The Final - Supernatural vs. Fringe - The Final Hours Video Promo

(Thanks to Wilson for this amazing video that captures the Final Round brilliantly! :D)
The previous video Wilson made is HERE

Hey Guys,

Yesterday completed our line-up for the Final of the 2011 Competition, with Fringe joining Supernatural in a battle for the title. The 64 shows have become 2, it's crunch time... Can Supernatural make it two titles out of two, or can Fringe steal the title for themselves. It's up to the fans now... Good Luck!

IMPORTANT: The Rules for the Final have changed this year. There will be 2 DAYS for you to gather the support, and get the votes that your show needs to win. That means that the 2011 Final will close at 13:30EST on Thursday 21st July.

Don't forget to spread the word, and tweet out the competition to friends as well as facebook liking the post...
Also if you are taking part in the prediction competition, don't forget to follow your scores HERE Long time leader Sergey Sevostianov just needs a Supernatural victory to win the top prize and the DVD voucher his performance has merited. However a Fringe win could still see victory stolen from his grasp on the final day...

All that's left to say, is good luck to every show...
... and let the battles begin!

  8. Supernatural - the best show on TV to me.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Why would you change it to 2 days Adam?

    ReplyDelete
  10. I vote for Supernatural. It's a complete show for me. Great writing, amazing acting, good plot. And so many true emotions. It influences people's lives in many ways. And can help to go through tough times. There are many people in our fandom who will tell you this - Supernatural is a life-changing experience.

Wow, i am really torn...i absolutely love both shows but since i chose Supernatural to win in the brackets i will vote for it...

  12. So,it's gonna be two days of me not leaving my desk..Okay!
SUPERNATURAL!Always....Come on guys,we can do the two out of two!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Funny your the second person who describes their show and the description fits for Fringe as well.

    ReplyDelete
  14. From a passioned fan: I vote for Supernatural. No other show up to this day - I mean really NONE - had me so wraped up that I actively engaged in any fandom or even bothered to go and vote for it. I think that says it all how much this show means to me.

    ReplyDelete
  15. FRINGE in all universes.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Sounds like Fringe to me :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Well, two hotties getting whumped, killed,  then resurracted over and over is less believable than the soul magnets/Bellivia (which is BTW considered the weakest story arc in Fringe) so it's definitely Fringe for me. and believe me, I really tried with SPN, It just didn't convince me.
Third place: voted for Firefly because it's a fringe episode lol. *Evil laugh!*

    ReplyDelete
  18. Supernatural FTW!!!  Jared and Jensen make Supernatural the best show on TV. It is only Supernatural for me.

    ReplyDelete

    Always Supernatural!! The best show!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I haven't descriped SPN per se, just my feelings for the show.
So if your feelings for Fringe are as great as mine for Supernatural, then yes.
Good luck to both of us!!! Though, you know we've got god (former Cas) on our side :D

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thank you adam for running this again this year. It's been super fun!

    Voted for Fringe and Firefly.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Both are truly great shows, there's no denying that.  But for me, I have to go with Fringe.  I watched it live over Supernatural this past season because I couldn't wait each week to see it, while Supernatural I could wait.  Supernatural my interest has been there but its gone up and down, while with Fringe it only continues to go up.

Either way, a great show wins, and the fans that were split while watching this past season will have an interesting next 2 days watching this.  But for me, go Fringe!

    ReplyDelete
  23.  1 Day One vote 48hours my passion is with Supernatural

    ReplyDelete
  24. Love both shows, but Fringe is better.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Only shows that have done to me what Fringe has is Lost or BSG....Fringe gets my vote over and over!

    ReplyDelete
  26. not sure fringe affects people lives but the rest is true :P

    ReplyDelete
  27. Fringe all the way! Never watched Supernatural, but I know this will be a tough struggle to pull off.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Good Luck to both... but I'm Supernatural all the way baby! Fringe has a big audience, but I hope the Supernatural passion can carry us through!

    ReplyDelete
  29. PS: I have to add, I'm proud of Chuck for making it as far as it did!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Supernatural without a doubt ! Winchesters for the win ;)  And Vampire Diaries!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Great, so now i have to watch firefly lose again?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Firefly had me first... But, I missed seeing it live. I didn't "see" it until Serenity came out. By then, it was too late for the series. It went by too quickly. But, Supernatural has surpass even Firefly in my opinion. If Firefly would have been able to continue, it would probably still have my vote. But, 14 episodes and a BDM against 6 years of anst and fun... Gotta go with the 6 years. But, love 'em both...

    ReplyDelete
  33. Definitely voted for Supernatural but I'm not going to be too devastated if Fringe wins. Both these two and Firefly are amazing shows and I'd be happy to see any of them win.
As for third place playoff, I like Vampire Diaries but I loved Firefly's 14 episodes + Serenity a lot more than VD's 44 episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  34. you know fringe will be geting some help this round. lol

    ReplyDelete
  35. Wow, that was a squeaker, huh? Fringe came up and grabbed the mantel in the 11th hour.

