I just voted
ReplyDeleteBuffy.
ReplyDeleteBuffy!
ReplyDeleteI miss Smallville
ReplyDeleteBuffy for sure, but I can't decide on the second pol! I've loved Smallville for awhile, but Game of Thrones is so good!
ReplyDeleteVoted against Buffy and Game of Thrones :P
ReplyDeleteExactly the same here...
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Buffy and on the second poll Smallville.Even though GoT is awesome i've been watching Smallville for 10 years...
ReplyDeleteBuffy and Game of Thrones FTW!
ReplyDeleteYou don't like GofT?
ReplyDeleteThe choices get easier and easier as I slide further and further down in the rankings. Ha! XD
ReplyDeleteBuffy and Game of Thrones.
The show that carried a network and the show that's reshaping TV.
I did like Smallville, but it was never a great show to me. Just light action and fun. I think it strived to be mediocre at times, but usually stayed near the peak of the bell curve.... Fairly good to very good - and it rarely dropped below or rose above that level of execution.
Game of Thrones!! I hope it wins it all!!! (or maybe LOST....can´t decide)
ReplyDeleteVoted for Heroes in the first pole. I only liked the first season though. Never really watched Buffy.
Is Supernatural still in this thing?
ReplyDeleteBuffy and Game of Thrones. Really another 'no contest' day for me.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I enjoyed Heroes S1 I don't think I could vote for it even if it was up against The Vampire Diaries. I don't have the level of spiteful conviction that would be required for that.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who votes for Heroes over Buffy doesn't understand quality TV.
ReplyDeleteBuffy and Game of Thrones
ReplyDeleteEasy choices today!
god no :P
ReplyDeleteha, my hate for Buffy wins on this poll :P
ReplyDeletePlus like you said, S1 was pretty awesome
Easy polls for the heart: Buffy and Game of Thrones.
ReplyDeletePollwise though, I expect Smallville to win (although GoT is currently ahead :O!)
Why do you hate Buffy?!
ReplyDeleteWow! I can see not watchihng it because you don;t have HBO and don't believe in downloads... or not being a fan of the genre.....but "god no"? Yikes! The strength behind that comment confuses me.....
ReplyDeleteYou already answered for me :P
ReplyDeleteI really dislike fantasy movies and shows and wish HBO would get back to their drama roots, sorry.
No offense but imo it's cr*p :P
ReplyDeleteSeriously? How much of it have you watched?
ReplyDeleteOf course lol. Always on STV. Just check out the previous matchup links at the bottom of the article.
ReplyDeleteBUT have you given it a try :P. Surely you've seen all of the critics raving about how it transcends the genre and how it IS an excellent drama?
ReplyDeleteAnd here's where my bracket busts right open.
ReplyDeletean ep here and there on TV
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should give it more of a chance than that before calling it crap? :)
ReplyDeleteno thanks :)
ReplyDeleteI expect Smallville to win too, but in my poll I was on a Game of Thrones high right before my final edit and the changes deadline.
ReplyDeleteSo I think am one of the few that has GoT beating Smallville. Not that it will help me gain back ground to be in contention like I was earlier.
I voted Buffy and Smallville I like the sound of Game of Thrones but Smallville is Smalllville.
ReplyDeleteLol, yup no chance of winning. That being said, I just got winter-is-coming and westeros to retweet. I may have Smallville in my bracket (and it's definitely a fun show), but it's all about GoT.
ReplyDeleteYour loss!
ReplyDeleteThey are doing Boardwalk Empire and Treme... they're spreading the love between standard dramatic and a more fantasy element to drama quite well atm I think...
ReplyDeleteSame here. In the end I voted for Game of Thrones, the first season was amazing, and it has great potencial....I can't wait to see season 2.
ReplyDeleteBuffy and Smallville. No question, no hesitation.
ReplyDeleteI think GoT has a better chance of winning than people think. Mostly because there have not been near as many people voting and this site is definitely pro-Game of Thrones.
ReplyDeleteBuffy. It all started for me with Buffy, so no question there. That show gets my vote.
ReplyDeleteAs for the second, I didn't know if I should vote 'cause I didn't like the last seasons of Smallville that much - meaning I didn't even watch them - and I haven't yet seen game of Thrones, but then again I used to really enjoy Smallville, so they got my vote.
That's exactly what I thought when I started watching it, and ep here and there.. but then I really tried, and I got more and more into it, and now it's one of my favorite shows! So you can't really call it "crap" just because you've watched a few episodes, you have to really try first! ;)
ReplyDeleteBuffy, no question!
