Fringe - Season 4 - FOX Not Expecting Growth in Ratings
6 Aug 2011
Cancelled Shows
According to Entertainment Weekly and FOX's Kevin Reilly, the scifi drama does not bear the burden of returning big ratings next season. All they ask is that it performs as well as it did in season 3. (Which could prove problematic if ratings continue to fall like they did in season 3 after the Christmas hiatus). But this is fairly good news for FRINGE fans. Keep up the cause and keep up the ratings and FOX intends to let it be!

Let's hope it does well then! This is basically one of the only quality network shows still left, apart from a few others.
ReplyDelete"“I don’t expect Fringe to grow... It’s a pretty complex show. If Fringe can do exactly what Fringe did last year, we’re going to be very happy" may be the best comment I have heard about the Fall TV Season so far!!
ReplyDeleteThat is the most realistic view and most positive sign for Fringe's future to me. Kudos Kevin!!!
The only reason they can say this is because apparently all the people that do watch Fringe are not Nielsens families. So they conveniently get left out. We're a majority of phantom viewers. isn't that super?
ReplyDeleteyes but are happy and renewed the same thing?
ReplyDelete:) there is hope
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is.
ReplyDeleteIn a negative sort of way.
This is cool news. We still can hope for a S5... :)
ReplyDeletehope 2 not close this show.
ReplyDeleteWell for now at least.
ReplyDeleteI still think somewhere along the way Fringe is going to decline fast in the ratings.
Hopefully I'll be proven wrong. :)
Three things:
ReplyDelete1. "Is this a dare?" - Olivia to Peter in 1.12 The No-Brainer, as Peter asks her if two is her limit.
2. "With all due respect, I've done my due diligence." Olivia to Harris in the same episode as he is a pain in the ...
I've been recruiting since last year and have just added two more soldiers to the list and those I've recruited are recruiting others.
"Oh that's only two, you say?"
3. Can I have some Red Vines. They're delicious :)
Fringies, let's show FOX what we're made of!!!!
That will probably depend on how the rest of Fox's lineup does this season.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, Fringe did much more poorly than Human Target, Lie to Me, and The Chicago Code (although the nights on which they aired, lead ins, and competition were all VERY different) and yet FOX renewed Fringe for a FULLseason. Whether they just really are huge fans of the show, or they're trying to reach out and say "WHAT'S THIS FIREFLY YOU'RE ALL SO ANGRY ABOUT" I couldn't say.
ReplyDeletefans, make a fringe campaign to increase the ratings, such as on Twitter and stayhome Friday and leave after the end fringe
ReplyDeleteI can agree with most of that but Human Target did worse than Fringe and Fringe had a Friday time slot which none of these shows had to deal with.
ReplyDeleteI´m glad to hear there´s hope for Fringe Season 5. I hope we can get some viewers this year, the show deserves it.
ReplyDeleteHope this to happen for ratings and for quality as well. I expect Fringe to have the same quality showed in season 3
ReplyDeleteGo Fringe!
ReplyDeleteThis is excellent news for Fringe viewers, especially since it was touch and go for renewal last season.
ReplyDeleteFringe will also reach 88 episodes this season - the new magic number for syndication.
ReplyDeleteit is good news that it just needs to keep the ratings but I find it sad that they are not more hopeful for more ratings...
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not the same.
ReplyDeleteThat said, low expectations are what has kept Supernatural on the air for so many seasons. If there is any shot of FRINGE getting 5 or 6 seasons.... their needs to be acceptance by TPTB for mediocre ratings.
My Guess is 4 is the likely endrun, 5 is an outside chance and 6 is just the writers and fans dreams.
Thank you Kevin ! I am less worried now.
ReplyDeleteLet alone the international fanbase that has no say in this at all, except for the Internet
ReplyDeleteI hope Fringe manages to keep up its ratings from last season and we somehow get a S5. I love Kevin because he is a massive fan of the show and probably keeps renewing it to find out what is going to happen ha
ReplyDeleteLike this guy <
ReplyDeleteThis is great news, even though it's a little strange. It certainly goes against the grain as far as ratings go. I'll keep on hoping that Fringe will go up in the ratings. That seems like the only safe insurance. But I guess time will tell.
ReplyDeleteCorrection to my post. the "dare" quote is from 1.10 Safe, not 1.12 No-Brainer. Sorry about that.
ReplyDeleteAs hopeful as this sounds - no time for slacking off. Keep at it Fringies!
ReplyDeleteExactly. Don't be restin' on your laurels folks! We still have to prove that Fringe is worth keeping on air!
ReplyDeleteFringe is the only Sci-Fi show on Fox wich is still on after 3 years and we are waiting season 4 ! It's just awesome :)
ReplyDeleteusa ppl just watch it and forget the science, just enjoy the story :D
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that they understand the show probably isn't going to grow in viewers because it's so serialised that it'd be hard for a new viewer to just jump in and start watching. Really hope that the show carries on beyond the upcoming season.
ReplyDeleteHere's the solution: GET THE SHOW OFF OF FRIDAYS!!!!!! The ratings weren't an issue until they moved the show to the worst night ever. If this does not happen, then Fringe will be gone before season 4 even ends.
ReplyDeleteLet's pray it does and better. I love this show.
ReplyDeleteThanks, it great to hear Fox talking positively about Fringe :D
ReplyDeleteMay I disagree with you. I think one of the reasons it got renewed is because it was on Friday and helped boost Fox's revenue. If it would have stayed on Thursdays, I think it would have been cancelled.
ReplyDeleteI know that's what FOX said, but I don't buy it. No network would ever put a show on Friday if they wanted to keep it. Last season's rating were just enough to keep it on, but I think FOX wanted this show to end last year, but it survived. Eitherway, I still don't like were this is going. Just ranting.
ReplyDeleteno worries :)
ReplyDeleteOhh God ....
ReplyDeletethe fandom grows every day... maybe its just not as high where it counts... in the US