    Now, FRINGE FTW!

    ReplyDelete
  36. No worries! It's good great to run, everyone has put their opinions and votes across in a ways that's been just fun...

And of course, we still have the 'Character Competition in Mid-August to keep us going through the Hiatus! :D

    ReplyDelete
  37. We decided to change it so it could be bigger/more votes/more time for fans to rally the troops! :D

And of course we love watching Wilson struggle over show loyalties.... :P

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'll add something to that description that is yet to be seen for Fringe. Supernatural has managed to keep itself fresh and inventive after 6 years. It's the 7th season and people are still waiting on baited breath to see what they would pull out of the hat this time. It has the stamina and staying power of a well oiled engine.

    ReplyDelete
  39. And here I thought that Adam never watched SPN but it's like he learned from Alistair himself ;)

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'd heard that SPN struggled a bit last year. I watched the final two episodes of S6 for the STV Podcast and comparing it to the first two seasons and half the third which I've seen it was not the same standards...
Admittedly I didn't have the help of having seen all of S6 before I watched the finale, but I felt it lacked the spooky, wickedly fun spark that the first couple of seasons had.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Supernatural of course. And I'm glad it's 2 days because I was off today. This way when I go to work tomorrow I can spread the word at the office and get my coworkers to vote for my show. :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. More votes=More hits for Spoilertv...I'm no fool. :P
Although this really does hurt. I think I might vote on my personal computer for SPN and on my work computer I'll vote for Fringe. :D

    ReplyDelete
  43. My vote goes for Fringe. Yay, It's on the final ^_^

    ReplyDelete
  44. Well, you definitely missed a lot. Watch the episode BEFORE the last 2 and you'll see one of the best episodes of the series.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Fringe!!!!! (And Firefly for 3rd) Love SN, but Fringe is my favorite by far.

    ReplyDelete
  46. When I get home, I'll make a video for SPN vs. Fringe so it can go live at least by late tonight. :)
It's great that it's these two shows because I have plenty of footage to work with :D

    ReplyDelete
  47. S06 was less on the spooky side and more on the mystery side. I agree that it had its short comings (the first half of the season, ugh,) but the last three episodes were simply amazing because they cast a different light on the rest of the season and revealed secrets few saw before. You also have to take into consideration that SPN is on the CW, a small network that gives it little love and an even smaller budget. They did the best they could with what they had. It would have been much better with decent FX that would allow for more ambitious plot development, but the writers still managed to surprise and excite their audience.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Seriously. It's like he learned from the best!

    ReplyDelete
  49. SUPERNATURAL ALL THE WAY! Tried to watch Fringe, didnt like it much

    ReplyDelete
  50. Awesome! email me adamdharris@spoilertv.com when its up! :D

    ReplyDelete
  51. Fringe. No doubt.  I tried to love SPN, it being the genre of my heart, but it just didn't stick.. it was enjoyable, solid, but... now Fringe.. i lay in bed for hours after episodes just thinking it over..

    ReplyDelete
  52. You said it. Most show I sit on my couch and watch. Not Supernatural. I have evolved rituals: No SPN watching without a bunch of tissues and a Dean-worthy beer on my side and a towel to mop the beer of the floor I emitted over a hilarious one-liner. Cause with SPN you never know what to expect in one single episode! Not to mention a whole season!!! I evoved to a very well equipped SPN-couch-potato...

    ReplyDelete
  53. I like supernatureral but it has to be Fringe for me

    ReplyDelete
  54. Agree with this so much. You can't get into the depth and breath of the last two episodes if you don't watch The Man Who Would Be King. It's the quintessential episode of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Awesome!  You do know it's become a 2 day job now though.  Hope you can make it!

    ReplyDelete
  56. The biggest problem I had was I hadn't ever seen a Castiel episode before those two episodes, so I didn't really get into the zone of his betrayal...

    ReplyDelete
  57. Now that's a good compromise!  I think Adam did it to mess with my plans and give Fringe a better chance, but I guess more SPTV hits is a plausible theory too.  :-P

    ReplyDelete
  58. Everything is Supernatural and nothing hurts.
For me there is no possible way to choose something else. SUPERNATURAL!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I voted Supernatural in the final poll. And imo, it's right where it belongs. Even if it just comes in 2nd, it is still an amazing result considering all of the shows that were a part of this competition. I know both shows - supernatural and fringe - have a huge and very dedicated fanbase. Good luck to both of them, even though I'd rather say both shows already won this whole competition by even just making it to the final poll.

As for the bronze medal, I voted for Vampire Diaries. I'm kinda happy I didn't have to choose between TVD and SPN on the final poll, so the opportunity to vote for them for the bronze medal is quite nice.
(Looks bad atm though. I've never seen Firefly even though I was a huge Buffy fan and it's also a Whedon show ... I might have to give it a try at some point.)

