Spoiler TV: The Best TV Show Competition 2011 - Day 34 - Semi Final 2 - Fringe vs. Firefly

19 Jul 2011

Hey Guys,

Yesterday was by far the biggest day of the competition so far, scoring well over 9,000 votes in a poll that saw Supernatural beat Vampire Diaries with a huge tally of votes just under 5,000. The Vampire Diaries came so close to beating the show which also was the victor in the final last year, but it wasn't quite enough... Supernatural reaches its second final out of two and is well placed for another win.

Today will decide who joins Supernatural in the Final of the 2011 TV Show Competition, and it will either be Fringe or Firefly, two shows that have had differing fortunes in the sci-fi drama world but both hit our screens from FOX and won over a lot of people for many different reasons. Who will win is the only question left to answer!

The rules for, for anyone new to the competition are very simple. There will be new sets of shows against each other every day in a new set of polls... simply vote for your favourite and the show with the most votes will win that days poll and head into the next round.

Don't forget to spread the word, and tweet out the competition to friends as well as facebook liking the post...
Also if you are taking part in the prediction competition, don't forget to follow your scores HERE Long time leader Sergey Sevostianov is almost home and dry with a huge 128 points. He has been virtually perfect in his selections and deservedly finds himself still sixteen points clear of Zedd & TheOne who hold joint second place...

All that's left to say, is good luck to every show...
... and let the battles begin!

  13. Fringe all the way. Though I don't see what the point is. We all know that Supernatural is going to win in the end, regardless. As much as I love that show, and I seriously do enough to write fanfics and comment on fanboards, I think Fringe was the better show this year out of the two.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Firefly has a lot of votes going for it too.
This is going to be one heck of a poll.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I was thinking the same thing. *POP* there it is!

    Fringe!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yeah, Fringe season 3 was > SPN season 6... in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  18. hahaha. I had some time this morning so I had it all prepared...

I just needed to fill in the 'who won' paragraph, say how Sergey once again is too good at predicting and add in the number of votes that ydays poll got at the top of the 'most voted' poll... :P

    ReplyDelete
  19. CJ... this must be discussed in our next podcast :P

    ReplyDelete
  20. In this round I'll have to vote for Fringe! I wasn't as happy with it this season, I didn't like the quasi love triangle plot that much, and as a college student with over 20 units, I really didn't have time to follow it in the second half of the season. Next round will be a different story, but for now, it's Fringe!

    ReplyDelete
  21. go fans of fringe

    ReplyDelete
  22. for the second place at least

    ReplyDelete
  23. I voted Fringe.. I think we're going to get Supernatural this year. I love Firefly. I would love more Firefly. but gotta go with who I think can win this. also I think the rerunning Firefly season this past year has a lot to do with the surge in popularity.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I vote for firefly. I somehow liked this little outsider series. I started to watch Fringe but never got warm with it, can't say why.

    ReplyDelete
  25. choose FRINGE FRINGE

    ReplyDelete
  26. i love "firefly"..but i think that fringe gonna win..."firefly" was one of the first show to be saved by his fans...thanks to them, we had a movie to close the story of this amazing characters...

    ReplyDelete
  27. Fringe for me. I've never seen Firefly, and I do love Fringe.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Firefly for me! Although I love Fringe too! :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love both shows, but Fringe forever!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Fringe, but only since the characters got a chance to develop more due to the seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  31. At first I read read one hack the poll and thought not again.  :-P

    ReplyDelete
  32. by the time we do the podcast this should all be finished. So we can have a good discussion on the highs and lows :) :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Fringe. All the way to number one.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I voted for Firefly. It's not my favorite show by any means but although I really tried with Fringe, I couldn't  engage with any of the characters and gave up. Maybe I'll give it another try. My husband likes it now, and he was in the same position as me - so we'll see.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Wow! Fringe is only ahead by 14 votes! This is going to be a battle!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I posted a note on the Fringe wall. Let's see if it works.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh damn. That's actually REALLY hard! Fringe or Firefly. Firefly or Fringe. (Good thing the next poll will be easier.)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ooo, my vote for Firefly made it a tie. Someone keep it going!

