The Office - Steve Carell thinks James Spader will be excellent

Steve Carell may have left “The Office,” but he has a few things to say about the replacement for Michael Scott – James Spader’s Robert California.

“I think it’s an excellent choice,” Carell told Access Hollywood on Monday of the new addition to the Dunder Mifflin group. “I think it’s great and he will infuse all this new energy into the show.”

Carell, who was promoting his upcoming film “Crazy, Stupid, Love.” during the interview, said his former “Office” mates were also pleased with Spader joining the crew.

“In talking to the cast, everyone’s very excited and I know it’ll be a good season,” he said.
