Thanks to Bruce_F and MurderMondays for the heads up.
In the aftermath of being shot in Castle's Season 3 finale, Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) will be ordered to see a psychiatrist. And he is out of this world.
Star Trek: The Next Generation star Michael Dorn has been tapped for the juicy recurring role, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. The erstwhile Lt. Commander Worf will first appear in the Season 4 premiere, and at least one other episode, according to executive producer Laurie Zaks, who says Beckett's time on the shrink's couch may also hold some key answers about the evolution of Beckett's relationship with Castle (Nathan Fillion).
"It's going to dredge up a whole bunch of stuff," Zaks says. "Her conversations will enlighten how the relationship will move forward to whatever that next level is."
The therapy sessions may also help Beckett finally get some closure with her mother's murder, the investigation of which has put Beckett into her current life-threatening predicament. "I think Beckett knows that in order to move on with her life she is going to have either let go or deal with how her mother died," Zaks says.
The therapist may not be the only one to whom Beckett pours her heart out. Katic tells us the show may be introducing a close friend of Beckett's.
"We see Castle in the loft, and he's very vulnerable to his family members. So, we see a lot of the inter-workings of his end of the love story," Katic says. "I don't think we really know what's going on in Beckett's world, so it's time to kind of to open that up. ... [We've] talked a bit about potentially bringing in a friend or some kind of intimate character that can open up the other sides of her too."
But how will the hard-charging Beckett respond to Dorn's headshrinker? "She's savvy enough to get through [the therapy] and then realizes that it's something that is kind of a slow-burning medicine," Katic says. It's one of those things that you hate to do, but you have to in order to get better."

Thanks! sounds like we'll get to see other sides of Beckett, can't wait!
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me the "obstacle" of this season will be how their relationship would affect them as well as those around them.
ReplyDeleteFinally! we get to see Beckett's personal life.. she has always been a mystery outside of the precinct and it would be great to learn something about her that Castle doesn't know
ReplyDeleteYes, we all want a peak at her mind
ReplyDeleteFor Beckett to open up in any way to anyone other than Castle will be a coup but I would like to see her and "Rick" talk about taboo subjects every now and again. I would also like to see Beckett's dad and Castle's mother become quite good friends.... could be interesting. Smart and sassy together.
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me, good casting as well.
ReplyDeleteI think this is gonna be great! it's time for Beckett to speak about what she feels!! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a cool bit of casting. I like the idea of the show using a shrink as a way of digging into Kate's personal life. I hope Dorn is brought back for more than just those two episodes.
ReplyDeleteI think Lanie is still there, BFF and all. but a close friend can also reveal Kate's past as well. what if this new person turns out to be Lanie? think about it. all we know about Kate and Lanie is that they are BFF.. We don't know where, when and how they first met.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how she deals with her therapy sessions :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting casting and storyline. I always considered Lanie as Kate's bff and always wondered why they never worked in more of that dynamic. I wonder if the new close friend will also know Lanie, or if there will be a competing angle they might take with it.. (I hope not), but I am really looking forward to the Beckett therapy sessions as there is certain to be some dramatic/comedic opportunities they can mine there..
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the real Beckett not only the cop.
ReplyDeleteSorry Michael Dorn, at this time I have a hard time getting past you thinking your Worf.
ReplyDeleteIts about time she got rid of the heartache of her mothers murder! now she can focus on making out with castle ;)
ReplyDeleteWorf on Castle ;-)
ReplyDeleteShould be interesting but I'll hate it id they bring in a new best friend and forget about Lanie. I mean she's there already why not use her?! Also she needs more screen time so kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
ReplyDeleteWorf is going to be on Castle!!!!
ReplyDeletereally interested to see how they write beckett with the psychiatrist it should be really interesting and give us more incite into her personal life :)
ReplyDelete:))))))))))))