    ReplyDelete
  39. And now Firefly's up by 13! Exciting :-D

    ReplyDelete
  40. I am glad Supernatural won.  I am voting for Firefly.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Go Firefly.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Fringe.  Without a doubt.  It's not even close.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm sitting this one out too. I haven't watched either of the shows.I tried to watch Fringe, I watched 3 episodes I think, but it didn't grab me. I'm thinking about picking it up again though, seeing as it has such a solid fanbase and good reviews. I would appreciate the lovely fans of both shows (particularly Fringe) if they told me a little about their shows and why they love them. Please keep your posts spoiler free because I do intend to watch if I like what I hear.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Except I've never said anything like that, so you would do well to pay better attention :P

    ReplyDelete
  45. People seem to overrate Fringe's/underrate Firefly's chances for winning... As it is evidenced in the poll right now.
    CORTEXIFANS, UNITE!

    ReplyDelete
  46. lol, cause you want SPN to win the final? :P

    ReplyDelete
  47. I never underestimate the voting power of the misguided masses.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Why is Fringe losing this?

    ReplyDelete
  49. It's incredible that a show with 13 episodes is so popular... I think people support the fact it never got the chance to be the show it could've been...

    ReplyDelete
  50. Fringe, without a doubt.

I love Firefly, I don't understand how it can be deemed the best TV show due to its length. I know, I know, those 14 episodes were awesome but, unfortunately, very few characters got the development needed to make the series one of the greatest, IMO. I love the characters on Serenity but none of them as well-thought out of a character than Walter or Olivia. Fringe, however, had a rocky start but has become an absolute monster of a television show, in a good way. Anna Torv as Olivia Dunham and John Noble as Walter Bishop have been giving two of the best performances on television for two years now and the characters are fully formed people that never cease to be interesting and entertaining. Fringe has certainly had many more bad episodes than Firefly, but consistency isn't everything, especially when one of the shows only has to be consistent for half a season. As much as I love Firefly and those 14 episodes, I love more than 14 episodes of Fringe so much more than those episodes of Firefly.

    ReplyDelete
  51. 3 episodes. Were they by any chance the first 3? Bleccch! Yes. Do try again.

You want to know why I love Fringe. Okay. The characters are well-drawn and the acting is superb. The lead character, a female, is brilliant and yet quite human, and she is aided by a team of brilliant scientists. The intrigue intensifies week by week, and yes, there is a bit of romance, but that is more peripheral, not integral to the story.

Saying more would be spoilage, but do give Fringe another try. And let us know what you think!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Rose-colored glasses.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Because Joss Whedon has the power to manipulate many people to his cause... :P

    ReplyDelete
  54. The first three aren't the greatest its true... although I do like them more now then I did back in the day!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I have to go with Firefly.  The character are so much richer and the story-line is so much more complex, even though it had so much less airtime.  If it were made today, each episode would be stretched to a full season.

    ReplyDelete
  56. :-)  Look for people with full names and a last initial who have a predilection for all things Summer Glau.

    ReplyDelete
  57. fringe is losing

    ReplyDelete
  58. So it was a really tough decision for you.  I feel for the way your heart is breaking.

    ReplyDelete
  59. "I think we're going to get Supernatural this year."

Sorry for being nosy but does that mean that you currently can't get Supernatural in your country?

    ReplyDelete
  60. no matter fringe is better than any show

    ReplyDelete
  61. I've only seen the first 2 seasons which are more procedural than serialized.  The series apparently had an overhaul into a more serialized nature for season 3.  Think Supernatural season 1 for Fringe 1 &2 with Fringe 3 being more like Supernatural's 4/5.  Not in plot of course but in the types of stories being told.  I also hear that most people like 3 the best.

For me the reason to watch Fringe, besides it being like X-Files but a bit more out there, is John Noble and Joshua Jackson.    Their dynamic as an estranged father and son is what I enjoyed most in the first two seasons.  To watch Peter start hating his father and then gradually coming to need him as much as Walter needs Peter was a great transformation and what set Fringe apart from other procedurals for me.

    ReplyDelete
  62. The simple fact is that any of the three could win.  It depends on who gets the word out the fastest and the longest.  People should vote for the show they like best.