Also, let me take this oppotunity to thank SpoilerTV for this great competition. It's been the first year I ever took part in it (well, I only got to know about this homepage late last year) and I really enjoyed reading through the comments / discussions (and also participating in some).

    ReplyDelete
  60. Notes on what? Consider me intruiged!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I think season 6 was a vast improvement over season 5 and a return to a well-oiled brother relationship and some fun.  It was less dark than seasons 4 and 5 too.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I loved the first half (some episodes withstanding) because I found RoboSam to be very funny and several of my favorite episodes came from there.  Weekend at Bobby's anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  63. I disagree in some ways. I loved it about as much as season 5. But I loved season 5 much more than you did apparently. Both were stil slight disappointments though for direction that seemed not the right way to go about some things.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I meant to say I just haven't had time to write the SPN S2 review... I'm behind on movie reviews as well atm for my own blog, but once this is done I'll try and get it written :D

    ReplyDelete
  65. Agreed.  I have never been so involved in a TV show before.  I've been passionate about many shows but generally that excitement wears off so that by the 5th year I'm watching out of habit and unhappy about where the show has gone.  6 years later, I'm still as passionate about Supernatural as i was the first year.  That's a huge record for me and a testament to the show.  Yes, I have watched Fringe and yes I think it's good, but no characters have ever consumed my attention and my heart like Dean and Sam Winchester.  They have a longevity and depth unlike anything else I've watched on TV.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Bwah!  I have my comforting Supernatural pillow for when a scene gets too much for me or I've been Kripked.  It serves it's dual purpose well.  And I too have had to clean up after a particularly good one-liner.  I've come to realize that it's best to drink during the commercial breaks.  I have found no other TV show that can outsnark Supernatural.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Fringe and TVD for third place.  I don't expect either to win but I never expect... aw, hell.  I'm not even going to start.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Why are you even trying anymore?
Everybody knows that Supernatural will win.
    Supernaural always wins.

    ReplyDelete
  69. You've never seen an episode with Castiel before?!?!
First of all,if that's the case,it's understandable that you didn't grasp the severity of the situation..
But more importantly..Why are you doing this to yourself!?!?
Go see the season 4 premiere, for the coolest character introduction in TV history and then you can see the episode before the 2 hour season 6 finale..
And then we can talk again! ; )

    ReplyDelete
  70. Supernatural all the way.   It has captured and held my attention like no other show on tv!  Thanks for a great competition!

    ReplyDelete
  71. It shouldn't be a problem :) I'll post some before going to bed.

    ReplyDelete
  72. On how the voting is going and which show is leading with how many votes ;)

    ReplyDelete
  73. How many times can we vote... and still be counted??
cause I have nothing else to do seeing as its 1am.. and I need to kill 1hour. =)

    ReplyDelete
  74. I have watched both Supernatural and Fringe...I'm sorry to Fringe fans but I did not find it interesting at all...Did not hold my attention and I had no urge to watch anymore episodes than what my mother forced me to sit through....Supernatural on the other hand has held my attention for 6 seasons and I can rewatch EVERY episode over and over again. I think that says something in itself. The actors are phenomenal and the writers are brilliant at telling stories that capture you from beginning to end. I love that show and it will always be my choice no matter the competition.

    ReplyDelete
  75. True, but since I watch by courtesy of the world wide web (cause my country sucks at beeing up to date with current seasons) I have no commercial breaks. So I had to learn the hard way for 6 years now: When one badass monster threatens Dean, expect an snarky one-liner. When RoboSam is around, expect a soulles one-liner. When Bobby is in a scene, expect a idjit-included-one-liner. Cas has his innocent-child-like-one-liners (before he became god). With Crowley expect one-liners around every corner!
Which makes it sounds as if Supernatural is a comedy show. Some exceptional episodes aside, Spn is still a drama show and only this occasionally, well placed on-liners kept me from pulling my hair out. So I thought they are worth a little extra mention

    ReplyDelete
  76. 210 tweets already. lol
Love Supernatural since the pilot so im all theres.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Supernatural and Firefly for me. :) Supernatural has remained the best show on TV for me for 6 years. Its' not about to stop now. And like I said before; the Winchesters own my soul. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  78. I'm sorry Fringe, I love you.... But I love Supernatural more!!
(And Firefly! VD never held my attention found it BOORING!)

    ReplyDelete
  79. So, I voted.
    Supernatural and Fringe.
    :D

    ReplyDelete
  80. It's a one vote poll.  If you try to vote again it will look like it let you but it didn't.  It says Thanks we've already counted your vote or something like that.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Hey!!! I voted and am tweeting like crazy for Supernatural!!! I hope we can do this!!! I commented earlier on here!!!

    ReplyDelete
  82. FRINGE.

First off : Woah, Fringe made it to the final ? Amazing ! I thought the show was going to be crushed by Firefly, when I checked at some point I thought it was a done deal (Fringe had like only 32% of the votes and Firefly already had 1200 votes or so). That's a hell of a twist that Fringe won in the end. It shouldn't surprise me so much, this show is accustomed to big twists. I didn't expect there would be one here given how the round started. So, someone finally took down Serenity. I really think Fringe deserves the most to go to the final, but Firefly is a very good show too (hence my vote for Firefly i the 3rd place playoff).

