TVLine reports that Bill Paxton recently signed up to star alongside Kevin Costner in a miniseries entitled Hatfields and McCoys and directed by Kevin Reynolds. This miniseries recounts the story of Anse Hatfield (Costner) and Randall McCoy (Paxton), who at first were close friends during the Civil War. But when they returned to their respective homes in West Virginia and neighboring Kentucky, assorted tensions, misunderstandings and resentments eventually fueled an all-out family feud — one that, as it escalated, nearly brought the two states to the brink of another Civil War.
Among the issues between the broods, there was an ultimately disastrous love affair between Hatfield's son and McCoy's daughter, the execution of McCoy's three sons in retaliation for the murder of Hatfield's brother and a New Year’s Massacre of the McCoy clan and burning of their home.

This miniseries is set to premiere on the History channel in 2012 - if they don't get cold feet this time and cancel the broadcast because of threats coming from political lobbyists and other pressure groups (e.g : The Kennedys).

I'm excited for this, although I'm experiencing some deja vu. Wasn't this a mini-series before?
ReplyDeleteAnd this shouldn't cause as much controversy as The Kennedys did.
Sounds good. I'm thinking it sounds a little like Wyatt Earp-ish. The mood rather than the specific story, I suppose.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait this sounds awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteI posted this a few months ago, maybe that's it. Although Paxton wasn't a part of the project back then.