    ReplyDelete
  63. just not enough to stop his shows getting cancelled :(

    ReplyDelete
  64. Agreed and that its fandom has long memories of working together to actually get a movie made.  That's a tremendous feat for anyone but for a group of people to get a studio to make a movie out of a canceled TV show is astonishing.  It was like the second coming of Star Trek.  Firefly's fandom has a lot to be proud of.  I honestly think that fandoms that have had to fight to keep their show on the air have a better chance on online polls because they've already worked together towards a common goal and have connections.

    ReplyDelete
  65. laughs.. no i think fringe is going to beat supernatural this year..  SPN is quite the Goliath on these polls ;o)  it's not a bad show, i just like Fringe better.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Ha!  I see.  I think there will be many fandoms combining to try to bring Supernatural down this year.  Still, you have to win this one first.  (And I hope you do.)

    ReplyDelete
  67. Firefly FTW! Can't stop the Serenity!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Perhaps because network studio heads aren't people?

    ReplyDelete
  69. OMG get over it already . Firefly was canceled 80 years ago. FRINGE FRINGE FRINGE FRINGE FRINGE FRINGE FRINGE FRINGE FRINGE FRINGE FRINGE FRINGE FRINGE FRINGE FRINGE

    ReplyDelete
  70. I find The Results of this poll .... weard!
Fringe for me. The only serialized TV show that truly hit it out of the park. Wait, did I say serialized? oh! Fringe is still shining, just give it a chance already, and discover how unique are its storylines, let alone its character. PERFECTION.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I actually thought I would vote for Fringe but I just finished re-watching Firefly and... damnit, I have to vote for it. That show just gives me that feeling of being in the universe with them, being another member of the crew. I freakin' adore Fringe to death so I guess this was always gonna be a tough one.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Agreed.

Though, it's about the show as a whole.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Did you watch after the first half of season one?

I felt exactly the same... characters were boring and annoying to begin with. But they really got a whole lot better.

    ReplyDelete
  74. First season is pretty crap so wouldn't call it perfection but it definitely grew into something amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Does it matter when it was cancelled? Fringe will end eventually and I bet it won't be remembered like firefly has been

    ReplyDelete
  76.  Umm, I'm sorry, but I can't really believe this. I've been monitoring
the poll for the past 5 minutes and Firefly is getting a vote like every
10-20 seconds! Can you check and make sure that the poll isn't in some
    way being tampered with, Adam?

    ReplyDelete
  77. Fringe beat buffy .glee and veronica mars and with more that 1000 votes but now  only has 500 votes

    ReplyDelete
  78. The poll has just started.  Give it time.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Unfortunately,I can't offer an opinion on this one..
Never watched Firefly..Never even heard of it until this poll,to be honest..Although,now I'm in a huge dilemma.I want to watch it,but I'll probably like it and I'll be terribly disappointed that it was cancelled..
As for Fringe..I gave it a shot and I really wanted to like it,but it never managed to grow on me..  : (

    ReplyDelete
  80. Firefly! It's a pity that FOX aired the original episodes "out of order" :-(  or the show might have been renewed. The browncoats were a rabid enough fanbase that the movie "Serenity" was made and the movie is one of my top 10 favorite scifi movies of all time!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Most likely it just went up on an influential Joss Whedon site.  I'm not one to spout cheating but my guess is that all rounds with Firefly are heavily monitored because of the problem with the character contest last year.  At least I hope so.  Firefly wins make me skeptical now too, but generally when things get a bump it's because a new part of the fandom has just heard of the poll.  I expect Fringe will have a few bump ups too along the way.

    ReplyDelete
  82. An influential Joss Whedon site that isn't Whedonesque, Does such a thing exist?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Excuse me, I take exception to remark. As Daphne said "up thread", people should vote for their favorite of the two choices and I liked Firefly much more than Fringe. I'm not misguided ... I just consider Fringe boring and I consider myself a major scifi movie/tv show geek. Plus, it's early yet and Fringe maystill  beat the "browncoats" off Firefly.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I strongly suggest you run and get watching coz you'll be bombarded by replies - never heard of Firefly! Sacrilege! Even tho you know its only one season long, its worth 10 years of most other shows. (plus then there's the movie!)