Thank you again for organizing this competition, Adam, it was fun. I never expected to be a frontrunner in the competition, but I picked the shows thoroughly though so it was a pleasant surprise to be in the top 10 since the quarter finals, and now in the top 5 (tied with Adam, actually).

    ReplyDelete
  83. Fringe for the win!! I love this show so much. This year has probably been its best yet (although season 2 was amazing, as well) and everything was perfect, from the acting to the effects to the directing and the writing, the stories were brilliant and interesting and fresh. It was the one show all year that I was dying to see the next episode of. I had to watch each new episode multiple times while waiting for the next one. It's the one show I was obsessed over this year.

I really like Supernatural, too, but I wasn't a huge fan of seasons 5 & 6, I felt like the Sam/Dean relationship felt off and not in an interesting way (like season 4). but still! great show (season 2 and 4 were really amazing, IMO).

    ReplyDelete
  84. Hey girl! Hell yeah! I'm tweeting like crazy for Supernatural as well, so believe me! I'm spreading the word! :D

    ReplyDelete
  85. Of course Fringe affects people lives. The most moving case I read is about somebody who had someone in the family having been in a mental institution (like Fringe's Walter) and how the show really helped them deal with it. It does present the evolution of a estranged father and son who get closer and closer, despite enormous challenges from their past and from their wok, and that does get to real people in their daily lives. The show also has an awsome autistic character, what has been really appreciated by families affected by that challenge. It has also promoted people to get interested in real modern science, and it just gets all our lives crazier, trying for example to find the observer in each episode or decoding the glyph codes, etc.

This is a video with 100 reasons to vote for Fringe (made by Fringe fans for another occasion, ATTENTION, it's full of SPOILERS, up to 3rd season finale, you might not want to see it haven't seen the shpw and want to experience it at its best; it's intended for those dubious about what to vote):

    ReplyDelete
  86. The problem is more about the people than the show if you ask me, It took years and years..and years before the pilot was even written, and many different pilots scripts and many years between the pilot and Season 5 to complete a big and epic story.

And some people expected the exact same quality in a couple of months than what was created in almost a decade of work. The show can only go better now after it had more time to cook the new chapter

  87. fringe against supernatural realy is a funny joke fringe is good but supernatural boys hits the roof like harry potter movie they broke tickets sales record and spn have fans so devoted wil break votes in this poll good luck fringe second place are nice.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Is that true? Can we only vote and be counted, one time????? If true, that sure opens up the rest of my day!!! GO SPN

    ReplyDelete
  89. Supernatural always and forever.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Fringe and TVD. I think Fringe is one of the few shows that got better for every season. Walter is one of the best characters on TV at the moment.
I stopped watching Supernatural after season 3. I don´t dislike it, just found that it was often every episode seemed a like to me.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Fringe ever <3 Supernatural no is more good.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Right?  This may be a show that will eventually have to be "retired" from competition.

    ReplyDelete
  93. When people really like a show, every positive review applies to the show they like.  If you write why you love Fringe, chances are Supernatural fans will say that applies to their show too.  Well, unless you mentioned liking the love triangle and then Supernatural fans can't relate to that.  However, talking about fractured relationships between family slowly healing, interesting plot twists, great acting, strong emotional pull, coming together despite bad ratings, feeling a connection - yep, all of those apply to both.  With the exception of maybe the ratings thing and family, I'd say most people feel the same way about their favorite show - no matter what it si.

  94. :) We need to rally the Minions. You asked your Master?

    ReplyDelete
  95. Supernatural for the win! And thank you, Adam, for doing this again! Can't wait to see who wins and to do it next year!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Supernatural.
It's the first and only tv show that's really held me completely captivated for 6 seasons, and had tearing my hair out waiting for the next.

It's the first and only show I've ever involved myself in to the extent of commenting online and voting in polls.

It's the first and only show that caused me to join facebook, twitter and now google+ so I can take part in an online multi-national fandom.

It's the first and only show that has given me some awesome, caring and passionate friends who will continue to be my friends for life no matter how much longer Supernatural continues.

  97. "With Crowley expect one-liners around every corner!"

Ha!  So true.  This is one of the reasons why I love him.  Glad he'll be back again.  Mark Sheppard and Crowley are a perfect fit!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Agreed! Love me some Crowley...

