Hi ! Today's poll is about Curb your Enthusiasm. Since Curb your Enthusiasm is the show all the kids are talking about and because the 8th season premiered last night, I guess it would be nice to have a poll about the seven seasons of the show : which one is your favourite ?
Curb your Enthusiasm, it's 70 episodes produced since 2000, 10 episodes of 30 minutes per season, a new season every 18 months since season 3. I know, it's not much, but everyone should give it a try because it is pure comedy gold each and every time.
Curb your Enthusiasm would be TV's oldest series still in production if it weren't for animated series The Simpsons (1990), South Park (1997) and Family Guy (1999), plus procedural Law & Order SVU (1999). CSI, which will be entering its 12th season next September (251 episodes so far), premiered just 9 days before Curb your Enthusiasm.

It's a very tough decision, because it's a sitcom, because seasons are so short and because to me it is the best comedy ever created, so picking one season out of all the others is tough.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm gonna have to go with season 7, since I remember thinking to myself after finish episode 7.10 that Curb your Enthusiasm is probably the only show that gets better and better over the years. I find that incredible, especially because I had found the previous 6 seasons absolutely brilliant, there was nothing wrong with them, but season 7 was slightly better. The Seinfeld reunion incorporated in CyE ? Best idea ever. And all the episodes not talking about that storyline were pieces of comedy gold as well.
You can tell Curb your Enthusiasm comes from the guy who created Seinfeld, you feel the same 'it's a show about nothing' vibe. LD always finds ways to come up with hilarious stuff out of the most ordinary things in our society, he dissects our manners and our ways of life, and the worst thing is that we can all rely to the storylines he finds himself into, he can come across as an asshole and an outcast whereas he's absolutely right. Is it weird that a 19 year old guy like me sometimes identifies with a 63 year old ? Probably, but anyway I was so happy to get up today knowing I would have 30 minutes of new Curb your Enthusiasm after 18 months without no new episodes.
Anyone who enjoys smart comedies and anyone who finds debatable some of the rules of our society watch that show. LD is both a genius and a wise anarchist.

ReplyDeleteBut S7 had Leon Black in the good spotlight, great guest-actors, Seinfeld-stuff e.t.c.
I agree, season 7 is my favorite as well. And like you said, it's not just because of the fantastic Seinfeld storyline, the swan episode, which had nothing to do with Seinfeld, was probably my favorite episode of the season, Wendy Wheelchair was another great standalone episode.