    ReplyDelete
  85. Yeah I admit it - that's about when I gave up. I probably will give it another try, but tbh I don't watch much tv period, so going back to something I already gave up on seems like too much effort.  Yes. I'm a lazy assbutt. :)

    ReplyDelete
  86. I'll probably deserve all the replies... ; )
In my defense though,I was 10 when it aired and not many shows come over here..So technically,it's not my fault!Better late than ever though!

    ReplyDelete
  87. To be fair, Buffy and Angel ran for 7 and 5 years. And in regards to Angel, word came out after that had Whedon not pushed for an answer to its renewal way ahead of time, it wouldn't have been cancelled. Still, 5 years is a good run, and the show ended on a high.

    Firefly was cancelled mid-season.

Dollhouse was cancelled after 2 seasons, and FOX really did give it a chance to gain viewers (though messed around with the format so much it became disjointed and only half the show Whedon wanted to tell).

    ReplyDelete
  88. Because Walter was is the first season. That's enough for me!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Baha.

Speaking of, I actually initially gave up on Supernatural too after a few episodes. Loved the pilot but didn't love the follow-ups so much. It was only when the first season ended that I went back and fell in love with it.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Fringe has me completely hooked, and I could never get into Firefly, so an easy choice.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Really dislike how some only attribute Firefly's popularity to the fact it was cancelled too early and the fans rallied to get a continuation. Or that it's only because of Whedon. Or Fillion. Or whatever else explanation people apply to it other than the fact people simply just loved the show.

For me, I was never apart of the online community. I watched Firefly as a show (actually just rewatched the past few days) and thought it was one of the most innovative series' of its time, and even now. The characters were each so unique from each other - and from most other characters on different shows - and the theme, writing, the universe as a whole, all captured me.

If you're going to bash a show, then just bash it. But going all around the houses finding reasons why the show can't possibly be any good is just annoying. It's not to everybody's tastes, but neither are Pugs, and they are the most awesomest dogs! So there.

    ReplyDelete
  92. remembered?.. now that's odd.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Not the whole "series length" thing again.

Do you also think Oscars are not deserved because characters only get about 2 hours of screentime?

    ReplyDelete
  94. I don't know, all of this seems very fishy to me. Firefly has annihilated Fringe in the vote category over the last couple of hours and Fringe, which amassed nearly 1400 votes against Buffy last round, is struggling at under 600 in this round. Firefly will likely be doubling Fringe's votes within the next 30 minutes.

I will, however, accept the votes the way they are if Adam can come on and confirm that the polls haven't been doctored at all.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Too be fair, all products in the Oscars are about the same length.  It's not like the shorts compete with feature-length movies.  I doubt any shorts would win if that was the case.

    ReplyDelete
  96. that was 1400 in 24 hours, this poll has only been open 6 hours

    ReplyDelete
  97. I'll take your bombardment, KatHale.  I watched Firefly because of the contests last year.  I wanted to see what all of the fuss was about.  I found it to be okay but definitely not gush-worthy.  But that was me.

    ReplyDelete
  98. That's not the point I'm making.

The point is, screentime is irrelevant. It's the impact a show or character has on people and how well-crafted they are.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Wow... Firefly is dominating... Impressive stuff from the veteran show. Fringe needs some support very soon...

    ReplyDelete
  100. The votes are fine... :D Just Fringe is getting its butt whooped :P

    ReplyDelete
  101. I understand your point.  You've made yourself clear in the other polls.  I'm saying your analogy to the Oscars is a bad one.  The Oscars themselves do segregate based on how long a show runs.  You would do better comparing it to a supporting actor or actress nomination.  Some people who win have far less screen time than the people who lose.

    ReplyDelete
  102. My point has nothing to do with comparing two movies that are Oscar nominated.

My point has everything to do with screentime being an issue and people generally commenting that no characters can be built-up in such a short space of time.

Also not an analogy so much as a question to basterboy.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Firefly. I hate Fringe and well, I would vote for most shows against it because I find the characters flimsy and the story lines either dull or something more X-Files like. And I would definitely watch the X-Files if I wanted to watch that. I don't think that Firefly is more exceptional than other shows but as a rule of thumb shows in the late 90s- early 00s were better at storytelling and characters. It's only in the last three years that it's starting to reverse, but Fringe among other shows nearly had me give up watching new shows altogether. I've checked in on it occasionally and whilst its no longer too painful to watch, it has never become a good show in my opinion. Take Alias for example, I hated the show but I recognized that it was a good show.