    ReplyDelete
  99. sorry, fringe fans. i feel bad for you guys.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I had the same thought as well. Actually before this competition even started.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Supernatural forever.
this is the show which helped me through my rough times. it gave me most amazing friends. this sow gives me joy and happiness.
    and TVD too.
so its still supernatural and TVD for me
    two best shows of decades

    ReplyDelete
  102. Right.  If you know the outcome of a competition before it starts, adjustments need to be made.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I voted for Fringe and I don't stop to vote for the show until we won!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Im down with Supernatural, this poll will be tuff tough.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I'll give it to you. It's just the first time I heard about that, but hey, I know more spn fans then fringes

    ReplyDelete
  106. Oh and I forgot to say: it's the first and only show to inspire me and a bunch of friends to set up our own fansite - man, what a learning curve!!! But soooo much fun! http://www.spnasylum.com

    ReplyDelete
  107. Actually I wouldn't count out the Fringe fans yet. Yesterday they showed us very well how to make a last minute appearance with Firefly. They are worthy "adversaries" (for lack of a better word right now), I don't underestimate!

    ReplyDelete
  108. Supernatural all the way!

Even though Season 6 has in some ways disappointed me, and I fear for the Cas storyline in Season 7, this cast still brings gold every time they are on screen!

This show will always be about family, love, and friendship in the midst of all the battles and save-the-world plots, and that core is what keeps this show going!

Jensen, Jared, Misha, and Jim have showed all their brilliance over the years and prove without a doubt that they are the best cast on screen!

No matter what happens, the journey taken by two brothers, an old drunk, and a fallen angel will always overtake any other show! :)

There is nothing more epic than fighting to stop an Apocalypse and watching an angel finding his own way and learn how to exercise free-will!

SPN will always gain my vote!

    ReplyDelete
  109. why does mine say firefly not fringe lol

    ReplyDelete
  110. I couldn't agree with you more, Jilly....about the learning curve, LOL!
No it really is tons of fun!!! Honored and happy to be allowed to participate.

    ReplyDelete
  111. FRINGE! FRINGE! FRINGE!!!!!!
    Please.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Supernatural!!!! No Doubt about it :D

    ReplyDelete
  113. It's been 3 hours since the voting started, with 30 votes for Supernatural and 22 for Fringe. SPN is leading since the beginning. Biggest difference between the shows was 353 votes hour and a half ago. Right now SPN is winning by 291 votes.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I voted Supernatural the best show EVER! Second Place for me Firefly

    ReplyDelete
  115. More like two brothers facing unbelievable odds to do the impossible for the ungrateful, but yes, they do get whumped a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  116. 'happy to be allowed to participate.' Ha! We couldn't have done it without you! :)

    ReplyDelete
  117. I hope you give it a try.  Supernatural has a strong family basis like Fringe as well as a mixture of standalone and serialized episodes.  They both deal with the odd and have strong characters. If you lean more towards the standalones of Fringe, I'd start with season 1.  If you like the serialized episodes better, start with season 2.  If you only give Supernatural a 1 episode chance, I'd suggest A Very Supernatural Christmas.  It contains the best snapshot to me of what Supernatural is.  It's not my favorite episode but it's high up there and a great one to come in cold on.

    ReplyDelete
  118. You'll have to get them to vote from home or phone because most offices share an IP address which means only 1 vote can come from there.

Supernatural vs Fringe is very difficult for me. I love both shows, but Fringe needs the support more than Supernatural. So Fringe it is!

    ReplyDelete
  122. my bad i was looking at the wrong poll :')

    ReplyDelete
  123. SPN forever! (And Firefly in the other poll) But yeah, this one was an easier pick than the other day, that's for sure. (Always is with SPN as an option!)

    ReplyDelete
  124. Oh my.. Fringe vs Supernatural is very, very difficult. But Fringe needs all support it can get.. I remember the fight for Season 4... so Fringe it is.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Ok. These two are my two favorite shows at the moment. Let’s see some similarities and differences (sorry if it is too long a post):
    “Similarities (differences FRINGE vs. SPNl)”:
Core importance of Family (father/son vs. brother/brother)
Jokes about food (Walter’s obsession with desserts vs. Dean’s addiction to cheeseburgers)
Certain connection to The X Files, frequent homage to it (sci-fi  cases vs. supernatural cases)
Often begins with a gory opening (bad use of science vs. monster’s attack)
FBI agents (FBI Fringe division vs. fake FBI agents)
They fight against Shapeshifters (organic machines vs. monsters)
Open to other dimensions (alternate universes vs. heaven/hell/alt. realities)
Awesome otherworldly character played by Sebastian Roché (Thomas J. Newton vs. Balthazar)
Risky  episodes  (Brown Betty, LSD vs. Meta episodes as The French Mistake)
Certain beings are able to go beyond human limits:  immortality, access to alternate realities, time travel, telekynesis, psychcological control, pyrokinesis…  (mad scientists vs. supernatural beings or people influenced by them: actually the episodes “Marionette” of Fringe and ·”Time Is On My Side” (SPN) both feature a scientist achieving some kind of immortality).
People influenced since kids to have special powers (cortexifan kids vs. Azazel’s special kids)
There is some attention towards God (Walter wants God’s forgiveness vs. Castiel needs God’s intervention or orientation)
End of the World Scenario (Collision vs. Apocalypse)
Intro changes in some episodes (F/B or Over There episodes vs. special homage episodes)
Fight against nuanced enemies (the main enemies just have a different perspective vs. the enemy is really evil, as the devil and the demons, or not, as the angels and some redeemed monsters)
There is bad and good in the main characters (Walter has done really bad things vs.  Sam, Dean and Castiel have also done really bad things)
A substance is used as protection from danger (amber vs. salt or blessed water)
Both are serialized shows with mythological episodes and standalone ones (Fringe is more serialized vs.  SPN is more standalone, in my opinion)
    etc.