ReplyDeleteSure, it has some flaws.. but it's still one of my favorite shows! It has made me laugh out loud and cry like a baby :')
noooo I'm not gonna try it and I don't care about critics either :P
ReplyDeleteit's just not my thing
yes and I loved BE, Treme I didn't get behind unfortunately
ReplyDeleteI guess you're right but I still don't like it :P
Hi, TV Spoilers. Haven't got a take on GoT but I've got to ditto your comment about critics and add to that, losing faith in Emmys.
ReplyDeleteBuffy and Game of Thrones, easy choice for me today
ReplyDeleteI would be interested to know why you won;t give it a chance. The genre? The fandom's passion? Being contrary to critics? Any number of legit reasons, but I'd like to know yours....
ReplyDeleteOddly enouhg I agree with the critics and awards shows the large majority of the time. That does not mean I don't enjoy shows not nominated etc. I just think The Emmy Awards are spot on most times with their nominations.
I missed the reply earlier... oops.
ReplyDeleteRight on. It's rare I like law genre series so I understand. If you get bored and feel outside yourself one day you might actually enjoy the drama if you tried it. Then again you may not.... XD
Game of Thrones is good, but Smalliville is legacy so i vote in Small and Buffy
ReplyDeleteI know and you're right. I was just bitter because I just read that Sex and the City (ackkk!) won 7 Emmys to The Wire's 2 little nominations.
ReplyDeleteI really, really loathe the Emmys. I'm not saying they don't make good choices occasionally but their history of snubbing Sci-Fi shows/actors is completely ridiculous. They majority of the time they aren't even nominated.
ReplyDeleteThere have been missteps (ahem, LOST).
ReplyDeleteWell, to be truly accurate the majority of awards given to Lost were before it revealed itself to be sci-fi. They didn't even give recognition* to "The Constant" which was, imo, one of the best episodes of Lost or TV ever.
ReplyDelete*Nominated for Cinematography and Music but won neither. Henry Ian Cusick and Jeremy Davies also submitted the episode for nomination but were denied.
Okay, squished thread is squished lol.
Heroes and Game Of Thrones for me!! :)
ReplyDeletewow GoT is winning over Smallville! I didn't expect that! I love both shows, but I think GoT is better :)
ReplyDeleteBuffy is awesome (though im only on season 3) and Smallville since I've been a dedicated fan for a very very long time :D
ReplyDeleteAgree completely, but I'm liking the comment simply for replying to yourself.
ReplyDeleteI love when people do that! XD
voted heroes and smallville
ReplyDeletethough by the looks of it, today will destroy my bracket :(
Fun fact - if Game of Thrones wins, you have to go down to the 30th placement in the competition to find someone who will not have a broken Elite 8 bracket. That should make people who feel all hope is lost for them feel better. (And yes, I am trying to pass time until fireworks.)
ReplyDeleteCommon Smallville guys lets beat game of thorns. Its gotten 10 seasons and game of thorns has just started so they have a lot of chances to win!
ReplyDeleteBuffy!!
ReplyDeleteDon't watch either in the second poll..
Buffy and Smallville.
ReplyDeleteBuffy is a classic and Heroes' problems (despite having my favourite actress, Kristen Bell) far out-weigh Buffy's.
As for Smallville, I think it's got a lot of work to do to catch up to GoT but the fanbase is pretty huge. We just have to give them some time to find it. xD Like Dahne mentioned, I think there are a huge amount of people at the top of the brackets ladder that thought it would win.
Holy crap :O! I failed to judge how many GoT lurkers there were. We're winning by a LOT!.
ReplyDeleteConsidering the fact that the Emmys pretty much snubbed shows like Oz or The Wire, you're right.
ReplyDeleteBuffy and Game of Thrones.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't stand Smallville once season 8 started. Lex leaving may or may not have been the cause.
not such a tough choice for me lol
ReplyDeleteI went for Buffy and Smallville.
ReplyDeleteEven though my vote for Smallville won't make much of a difference in the gap..
GAME OF THRONES FOR ALL THE AWARDS.
ReplyDeleteHANDS DOWN.
xDDDD I did it only for not editing the other and not writing a new one xD but it's kinda funny replying to myself xDDDDDDD
ReplyDeleteBuffy and Smallville for me. I haven´t watched Game of Thrones yet, but I´ve been following on comments, and it sounds pretty cool, but I was a loyal SV fan for years, the only thing that would make me vote agains SV would be Fringe.