  104. I agree. I voted for Firefly because I loved the show, that's all there is to it. I was never part of any Firefly online fandom either - all I knew about the FF fandom was that they were fierce fans and called themselves Browncoats. In fact I stopped watching the show after about 10 episodes into it and apparently Firefly was cancelled a few weeks later. My daughter bought the DVDs just before the movie Serenity came out and I was floored by how mich more sense the series made it Fox just showed the episodes in the correct order. Firefly was very character driven and obviously the crew of the shapeship Serenity were a large, loving, dysfunctional "family" unrelated by blood (except the Tams).

Fringe is ok but I just can't get into that much and as someone else said I just can't see the chemistry between the cast members but that just me. I loved most seasons of XFiles but this cast can't duplicate the chemistry between Mulder/Scully/Skinner.

  105. Ah this is so tough!  I love both shows and both deserve to be in the finals!  Regardless of how I vote here, I'll still be voting for Supernatural in the finals though.  Three of the best shows out there!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Well the "series length" thing is a factor. I will like a show more depending on the amount of time the show gives the characters to grow and develop. The length of a series is a key factor in seeing how much your characters can grow and develop believably, and therefore it is important. I love Firefly, I really do. And yet my love of the show only goes far because I'm not as attached to those characters as I am to Olivia, Walter, and Peter. If that's different for you, so be it. And I understand your point that what matters is how well a show uses its time to make an impact. But I'd be willing to argue that Fringe makes a bigger impact and develops its characters and makes them more well-rounded human beings that Firefly does, in part due to the series length, in part due to its huge cast, and also in part due to the fact that the episodes just didn't flesh them out well enough for my liking.

The series length thing isn't the only factor, obviously, but it's one of them. Like I said, the characters of Fringe are more interesting and multi-dimensional than the ones on Firefly, in my opinion. I also love the pace of Fringe, which maintains a nice standalone vs. mytharc ratio in season 3, more than Firefly's, which were almost all standalones. I like the plot of Fringe more and I think it's more visually interesting. Each weekly episode of Fringe gives me more to dissect than your average episode of Firefly (not including "Objects in Space" or "Out of Gas"). And I think Anna Torv and John Noble give better performances than anyone on Firefly.

So, no, it isn't just the "series length thing". That's one of many reasons that I think Fringe is a better show. And no, I'm not saying that no character can be built up in such a short amount of time, I'm saying that in my opinion no character on Firefly was built up in that amount of time.

As for your question after that, I think Oscars are deserved because everyone is on an equal playing field. It's also different because movies are a complete story and Firefly is not. It is a show canceled before its time, not a show that planned on ending for fourteen episodes. But, if a show was canceled after four episodes and that show was nominated for an Emmy up against a show that had a 22 episode season, well I can't help but see that as unfair. One show had far more time to develop its characters and tell a good story, and the other was cut short just as it was beginning. Phew, sorry for length.

  107. did you give Fringe a chance? I mean which season did you watch? Because I heard some Fringe fans say that many people who don't know what's  Fringe is about usually compare it to X Files, so.. I'm just wondering. because you don't go hating serialized shows before really understanding what are they about. merely because, unlike other shows, their methology needs to be fully grasped. I mean more attention should be paid. and that developped during 3 seasons.    So, One thing worth mentionning about Fringe, it's hell much different than X files, the storyline is so compelling, maybe you're refering to the cases of s1, but let me tell you. I had similar thoughts about Fringe, and I gave up on X files after one or two episodes. But for fringe I got too invested in the second half of season 1, and most specifically, in s2.

  108. Firefly is looking good for a Final performance here... stats speak for themselves though... The current shows that do well are shows which have fans that love social media and spreading the word... Supernatural & Vampire diaries managed 900+ tweets and 650+ facebook likes. The poll with Fringe today has 60+ tweets and 25+ facebook likes.
Firefly has fans congregated in huge quantities but in one or two places, like Whedonesque.
The simple truth is that Fringe fans haven't or don't do enough to win a poll like this. Maybe during the TV season when fans are more active they could do better?