What I find awesome in Fringe, unparalleled by Supernatural:  The observer’s plot and how the same plot reaches a new unprecedented level each season.
What I find awesome in Supernatural, unparalleled by Fringe: Their ability to change genres and make comedy, western, etc. without going much out of their way.
Final decision:  I’m a Fringie at heart who happens to love the Winchester brothers (although I haven’t always enjoyed every step of their Supernatural journey). I’m also more of a sci-fi lover than a horror lover; although I admit that SPN makes me laugh and cry more often than Fringe, Fringe really satisfies me and surprises me more at an intellectual level. So my vote is for FRINGE, and I really would like to see it win. But anyway, this is my homage to two incredibly interesting shows and their great casts and crews together with their passionate fans: we are not so different from each other, just complementary.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Voted for Supernatural! GO Supernatural! And also for Firefly, it deserves place 3 :)

    ReplyDelete
  127. I watched Supernatural at the beginning consistently and then dropped off at around season 3 or so. It was interesting and held my attention, but I never got attached to it. It was (and is, I would presume) well-produced and it was nice to see some X-Files veterans working on it, but I never felt a kinship with it, though I wish I did. Three shows have notably achieved that, The X-Files, LOST, and Fringe, so obviously my vote goes for Fringe, even though I remember watching Supernatural ages ago. I don't remember the fanbase being this enthusiastic years ago either, which is brilliant to see. Tough poll.

    ReplyDelete
  128. My EXACT thoughts and feelings on the topic...

    ReplyDelete
  129. Tried watching SPN. Just can't get that into it, sorry. A little too off for me. Fringe gets my vote here.

  130. SPN's lead slowly dropping from 291 one hour ago to 243 and is now at 257. Keep votes coming, I'm going to bed. Night!

my vote, as always, belongs to supernatural
its one of those select few shows that i have become obsessed with but i love it far more than i loved any of the others
i don't think i will ever love a show as much as i love supernatural, i love the concept, the story, the characters, the epic mix of horror and comedy and just how dedicated the fanbase is, it makes a show so much more than just something you watch every now and then on tv (if only they would ever play it here on aussie tv!)

second vote for third place went to vampire diaires. its another one of my fave shows out at the moment, and i haven't seen firefly

    ReplyDelete
  132. I am so torn! Castiel becomes the new God or two universes merge without ever knowing Peter? Decisions, decisions!

    ReplyDelete
  133. Supernatural and Vampire Diaries

    ReplyDelete
  134. Awesome post.  I came to the exact opposite conclusion since the Winchester brothers grabbed  my heart and made me care for their characters far more than anyone in Fringe.  However, it's great to see people who appreciate both.  They really are more similar than different, right down to the fandoms.

    ReplyDelete
  135. My vote goes to Fringe, and only because last season of Supernatural was horrible.. Super natural should end asap before it pisses all over their cult reputation...

    ReplyDelete
  136. Oh please speak for yourself.
Some people said that about Fringe this year after the cartoon.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Mines too is with Supernatural been watching forever in I love it still.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Who gives a shti about stupid people :D

    Cartoon frige was awesome :D

    ReplyDelete
  139. Fringe, only because I've watched it all and have just started Supernatural
(I still don't comprehend how Firefly is in third place though)

    ReplyDelete
  140. Supernatural is the best show ever, best cast, best writing and deserves the attention other shows like Fringe get in mainstream award shows, but it won't so we fans have to get it for the show however we can!

While Fringe seems interesting (I’ve never actually seen it ahhhh I know I need to; however after FX’s comments about moving it to the Friday time and such I really don’t have any urge to do so) Supernatural still wins. Fringe may have been planned from the beginning (I have once again no idea how it works at all) Supernatural was changed from the get go. It started off as a ‘horror’ show to scare people, but Kripke noticed the chemisty between the two lead actors and realized it could be something more and acted accordingly, writing the show to focus on family. It’s not stuck to a script (though 6.22 did happen?) but instead the characters and actors have changed the idea and shaped it into a better and stronger story. And I am drawn in by the emotion of this show.
(I also have to say, the fact that SPN has practically no support from its network has made the fandom extremely strong, we had to fight for our show nearly every season. Fringe does have the benefit, while not much, of a network that is somewhat interested in them and gives them commercials and some way for people to get into the show. It’s a good thing for Fringe of course and they have had to fight for some things, but the fans would be ‘stronger’ in a way if they had to fight for their show as much as SPN fans have had to)

    ReplyDelete
  145. Quite true:). Maybe the same thing will happen in the, uh, 47th hour?

