Now that I have recently finished reading all available The Walking Dead comics, I've decided to build up and strengthen the Walking Dead community here at SpoilerTV. So from time to time until season 2 premieres, I will be doing some polls. Some of them will be compatible for everyone who watches the show, others mostly for readers of the comics.Feel free to spread the word around the social networks since I'm not using facebook or twitter. It's definitely appreciated!
After already asking which season one characters that left or got separated from the main survivor group you would like to see come back in the second season, today I'd like to know which characters from the comics you want to see cast next. We already know that Scott Wilson, Lauren Cohan and Pruitt Taylor Vince have joined the cast for season two as Hershel, his daughter Maggie and Otis. Since Darabont already confirmed that we won't see Michonne and the Governor this season, I've only included characters that were introduced before them, because it's unlikely anyone else from later in the comics will make an appearance.
And if you have any casting ideas, leave a comment!
I definitely want to see Tyreese on the TV show as soon as possible. He is such a great character in the comics and his hammer is just iconic. Ving Rhames would be an awesome casting choice in my opinion. He has the physique to pull off this role and already got zombie experience from being part of the cast in the remake of Dawn of the Dead in 2004. Unfortunately due to his involvement in Black Jack I don't think he would be available.Of course, you can still vote in older 'The Walking Dead' polls:
Which characters do you mostly want to see come back in season 2?

Have not Darabont confirmed that T-Dog is the tv-version of Tyrese?
ReplyDeleteThere has been no clear confirmation whether this is the case or not, but judging from a few Kirkman interviews and a Darabont comment, I don't think so:

I would be very disappointed if he suddenly turns out to be Tyreese.
I'm seeing MC Gainey as Axel.
ReplyDeleteTyreese. He was by far one of my favorite characters from the comic.
ReplyDeletei want to see that chic with the sword...cant think of her name atmo. she arrives at the prison.
ReplyDeleteI like that idea, he would be a great choice!
ReplyDeleteYou mean Michonne. It has been considered that she would appear this season, but Frank Darabont recently confirmed we will be seeing her in the show's third season.
ReplyDeleteAnd right now I'm not sure the group will arrive at the prison this season. They will definitely spend quite some time at Hershel's farm.
ah, i hadnt heard that about season three. cool, thx for the info. i reckon her character will be great when she does come along. i hope they stick a bit more to the comics, i love the show but id like to see some more familiar stuff.
ReplyDeleteanyone know is shanes going to die later?
There's been nothing confirmed about Shane yet. Kirkman regularly makes fun about it, teasing Bernthal that he might soon loose his job, but Darabont seems to like the character and wants to milk the Rick/Lori/Shane situation as long as possible. And Kirkman also once said that he might have killed Shane too early in the comics. But I also hope they don't keep around for too long. And I definitely hope that this doesn't keep them from introducing Tyreese; I'm a bit afraid they don't want him in the picture right now, because he kind of takes on Shane's role as Rick's best friend.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'd like to see them sticking more to the stories in the comics. Daryl is a great addition, but Morales and especially Guillermo & the Vatos were useless and rather uninteresting. There are great story lines provided by the comics and while I have no problem with occasional detours and changes, they should be kept just occasional.
i agree, i hope they dont keep him too long. his character is such a tossa. i want to see tyreese soon too, he presence creates a better dynamic within the group. thanks for the info, very to the point, i hate reading 10 articles to get like 3 sentences of good info. nice.
ReplyDeleteI think it'd be an interesting dynamic if they introduced Tyresse early next season (like the comics if I remember correctly) because it'd be interesting to see Tyresse suggesting one thing to Rick and Shane on the other suggesting another. As far as Shane goes, I don't care much for the character and this is the only idea I came up with that I would like to see involving him.
ReplyDeleteHey, did you announce the results of that contest where you had to choose which pilots wll go to series? I would like to see how I did.
ReplyDeleteAnd bring on Tyreese! Guy is a beast.
I believe Adam Harris did that contest. Don't know what happened to it.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I'm interested in what Kirkman has planned for Shane, I agree. I hope he doesn't keep him around too long. And I certainly hope he's long gone by the time they reach the prison. I'm afraid that the writers will keep him around as cannon fodder for the Guv's rage instead of the the victims in the comics. In other words, cut out some of the most controversial stuff in the comics and replace it with dead Shane as the impetuous for Rick's ensuing grief post-prison.
ReplyDeleteThen again, maybe I'm getting WAY ahead of the game. ;)
I think they are moving the story along too slowly.
Hmmm, so far they showed some pretty controversial and gruesome stuff on the show and I hope they won't shy away from Thomas' serial killer thing in prison and kill off Shane instead.
ReplyDeleteSo far the story moved rather slowly compared to the comics, but season 1 was kind of a test season in my opinion, nobody was sure whether this concept will work for TV or not and everyone was surprised how big a success it turned out to be. But if season 2 will be just Hershel's farm, I have to agree. Guess we have to wait and find out.
Julie, Chris, Allen and Kids, Hershels youngest daughters, and Thomas. And Carl needs the gun. All are tied to WTF????? situations. So far it looks like they are avoiding all of the forementioned scenes with the kids. And thats a huge part of the story. I swear one time I spent 5 minutes mouth open like WTF just happened. The TV show needs that. Uptight, stuck up angry parents or not.