    ReplyDelete
  109. I am confuzzled. I thought this would be an easy win for Fringe and SPN fans would be facing them in the final battle. Now it looks like SPN fans have a new and untested foe on their hands, and with all the folks who would be voting against SPN I don't know how this is going to play out. It's uncharted territory from here on out, saltgunners. We better load those silver bullets fast.

Difficult poll. love them both. Went for fringe but really its a tie for me :-)

    ReplyDelete
  111. I think you have to really connect with the cast and characters to be blown away by it like some of us are. Critically though you have to admit it is pretty amazing. I always use "Out of Gas" as an example of great storytelling that uses flashbacks.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I just don't think Fringe fans care as much about polls like this because a lot of the time they(we) have to deal with people who only watched the Pilot or the first season and think they can bash the show. Even looking through this (relatively)short list of comments you get a lot of people hating on Fringe or comparing it to the X-Files.

I've tried motivating some fellow Fringe fans but they honestly don't think the polls will sway people who bash the show or make silly comparisons to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I would only choose X-Files, Buffy, Castle or Dexter over Firefly.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Did not see this coming. I was sure that Fringe would make it to the finals where it would be crushed by Supernatural. I'm surprised.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Then they are missing a golden opportunity.  Last year Supernatural got bashed right and left.  People told us only teenagers watched the show or that we only watched because of hot guys.  Most people who bashed us had not seen a single episode but merely judged it by the CW's definition.  However, we answered every argument and gave personal testimonial one after another and we got some people to watch our show, including Adam btw.  Now Supernatural has a strong presence on SpoilerTV.  Quite frankly compared to last year, all comments have been tame including today's.  Most people are explaining their feelings and not bashing Fringe.  In fact, several people said that they planned to watch it at a later time.  Of any show, I think VD got it worst and it was super tame this year too.

    ReplyDelete
  116. That's a tough choice... had to go with Firefly though.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I don't agree with them(polls are a great way to get exposure) and I agree that the comments here are relatively tame and nice(which is what I love most about SpoilerTV) but Fringe gets a lot of crap elsewhere from sci-fi fans.

You can only take so many comparisons to the X-Files before you want to strap someone down and make them watch Marionette 100x lol.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I think Supernatural vs. Firefly will make for an interesting Final.

I was however rooting for Fringe in this match up.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Supernatural's fans voting for Firefly so It'll be easier for them to win the final. Oh crap.

    ReplyDelete
  120. yes, me too! but I'm happy for Firefly! :D

    ReplyDelete
  121. Firefly was garbage with good potential...

    ReplyDelete
  122. Haaa so funny to see that Fringe Fan can't accept that Browncoat can honestly win this poll.

Hey we have a Movie of Firefly because we're dedicated to this show, so a little pool it's really nothing.

whatever anyones here says about how bad either fringe or firefly are, i have been inspired by todays vote and this competition and all the fantastic commentors here who make this sire so awesome, to start watching both fringe and firefly at the end of this year when i finish school.
i have heard such good things about both of them that its killing me not to be able to join in the conversations

however, i am surpirsed firefly is winning, i was sure fringe would dominate, knowing how well it often does in polls on this site

    ReplyDelete
  124. Huge comeback for Fringe. Just a few hours ago was way back and now less than 200 votes separates the two series.

    ReplyDelete
  125. I'm not sure why Fringe fans would be less social-media conscious than Firefly fans. And I don't know what more I can do: I did post on the Fringe Facebook page and did get get a "like" for that, so I know I'm responsible for at least one extra vote. My cell phone is old so I don't get Twitter. Anyway, right at this time the poll has closed up to a 200 vote difference, so keep your fingers crossed, Fringies!

    ReplyDelete
  126. Wow Fringe fans must be all international...i swear they were 500 votes behind like an hour ago...

    ReplyDelete
  127. Actually I do have a lot of honor for the Browncoats, but a little look on the 2010 competition placing of Fringe and Firefly, I think Fringe is much more deserving to be on that final. GL anyway :)

    ReplyDelete
  128. Likely not all SPN Fans are voting FireFly; there were some very disenchanted "SPN fans" that disliked S6 so much that they were boasting about watching Fringe S3 instead. I'm not one of them ... I enjoyed S6!