ReplyDeleteEasy choices. Since Heroes disappointed me a lot after Season 1 and I enjoy Joss Whedon shows a lot, Buffy got my vote.
ReplyDeleteAnd although I Smallville was a fun 10-year ride, Game of Thrones trumps it with phenomenal settings, casting, character development., simply everything. It even got me so excited, that I listened to the 1st audiobook during the season and started book 2 yesterday since I can't wait for season 2 to start next spring.
wait... I've just seen my bracket and... I picked GoT as winner!! I didn't remember that! lol XDDDD I was sure that my bracket would be doomed 'cause I thought I chose Smallville...lol lol lol
ReplyDeleteWhomever you are, develop taste. Buffy is brilliant and Heroes is garbage. I say this as someone who has watched both shows in their entirety. For someone named TV Spoilers, you sure are narrow-minded in terms of interest.
ReplyDeleteSam, TV Spoilers is one of the Senior Editors here are spoilertv.
ReplyDeleteThere is no need to be rude and people here are allowed to express their
opinions.
I am the owner of the site, and like TV Spoilers, I also dislike Buffy.
In future learn to tolerate other peoples opinions, you'll find you'll enjoy
life better when you do.
How are the audiobooks? Any big name doing the narration?
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteI was expected to wake up and find GoT behind Smallville like the other last-minute reversals in the past week or two, but Game of Thrones has actually INCREASED its lead!
Game of Thrones has more lurkers than most thought and may indeed pull the upset off in the next round.
It is known.
sorry to see Smallville is losing because of ten years
ReplyDeleteBuffy because Heroes is dreadful. Game of Thrones might be the best series I've ever seen so voted for that, even though I absolutely love Smallville
ReplyDeleteBuffy cuz..... well...... it's BUFFY for pete's sake!
ReplyDeleteAnd Smallville cuz it did survive ten seasons, and still had a strong fanbase till the end.
I like Game of Thrones but I'm guessing there'll be more opportunities in the future to vote for it.
Buffy because I used to love the show.
ReplyDeleteSmallville because the last seasons entertainted me, the special effects where - for CW standards - tremendously good and it survived 10 seasons, which granted it my respect.
I also haven't watched GoT yet. I'll try catch up to it when I get the time.
Oh Dang you don't like the Buffster either?
ReplyDelete:(
Well, the thing about taste is that it is all subjective. "TV Spoilers" has 'taste', but their 'taste' doesn't coincide with your own. I personally think Buffy's great, but that doesn't mean everyone and their mother has to love Buffy as well. Why? The very thing you mentioned: taste.
ReplyDeleteWow, it's like you're reading my mind or something. I completely agree.
ReplyDeleteIKR? I think mine just hemorrhaged all over the floor.
ReplyDeleteThey are very good so far. The first one was over 33 hours long and read by Roy Dotrice who uses many different voices for the characters. You sure can find some free audio samples on the net and decide if you wanna give it a try.
ReplyDelete"It is known." really? lol Have to cringe every time I hear that sentence from Dany's maids.
ReplyDeleteI voted for Buffy & Thrones on this one the other day. Even though GoT is a one season show up against the decade-long Smallville, I voted for Thrones for it's amazing cast, performances, production value, and potential.
ReplyDeleteThis is why I wasn't worried about picking LOST over VD. I knew it was over for me once I saw Game of Thrones win round one. I expect to lose one in the next round too but it will be much, much closer.
ReplyDeleteI missed these polls, but so happy Game of Thrones won!!!
ReplyDeleteIt was 10 seasons vs 10 episodes and still GoT beats the hell out of Smallville ;)
I did not expect Game of Thrones to be THIS strong.
ReplyDeleteI'm sad to see Smallville go. Next year it can be under cancelled shows and forever live on in our hearts :P
ReplyDeleteRight, so, this is months old, BUT, I need to address your comment.
ReplyDeleteThe people who vote for the Emmys are NOT TV Critics. Check out Hitfix, aolTV, Cultural Learnings, Alyssa Rosenberg on Thinkprogress, TIME, TVMcGee, TVSurveillance, the A.V. Club, etc.
They don't fawn over Modern Family, they love Community, Cougar Town, and Louie. The TCAs, which are happening right now, are filled with people who appreciate good television. The whole notion of critical acclaim vs. high ratings is basically what they're all about. Look at the drama that went down on the 2 Broke Girls panel. It was entirely thoughtful people confronting the creator about racism.
My conclusion: TV Critics are worth your time and they will be the first to admit that the Emmys are a joke.
