  1. Well I for one am not getting any closer to any solution after seeing these clues.
If anything I'm just getting more confused. XD

  2. Add me to the club. Confused yet intrigued.

  3. Playing people, baby, couple in passionate whatever......can I buy a vowel?

  4. I'm starting to think these promos are being purposely abstruse for their own sake and no other reason.  This seems like it should be a pre-season 2 promo, not season 1.  The point is to draw people in and not confuse the hell out of them.

Attract people to your show first and THEN mess with their heads.

  5. Not that I would be motivated enough to really think a lot about these clues or even try to get some additional info, but I have no idea what the hell all this is supposed to mean and how these clues relate to the show. Clues for what exactly? What's the question or the mystery we're supposed to solve??

  6. I'm intrigued to a point... like a David Lynch film intrigues me. Sadly I don't always enjoy the actual plot or story as much as the mystery or WTF aspect......

  7. Exactly. I don't know the reference point the clues are for. What am I suppose to be deciphering...

Baby + Cello + Couple = Music to make babies too?
Is Ryan Murphy a Yo-Yo Ma fan? XD

  8. I've never heard the word abstruse being used. I figure it means absurdly obtuse?
    :P

I googled it and was right.
    (Esoteric, obtuse, etc.)

  9. I tend to agree. I was quite interested in the series at first, mostly because of the cast. The more these oddities they are calling promo clues go on, the more apt I am to think it's just Murphy trying to be avant garde and push the envelope.

His caring less about story and more about being edgy is the thing I dislike most about him.... so I'm hoping there is more substance then just freak show .

  10. You and me both, darq.

  11. Cello - miscarriage
    Baby - baby
    Couple - intercourse

Just kidding, after first one I thought it was like "playing on people's fears", but right know I don't know.

  12. Abstruse and obtuse aren't really synonyms.  A lot of people use the word obtuse when they really mean abstruse, yet obtuse is much more commonly used, albeit wrongly.

(sorry about this word police-related deviation from the topic)

  13. If I hadn't read descriptions of the show and knew who the cast were, these promos would not make me curious to see it at all, they would just annoy me. I feel like they're trying to be very random/artistic/Twin Peeks-weird, and not succeeding one iota.

I'll still watch it though :)

  14. I like these random teases, they don;t really tell me anything about the show, but are creating a good atmosphere and intriguing the hell out of me.

  15. No no no, I LOVE this stuff.
So when people say obtuse in that sense it's supposed to be abstruse.
    Thanks Bruce. :)

  16. While I agree with your point about Substance over freak show, I'm not going to jump to conclusions over a 10 second teaser. lol

  17. Yes, but don't try to correct people when they use it as I should not have done.  Why?  Obtuse is basically another version of "like" or "ain't."  So many people have used them improperly that it has either changed or added to their definitions.

Some dictionaries now have definitions for "obtuse" similar to that of abstruse, while others will tell you that they're still not synonyms.