    ReplyDelete
  129. In 15 minutes it has gone from less 200 to less 100.

    ReplyDelete
  130. You and me both!
I really enjoyed the first half with RoboSam,but I absolutely loved the second half when all the pieces started falling together..
Plus,I think that some of the show's best episodes were in season 6!

    ReplyDelete
  131. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. The last time I saw the site fringe was losing with only 600 votes

    ReplyDelete
  132. Come on guys, Fringe should definitely win!
Fringe fans around the world, we continue to vote!!!

    ReplyDelete
  133. WHOA WHOA WHOA, where did that comeback come from!!!?

    ReplyDelete
  134. Saw it posted on a couple of large European Fringe sites this morning :) I
guess they missed it last night.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Come on Fringies!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  136. Things like this happens only on the movies LOL :)

    ReplyDelete
  137. C'mon guys... vote for Fringe...!!!

    ReplyDelete
  138. I seriously don't get the firefly love. I watched it and I found it boring (and sometimes ridiculous) and this comes from a sci-fi lover...
My vote goes to Fringe :)

    ReplyDelete
  139. FRINGE FRINGE FRINGE FRINGE

    ReplyDelete
  140. Although I voted for Firefly, I won't be sad if Fringe wins, I love both the shows and it was a tough choice.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Fringe has fans all around the world. That's a known fact that kept me sure about it winning after all. it's a timing essue. And that's also sad when you think about the ratings being counted only insid US.... GO FRINGE FANS!

    ReplyDelete
  142. You're right ... I'm a fan of Fringe and i'm Italian!
    Go Fringedom!!!

    ReplyDelete
  143. Wow, I went to bed thinking FRINGE was getting hammered by Firefly and woke up to see it still way behind. I ate and did a few things and now FRINGE is leading. Did not see that coming.

Wonder if these results will stick now.....

    ReplyDelete
  144. Ahhh. Yeah that will do it. Connect to the right hub and votes explode!

    ReplyDelete
  145. In the last hour Fringe got 321 votes, while Firefly 33...

    ReplyDelete
  146. Hey we have a Movie of Firefly because we're dedicated to this show,Hey we have a Season 4, and the ratings weren't much affected after the frustrating moving to Fridays. about dedicated.....when you're a fan than you're most likely.....dedicated....

    ReplyDelete
  147. I don't want to ruin this for you,I truly don't,I'm just curious...Consider me the voice of reason!  ; )
If things remain as they are now(and they probably will),what will you do in the final??

    ReplyDelete
  148. I thought you really liked both Fringe and Supernatural..
I could be wrong or I may be confusing you with someone else..Sorry if I am,heat is getting to me big time!  :p

    ReplyDelete
  149. Do you like them both?I asked cause I'm sure there are a lot of people who love both Fringe and Supernatural!
    I think it's gonna be interesting,that's all!

    ReplyDelete
  150. No that's me. You're right.
If Fringe wins, it's my two favorites head to head in the final round.
I might not even vote in that round. :X

    ReplyDelete
  151. Thanks Dahne. this has been a crazy poll! i think it may give me an ulcer.. LOL j/k   Good luck to SPN, whoever they face off against.

    ReplyDelete
  152. I'm sure that must suck,I'm sorry..
But think of it that way:Your two favorite shows will be 1st and 2nd!That means you have really good taste! ; )

    ReplyDelete
  153. or most of the people voting in this competition have really bad taste

    ReplyDelete
  154. No,sorry,I like my explanation better!  : )

    ReplyDelete
  155. Hahaha... it will be all finished by then... looking forward to hearing what Anil has to say about Comic-Con

    ReplyDelete
  156. I saw this comment on my iphone as I woke up and I was very curious to see what it meant :P

    ReplyDelete
  157. Haha... I went to bed thinking it had no chance too... It was on 31%!! Incredible stuff from the Fringe fans...

    ReplyDelete
  158. Shame on you!Play nice!
    I'm shocked...Never expected this from you!  :p

    ReplyDelete
  159. The French Mistake
    Frontierland
    My Heart Will Go On
The Man Who Would be King

Those are some of my all time favorites.

