    i'd rather 13 quality episodes than 20 mediocre ones. I understand that Emily needs a break w/ her baby and im glad they wont be trying to push unless they kno they can get more than 13 eps. plus this means that season 8 may have more than 20 episodes like season 4 did

    Hey, we survived season 3 with 15 episodes! If these 13 episodes are
    going to be amazing and exciting and full of B&B than I’m more than
    pleased with having only 13 episodes! Just give us Booth and Brennan and
    a baby and the whole fandom will be dying of happiness through all the
    13 episodes!

    that doesnt bode well for the success of the series if they are ordering so little episodes....does this mean Bones might be getting the can also this year?

    No this means that one of the stars of the show needs maternity leave.  And as Barbara and Syd have mentioned, we already had one writers' strike-shortened season 3 that was followed by an extended 26 episode season 4.  So who's to say we can't have history repeat with a maternity leave-shortened season 7 followed by an extended season 8.
