Update: 29th July The badges are now created and ready for you to collect. For the more technical stuff and for any technical issues you have with them, head HERE but I figured this would be a good place to discuss the actual badges and how your doing in terms of collecting the badges on a more show specific level. Enjoy them :D

A small taster for you, the level 1 badge is Bonnie Bennett:


Time to start collecting!

Hey Vampire Diaries Fans,

We're beginning to progress further with the Badgeville badges, and The Vampire Diaries is to be our next go at creating a show specific badge, where you score points and badges for engaging in posts that are solely The Vampire Diaries based. This follows from the Supernatural & Fringe badges we launched today... For more information on Badgeville on STV head HERE

Of course we need to design the badges for this, and seeing as you as fans are important to us and know who is a great character on the show and who is not, we thought we'd let you pick the faces that will be on the badges.

For this show, all the main and recurring characters are in one poll for you to choose from

All you need to do is vote for the 6 characters you feel are most worthy of a place on the ten badges we will initially create... That means you can select up to 6 characters then press the vote button... I've included all the important multi-episode characters I can find but if there's someone else you want to nominate, stick him in the other option :D The top ten nominations will appear on the badges in that rank order!

Remember to vote for 6 characters and whilst your at it you can comment below on who you chose and why...

    You probably could of exempted the triad (Damon, Elena, Stefan).  Since I know they're going to make it, I'll focus my votes elsewhere:

    Yeah... I knew they were the biggest star but I wasn't sure whether it was more ensemble than that so I stuck them all together :P

    I agree that Elena, Damon and Stefan are as much exempt as Sam and Dean (and I would have added Cas to that). Others: Caroline (her character has evolved the most and she's kick ass), Elijah because he's ridiculously cool (except for the believing in his brother crap which Stefan does with Damon too) and Klaus the Original. I should have voted Alaric (Bromance!) and Tyler instead of Damon and Elena. OH and Katherine! she needs to be on there too because she is buckets of crazy.

    Why is Bonnie with so little votes, I thought people liked her?

    I think Damon, Elena and Stefan should be the top 3 badges, like in SN and Fringe with their main characters. By the way, where is Katherine, I know she is played by the same actress as Elena, but she is a different character and an awesome one in that.

    In fairness, I don't watch the show and I did realise pretty quickly afterward... I decided that to have two Nina Dobrev badges when we only have ten for each show on their launch was a bit silly...

    Hopefully Katherine can be an additional badge in the future :)

    Just a quick question, because I'm a bit confused about how to earn these badges? Do we automatically start out with a Bonnie badge, or do we have to acquire so many points before it shows up? And if so, how many points before we collect it?  Thanks!

    Hi Jessica.

    You basically start with 0 points. The first badge requires 1 point and the others more and more as you go higher.

    You get points for using the Facebook Like, Google+1, Tweet button etc on Vampire Diaries only posts.

    Hope that helps.

    Hmmm... I know I should have at least one point for the TVD badges, because I've liked and commented on Vampire Diaries-only posts, but in my profile it says that my Bonnie badge is still locked for some reason.  I just don't if I'm doing something wrong, lol.
