Really enjoyed tonight's,episode (Hank and Marie's scene were absolute gold and it was heartbreaking seeing Jesse finally break down at the end). I do feel though that the premiere was marginally stronger.
I thought it was a super solid episode, the premiere being marginally better; it was just so dark. I agree, Walter is going to get himself killed! He's just being reckless. Wonder what is going to happen with Skylar trying to buy the carwash. Personally, I am completely and utterly annoyed and disinterested in Hank and Marie's situation. Hank's being a fucking crybaby. It's soo awful. Hope they change that quick. And Jim Beaver!!! Awesome character cameo he made. Loved it.
Could not agree more about Hank and Marie. Honestly she never did much for me other than provide a way to get more Skyler time, but Hank scenes used to be interesting.
Now I understand rehab and almost dying changes a man, but with all the darkness around Wal and Jesse, I think ever more tragic darkness with Hank is almost too much. I hope he can start to come around and be kick ass Hank again. Not necessarily running around, but in personality.
A new Better Call Saul commercial! That alone would be reason enough to love the episode. But Badger & Skinny Pete also provided some much needed comic-release, because the rest of the episode was pretty dark again.
Hank & Marie don't annoy me so far. But things need to change between them some time soon, otherwise I can see how this can get quite boring.
So far I don't see Walt being the danger as proclaimed in the season 4 trailers. He's being reckless and not thinking everything through. Just coming to Gus' house in the middle of the night and then asking Mike to help him. Surely Mike isn't happy about what happened to Victor and going through something himself, but to expect that he would turn on Gus so easily was not well thought through.
Aaron Paul was awesome this episode! I can see this as a possible Emmy submission episode for him already. He just doesn't want to be alone right now, but on the other hand he's pushing Andrea away although he definitely cares for her.
I'm getting tired of Walter's lack of interaction with his family, he only talks with his wife. He has a son, a new born and brother-in-law broken and in pain. I want to see how his actions are breaking apart the family.
I'm confident that we will see more of that through-out the season. Right now they were dealing with the aftermath of the s3 finale and now Walt is fearing for his life. We have 11 episodes left, plenty of time for Walt to deal with his family.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteFun to see Jim Beaver. It's nice to be reminded how great a character actor he is after some of the lighter weight stuff he's done recently.

Andrea!! Emily Rios, sweet with the kid, a family for Jesse pleaseeee
ReplyDeleteOnly voted OK this time. I liked all the Walt scenes but especially Jesse's party was a bit annoying. And seeing Hank walk like that broke my heart :(
ReplyDeleteHow can you not love how Aaron portrayed Jesse's feelings in this episode?
ReplyDeleteThe final scene was just marvelous.
lol yep, but I just didn't like the party... happens :)
