The Walking Dead star Andrew Lincoln has revealed that he is excited about the possibility of working with Stephen King.

The horror author is in negotiations to co-write an episode of the zombie drama alongside his son Joe Hill.

Lincoln told IGN: "To work with [Walking Dead producers] Frank Darabont and Gale Ann Hurd was just beyond my wildest dreams, but what's happened since then has been extraordinary. When you have people that are so accomplished and so talented wanting to bring their talent to the show, [that] is one of the highest forms of praise, I think."

The British actor, who plays Rick Grimes, also confirmed that he has spoken with Darabont and the show's writing team to discuss his character's evolution in season two.

"I... spent four hours talking to Frank and his team about character [and] what was really fascinating and interesting to play," he said. "It feels like you're really going to get to know and live with these characters a lot more."

Lincoln also hinted that the show's characters will come to terms with the hopelessness of their situation in future episodes.

"They're [facing] the fact that this is a situation that they're having to deal with [permanently]," he said. "There doesn't seem to be the cavalry on the horizon, waiting to come and save them."