    ReplyDelete
  146. I know, Dahne, I admit that the Winchesters have a way to get to one's heart, I just happened to have devoted so much attention to Fringe before learning about Supernatural that it's hard in my case to beat my attachment to their characters, but they are almost equal at the emotional level by now.

Another special point I would compare for both shows is music. I absolutely love the music of Fringe. Especially the Over There Theme and a lot of other typical melodies. It's a special kind of music that's is just my type, as sci-fi is my genre. I understand music is also a great asset in Supernatural, but that kind of music is totally new to me, I'm not used to it and I can't appreciate it well, that's why I love when other fans, like you have often done, comment about it, so that I'm learning to appreciate it too. I didn't include it in the previous post, because it didn't feel fair to say Fringe music is better. They are very different, but in both cases a very special element that helps each show to shine.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Thank you so much for the effort you've put in to that well-constructed, considered opinion - I'm a huge Fringe fan, never watched SPN (on the most random (40yrs+) channel in NZ). But now I will make the time to watch it.

    ReplyDelete
  148. So people not liking Fringe are stupid cause they have different taste, but people not liking Spn are so smart and perfect and know the one and only truth? great logic

    ReplyDelete
  149. I'm pretty sure she WAS speaking for herself.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Now on the music we will have to disagree (at least about the first 2 seasons of Fringe).  I find the music of Fringe highly forgettable, but the classic rock, especially in the first 3 seasons, of Supernatural is one of my biggest delights. Of course, I understand that if people aren't fans of AC/DC, BOC, Styx, Boston, etc. then that probably won't be a draw.  But for me, nothing beats to brothers on the run from the FBI to the sounds of Renegade or that beautiful black Impala racing down the road to Back in Black.

    ReplyDelete
  151. I'm am all about Supernatural and its fandom but I think it's fair to say that Fringe fans have had to fight also.  They have the advantage of a studio head that likes the show but it was a real coup for them when Fringe got renewed this year.  They know what it's like to be on the bubble and to campaign hard.  Now with a change of regime at the CW, I hope Supernatural also gets a Fringe-like relationship with Mark Pedowitz.  I agree though - fandoms get stronger when they have to fight to keep their show alive.  I think that's why Supernatural, Chuck, Fringe, and Firefly do so well in online polls.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Idontthinkwereinkansas20 July 2011 at 02:51

I wasn't trying to discredit their fight this year, Supernatural fans have just had more seasons to fret over and a network that cares more about teen romance than any of it's other shows(and it is hard for me to imagine a network caring less than fox does). I hope it will be different with this Mr. Pedowitz too, it'd be nice to see some commercials or promotion for spn. Again, not to discredit the Fringe fans. They did deal with a lot this year, and I would like to hear from them how it helped them grow as a fandom/if it did since it seems like the first time they've had to fight that hard while Spn/chuck/firefly fans ect are used to facing cancellation head on.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Supernatural regrettably sprinkled in modern rock tracks throughout the first two seasons.  It wasn't until season 3 that they started to almost exclusively stick to the classic rock catalog.

    ReplyDelete
  154. I am new to Supernatural, started watching on TNT about three months ago but got so sucked in I got on Netflix and had a marathon to catch up. I've never done that for any show. I also find myself on message boards, like this one and campaigning for votes and looking at Fan Art and videos not to mention Fan Fiction all of which is completely new to me. No show has made this kind of impression on me. The fact that it has its own culture, community and even code words was a brilliant surprise. So I have to give the show credit, it's like the best book I ever read and I can't wait for the next chapter. For the writing alone it's the best show on TV. The comedy, drama, sense of family and overarching theme of heroism resonates with the core human being in me. So Supernatural all the way.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Yeah both shows had it rough for different reasons. While Fringe benefited from network executive love, it also faced the challenge of competing on a network with astronomical ratings. Supernatural got absolutely no support from its network, and I'm sure it would have been cancelled a long time ago had it not performed so well, but being on CW gave it a chance. Namely the fact that it only had to compete with failing shows that made it easily the second highest rated show on the network and hence easily renewed.

  157. I think it's highly unfair for you to try and speak for everybody here
as well as insult the Supernatural fans and their show. I see nobody
here that is a Supernatural fan doing this to Fringe or their fans.
You're making this into something personal when it's not necessary.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Oh let me make a phone call to the CW and tell them to cancel their sucessful, popular show because you don't like it.

    ReplyDelete
  159. I'm sure you'll be here voting for Supernatural next year. The show gets so much better in season 2 and onward.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Fringe's score is anything but forgettable.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Posts like this are the opposite of what we need here. I happen to love both shows quite a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Amazing Final Round Video!!
It truly captures the essence of both wonderful shows, my two favourite shows.
Congratulations and thank you for doing this!

