Thanks to Bruce_F for the heads up.
In the latest classic TV title getting considered for a reboot, CBS and Sony are developing a script for remake of the classic sitcom Bewitched. This is still in very early stages, but it’s definitely a project worth keeping an eye on.
Sony ushered the return of Angels and the producers of the clunky film version (which starred Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell) are on board. Can you imagine the 2011 pitch of this show, about an ordinary suburban businessman who discovers his wife has magical powers? “It’s Harry Potter meets Desperate Housewives!” H

Oh, you have got to be kidding me. That's one remake I can't get aboard I have to say.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope it's good.
ReplyDeleteIt won't, it will flop just like the pathetic movie in 2005 did. No one can play Samantha like Elizabeth Montgomery did.
ReplyDeleteStupid, the movie in 2005 flopped big time. No one can play Samantha like Elizabeth Montgomery, besides she's the only one who could do the twitch.
ReplyDeleteWhat is with the hollywood writers, they can't come up with new ideas that haven't been done before. No wonder why everything is either a stupid remake or a lame reality show. I'm sick of both, they need to put some new material that hasn't been done before. CBS is very stupid to remake this show, they should just put back all the good shows that they cancelled back onto tv.
It's CBS what do you expect, plus the hollywood writers don't seem to know how to create an original series that hasn't been before.
ReplyDeleteThey just update it for Tabitha the daughter or someone similar, so it doesn't get a retread of characters.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling this remake will not be very successful.
ReplyDeleteThe good thing - at least CBS is kinda looking outside their normal box and isn't looking to put another procedural type show on, but the bad is that it's unoriginal thinking to do a remake of a show whose remake movie was awful, imo.
ReplyDeleteAnother reboot/remake. Ugh! No wonder so many TV shows fail to get a second season.
ReplyDeleteIt's gonna be another flop like with Wonder Woman. This type of show doesn't attract anymore..and the idea is purely old-fashioned - the film with Nicole Kidman justifies my statement. And it's old-fashioned in a bad way - archaic. I'd rather they make original series instead of making pointless reboots and remakes.
ReplyDeleteCan't see this been any good..
ReplyDeleteThe commenter over on the EW site said it best:
ReplyDeleteAh CBS….you see a show like SECRET CIRCLE on the CW and think “How can we do that for OLD people?”
IT's funny... I read the title of this as "Bewitched - CBS and Sony developing a MISTAKE"
ReplyDeleteNow, that is an omen!
They already did a spin off of Tabitha shortly after the Cancellation of Bewitched in the 70's, it was a flop and was cancelled after one season.
ReplyDeleteCBS needs to put on another procudural show on their network, yet they seem to cancel a lot of shows that have a huge fan base; but can't still see that they need to do something about the games running into overtime which wrecks the ratings of shows.
ReplyDeleteI do not want to see a remake of this show, find a new show that hasn't been done before and put it on. No more remakes or reality shows.
