Nice to know Sookie's Faery plot is likely not the prime arc of the season (even though I guess I knew that). I love the Bill as a King and a pawn to the American Vampie League arc, and the Eric amnesiac and narco-puppeteering witch coven plotline.
Hotshot is definitely the WTF arc of the season , but might be fun I guess.
GladiaTara could be fun... at least she isn't set up to be the miserable life hating victim again right? Not yet...
I am very happy that a few of the support characters fit into one another plots this year. Andy and his V addiction wedge in with Jason and Hotshot nicely. Lafayette and Jesus and last year's new waitress Holly fit into the Witch story neatly. Jessica (and Hoyt) seem to be going into the Fangtasia scene.
Arlene and her evil baby and evil baby daddy hallucinations will get old fast.. wait. They got old already. Run Terry, run!
Sam needs to die already or move away. He and Tommy are going to wear on my last nerves this season. I can tell already. Wish he would just be the Merlotte's bartender and Sookie's security blanket in time of need. He is the best example of 'not everyone needs their own plot each year'.
I loved this ep, it feels much more like s1/2. Glad to see things finally picking it up lets hope it continues for the rest of the season. I also continue to enjoy pams funny lines "what made you think we where gals?"
SOOooooo much better than the premiere! Wow was the premiere horrid, I really didn't think they would come back from that but this episode was a vast improvement!!
I wish I never read the books though because Alan Ball is screwing so much up with the story, it really irritates me!
I haven't read the books, I tried to read the first but it was so terrible to me that I couldn't get past the first chapter, but I think that stuff should be let go. How else will you be surprises if it followed the books? :D
Bill without Sookie is a much more enjoyable character than Bill attached to Sookie. Never really liked his character in the first 2 seasons, but he suddenly got interesting when he was abducted in s3.
Jason finally might be getting interesting. I was always annoyed by his incredible stupidity and lazyness. But this could turn out to be fun.
The Arlene's baby plot already was annoying last season, it only got worse so far. Sam is okay for me right now. And they brought in THE SHIVA as his his love interest. Far more annoying is Tara, a character I loathe for quite some time now.
I liked this episode better than the premiere of this season (which seems to be a common oppinion). Yet, there was something missing. Or something seemed weird. Well, the 4th book is my fave so I knew right away that this season won't be my fave ... but well.
One thing I really liked was the flashback about Bill. First of all, I loved the British accent (can't help it). Also, I loved the different style and seeind how he handled things when Vampires were not common knowledge.
Pam outside with Jessica and Hoyt and all of those demonstrates was a good scene as well. I don't even really know why. Pam's lines for one, yes. But that's not all of what I liked. But it was a good scene.
I don't quite get what they wanna achieve with the Sam story arc ... (skin walkers. seriously? I mean. Come on ... seriously?? ... Though the idea "you have to kill a shifter" and "I am one because my mom died during my birth so it was technically speaking me who killed her" was quite a good one, tbh).
Oh, and I really don't like most of the Hotshot people. The kids, fine, yah. But the rest? Those scenes are the most difficult to watch for me 'cause I just don't get those people.
Also, I liked seeing Tara smile. I don't think that happened much last season, so that was a nice change.
This was a better episode than the premiere but True Blood needs to be a little more stingy with the Sheriff Andy appearances. When they use him too much the character gets extremely annoying.
i loved this episode even more than i did the premiere i still don't know how i feel about bill being King of Louisiana though and am kind of mad they killed sophie anne i was actually beginning to like her and she's supposed to be very important later on
well i wouldnt say it was horrid i loved the season 4 premiere probaly the best premiere of the series even then season 3 premiere just wasn't as good as episode 2
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Loved this episode after a somewhat slow start.

Thank God it picked up because that first episode was a bit too... exposition-y.
ReplyDeleteThere are some stories that are blegh, like Sam and Tommy connecting, and others that are boring, are we supposed to even care about Luna? Really?
And then there are characters that have yet to add any value, like Tara. Which is sad because I actually like her character.
Mostly I was worried that none of these stories would converge, but I'm glad I was wrong about that and it's already making some leeway in that sense.
(Also was Eric in more scenes than Sookie? I suppose not but he feels so prominent this season.)
I agree about the premiere!

Well, in the books Eric is the second most important character, after Sookie. This season is supposed to be his season.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I like the story line in the books so much better. Not everybody has some huge story line.
ReplyDeleteThat said, this episode was so much better than the first.
The actress who plays Tara still looks like she's going to cry every five minutes. She really needs to work on that.

I'm okay with that, if it means we get to see more Pam :D