    ReplyDelete
  160. We're almost in complete agreement!
I would change "My Heart Will Go On" with "The Man Who Knew Too Much"..
Don't get me wrong,I loved the other one as well! But when it comes to all time favorites I have to leave something out..
Also,I would add "Appointment In Samarra"!
But "The French Mistake" and "The Man Who Would Be King" are in my Top 5!

    ReplyDelete
  161. I'll be voting Supernatural just because Fringe knocked out 2 Whedon shows

    ReplyDelete
  162. I feel exactly the same way... I loved Soulless Sam and JP got a huge kick out of portraying SS/Robo and it showed! But I also intensely missed "Soul!Sam" and agree that the season really started to come together in the second half. The only real problem I had (besides disliking Cas & the angel storyline from the beginning) was I felt the Lisa/Ben storyline should have ended much sooner.

    ReplyDelete
  163. I think voting for Firefly because people do not want to handle with the decision who to vote for on the final between their two favorite shows, it's stupid. This poll made for you so you can vote for the TV shows you love. If you vote for your show, It'll help her a bit to get a higher rank.

    ReplyDelete
  164. From the other universe :)

    ReplyDelete
  165. I agree...That's not what I meant,at all...I just know that there are a lot of people who love both Fringe and Supernatural and I just said that it would be interesting to see how it turns out!
This has nothing to do with Firefly!Of course we vote for our favorite show! : )

    ReplyDelete
  166. Totally with you on the Lisa/Ben thing! It was kind of weird and,in my opinion, unnecessary to see them again, especially so close to the finale!
Not so much with you on the Cas and angel thing, but we can't agree on everything, can we??  ; )

    ReplyDelete
  167. Of course we can disagree! If fans agreed about every single thing about a show it would get pretty boring very quickly because there would be nothing to discuss.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Must be my Facebook post that did it :-)

    ReplyDelete
  169. I'm a Supernatural fan and I voted Fringe.  In fact, I would say this has very little to do with SPN fans.  Supernatural fans come down on both sides of this match.  Furthermore, it is ridiculous to think that either Fringe or Firefly won't pose a problem for Supernatural because many people will vote against SPN simply because they don't want it to win a second time, whether they have seen it or not.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Glad to see Firefly holding it's own this far into the competition, but I suspect we'll be doing another SN/Fringe battle again! Bring it on!!

    ReplyDelete
  171. Weekend at Bobby's
    Family Matters
And then There Were None (if only to get rid of the Campbells)

Lots of great things in season 6.  I really enjoyed RoboSam.  He was funny and so matter of fact.  Then we got Sam back and I loved the brother relationship back even better than ever.  It was a win-win season for me.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Aw, I loved Lisa and Ben.  I think they were good for Dean and I've always liked Lisa.  Ben had some great lines and made some good points too.  I will agree about the angel story line.  That seemed pointless for much of the year until the end.

    ReplyDelete
  173. That's the best thing about this competition.  It gets you excited about shows you may never have heard of.  Last year, I watched Veronica Mars, Vampire Diaries, Firefly, and Chuck because of the competition.  It made hellatus go by faster and I got to discuss these shows as they reappeared this year.

    ReplyDelete
  174. This is the second time you've accused Supernatural fans of voting for Firefly to influence the vote.  First off, where are you getting this information?  And also, couldn't it be possible that many Supernatural fans actually like Firefly? I think you are making an issue out of what is likely nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Nice work FRINGE FANS, but don't give up now! Firefly is making a comeback now and we can't let them do it! We deserve a Supernatural vs Fringe final!!!

    ReplyDelete
  176. This contest is a whole lot more exciting than I was thinking it would be.  Awesome!  Down to the wire in the very last minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Once this round is over, will the finals take place today as well?

    ReplyDelete
  178. WOW, that was close!

    ReplyDelete
  179. Awww it just closed. One more hour and Firefly could win this.

    ReplyDelete
  180. Yay for Fringe! Now the competition begins.
Calling all Fringies in all universes, vote your heart out in the finale.

    ReplyDelete
  181. I literally used that very same technique to get someone to watch DAMAGES the other day. They are on episode 6 and are hooked.
