released soon as well) badges we have already launched... For more information on Badgeville on STV head HERE
Of course we need to design the badges for this, and seeing as you as fans are important to us and know who is a great character on the show and who is not, we thought we'd let you pick the faces that will be on the badges.
For this show absolutely every main, recurring and guest star is in one poll, as the show is very much an ensemble piece
All you need to do is vote for the 5 characters you feel are most worthy of a place on the 10 badges we will initially create... That means you can select up to 5 characters then press the vote button... I've included all the important multi-episode characters I can find but if there's someone else you want to nominate who isn't included, stick them in the 'other' option :D There's so many characters in Game Of Thrones its almost impossible to include everyone but I think I got them all! :P The top nominations will appear on the badges in that rank order!

Devastatingly difficult to choose from the huge amount of characters, but I went with Eddard, Daeneyrs, Tyrion, Khal Drogo and Lord Varys... would happily chose another 10 more...

This may be the first poll EVER (and possibly last as well) that I feel absolutely no sense of wrong answer. there are just too many good fully developed, well-acted characters that are important to the plot and deserve their own badges and fans.

And I added Sansa (someone's gotta love her) and Joff - there's something about the stupid, selfish narcissistic boy charm. Yeah, I ship Sanrey all the way. But I'm still just halfway through Clash Of Kings, so we'll see.

The Annual GoT Quint-Comp (Favourite psycho, favourite incestuous person, favourite execution, favourite executed person, favourite misunderstood vile snake of a character). The summer hell-atus will seem like a long forgotten dream.
Voted for Arya, Cersei, Daenerys, Jon Snow and Tyrion since I believe that they will be the most important characters following the 1st book.

ReplyDeleteTotally agree with those 5 being most important , but I think one can make a case for Ned and Robert being as or more important in the first season.
ReplyDeleteIf we get new badges every season (yes I'm suggesting more work for you Adam) it would be cool to have the more important roles each year. Of course the 5 you mentioned could be considered most important for the next 4 seasons too.
It's funny... every other badge poll I have picked the most important characters to the series, but with Game of thrones I just chose my favorite portrayals in the series. Odd.

ReplyDeleteJaimie - idk hes actually kinda awesome, if you look past that incest and pushing poor little Bran from that tower thing.
Bran - i have high hopes for him, being all supernatural in his dreams and all, also he is pretty decent actor for his age.
Robb - i dont know why really, but from last few episodes i really started to like him
Jon - but that might be only because hes in epic location with zombies and stuff and his direwolf is made of pure awesome
btw it was tought deciding between Bran and Arya but Bran got crippled ffs, poor kid deserves to be on my list.

ReplyDeleteOh, no It doesn´t look like Jaime is gonnabe in the top 5. I love Jaime, maybe it´s because of his part in the books. Or maybe it´s just because I think Nicolaj C-W, does such an amazing job making us like a guy, who sleeps with his sister and pushes little boys out the window.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing to see how different people voted. All the characters are just so damn good. I agree with who ever it was that suggested that we vote again after season 2 . I think we are gonna love some of the new characters as much as all of these. Just can´t wait to see Brienne.

ReplyDelete2. I'm REALLY excited that people seem to be so into GoT here. I knew that we were a fairly vocal fanbase on STV, but I thought that we were small. Now, we get to be maybe the 6th show getting the badgeville treatment (after the likes of SPN, TVD, Fringe, and Chuck).

Only Five!!! Obviously I would have included all of the Starks with the exception of Sansa who failed to tell the truth about Joffrey and the Wolf and the butchers boy had to die due to her cowardice and foolish crush on that little sissified bitch boy king. From the House of Lannister only Tyrion would be included as the rest of them are a bunch of incestuous devils. Pretty much all of the Baratheons despite their many flaws they were always loyal friends to the Starks. Danaerys totally rocks as the surrogate Mother of Dragons, and one of my favorite moments was when her brother Viserys got what he deserved when Drogo " Crowned " him. The wild card in all this is the Starks ward Greyjoy, I believe that he will play a larger role in the second season, and he did save Brans life in the woods. Speaking of which I have a feeling that despite his physical challenges Bran will find a way to become relevant as time marches on. Looking forward to the next season ... the wait seems like an eternity and I am tempted to read the second book though it seems better to wait for when I read the first book after watching the series I can hear the dialogue in my head spoken in the voices of the respective actors and imagine them in my minds eye just as they are in the show. The show stays remarkably true to the book with most of the dialogue being verbatim. Best show ever ... it is to TV what The Lord of the Rings was to the Big Screen. Bravo HBO job well done!!!

ReplyDeleteI think Jaime was the biggest revelation of the series for me. He was the one actor that highlighted a character in such a way I appreciated the role MORE than from reading the books.
I knew Tyrion rocked, Arya always drew me in, Jon had a great story, but Jaime Lannister? I appreciated him on a completely new level and it was entirely due to Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's performance.
Most of the casting was brilliant and did exceptionally well portraying their parts from the book. NCW went beyond what the book had for me.

ReplyDeleteI have to say that I feel a little of the same with Dany. I´m not totally crazy about her in the books, but in the series, she is one of my favorites.
Tyrion is awesome, in all the books and the series. He has a great storyline, so there is a lot to work with. Same with Jon Snow. I love everything about the wall.

ReplyDeleteIt's the too many choices issue. Jaime is absolutely awesome. But there are just too many awesome characters in one show. He got my vote though. Incestuous attempted childmurderer that he is, he's also done a great job of portraying the resentment that is so inherent in Jaime over the whole Aerys thing, I think.
ReplyDeleteLol, Catelyn is a pretty polarizing character, eh? She's one of my favourites. Sure, she can be frustratingly maternal, but she's one of the most intelligent characters in the series. In the books, her insights are key. And I loved the slight change at the end of S1 where, instead of arguing that they ought to sue for peace like in the book, she told Robb that they were going to kill them all!
ReplyDeleteThen again, I really like the polarizing characters. Sansa, Littlefinger, Varys, etc. (Going into later books... I don't know anyone who liked Sansa in Book 1).
I like her a little in book 3... but I think I hate her because of her hate for Jon... he's one of my fave characters! and I need to read book 4 and 5 yet, but at the moment, i still hate Sansa! XD and also LIttlefinger... ugh XD Varys is a not hate-not love one for me! :P

ReplyDeleteRight, the Jon hate is a lot more intense in the books than the show where she actually tells him that it should have been him who fell. Fair enough. I think it makes her a more complex character, which makes her more interesting. I get why she would hate him, even though he's awesome.