    ReplyDelete
  163. Really great mate! Good stuff :D

    ReplyDelete
  164. You might want to reconsider the second part of that statement lol. While Fringe gets quite a bit of critical love it has been snubbed in every non-Scifi awards show.

    ReplyDelete
  165. They seem to be pretty evenly matched to me. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  166. Hey, hey hey now, no hatin' on my Soundgarden or Alice in Chains. I was so happy to hear those songs in SPN... :)

    ReplyDelete
  167. Fringe gets shoved to the side just as much as Supernatural, I'm afraid.
    It's a cruel joke, really.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Right now it's neck and neck, so it looks like we're getting a good finale after all. :)

    ReplyDelete
  169. I use "regrettably" to describe the thematic inconsistency.  It is not a judgment on the quality of music used.

You'll never read a post of mine badmouthing Soundgarden Or Alice In Chains.  I was lucky enough to see both bands live in their prime.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Fringe, Fringe, Fringe!

    ReplyDelete
  171. I finally got a legitimate reason to juxtapose Supernatural with Fringe...I'm just so glad I could do it. :D

    ReplyDelete
  172. Watch out, I think Fringe is doing it again.....

    ReplyDelete
  173. You b*st*rd. I got to see AiC (and they were great of course) but it was after Layne died.
Soundgarden is NOW on tour but it won't be the same, I just know it.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Fringe is closing the gap.
It seems that Fringe has a tendency to do that...
I'm just so proud of my top two shows. :D

    ReplyDelete
  175. Reread the stats for both shows. Supernatural has actually had more Emmy nominations than Fringe. Fringe is severely snubbed!

I love both shows and I'm happy with either winning, but I hope Fringe wins because it really had a fantastic 3rd season where it really came into its own by telling really complex stories.

    ReplyDelete
  176. I don't comment here all too often, but I told myself that if Fringe made it into the final, I would write a comment supporting Fringe, so here I am.

While certainly everyone has different opinions on what makes a TV show good, I have to say I think Fringe has it all.  Fringe seems to have a little bit of something for anyone who will give it a chance.  Fringe has all the makings of a fantastic show: characters who you can relate to, compelling and intriguing stories, memorable humor, rich, genuine emotion, gruesome events, outstanding production quality, etc.  Fringe is a show that never seems to get old no matter how much I watch it and it just keeps getting better as the story progresses.  As with any show, there are things that I wish had been handled differently (John Scott, Shapeshifter Charlie, and the Olivia switch, to name a few) but more often than not, it gets things right.  And when Fringe gets it right, it exceeds any and all expectations.  I suppose everyone could make a similar argument for their favorite show, but I genuinely think that Fringe surpasses any other show.

I suppose Supernatural is a good enough show -- it certainly has the support -- but for me, no matter what show Fringe was up against, there would be no question.  I think most people are expecting Supernatural to win this, but it sure would be wondrous if Fringe pulled a surprise victory.

    ReplyDelete
  177. I haven't watched all that much Fringe, but I do love the actors, especially John Noble who has been a favorite of mine for a long time. But I just still don't connect to the Fringe characters, and that is not to say Fringe isn't a good show, it is and it deserves to be in this competition, but I just don't have my heart and soul drawn into the show. Maybe in the future somewhere down the line it will happen but so far I just never felt connected watching the stories.

But to be fair, it took Supernatural more than 3 years before I was sucked into their stories. I loved the show well enough and watched it sporadically in the first three seasons, but once Season 4 started, Supernatural went from just a monster hunting show to something a lot more dramatic and complicated and compelling than I ever thought a little show about two hunting brothers ever would. The tales of demon vs. angels, the battles to stop the Apocalypse, and the bond of brotherhood whether by blood or by heart, all of that just drew me in, and most of all, the entrance of the character of the angel Castiel who rebelled against Heaven to save humanity. That was the moment Supernatural gave me something to connect to and I have been drawn in ever since. And for a little show on the CW, and often simply judged as some teen fantasy show with pretty boys, the show has consistently broke the barrier. It is a show with genuine emotion, outstanding production despite the harsh budget cuts, comedy, memorable moments, compelling and intriguing storylines, and every season the show grew and changed and expanded. Every time the enemies were badder and the storylines were bigger. It's a show that's survived 6 years when no one thought it would even last past one season, so if you have to ask me, Supernatural has fought its way through every step of the way with amazing writing and a brilliant cast who always get the job done.

All that being said, both Fringe and Supernatural have passionate fans and they are both great shows. Whatever happens in this voting, whoever wins, it doesn't take away from the fact that both shows are fantastic in their own ways and both are winners. It's important we remember that.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Fringe has jumped the shark with the soul magnets things, that was pure filling... i'm done with jj abrams shows...

    ReplyDelete
  179. I wouldn't count out SPN just yet either, there is still one more day to go, a lot can happen. :)

    ReplyDelete
  180. Love both shows and watch them both religiously, but Supernatural 100% gets my vote!!  Firefly easily for the bronze.
