Kristin Chenoweth is kind of bummed about "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy's plan to do season 3 of the show without guest stars, but the pint-sized acting, singing, dancing powerhouse says she understands.
"I think he's trying to get his show back," Chenoweth tells Zap2it. "I think he's trying to really concentrate on his characters. I actually understand that. I get it. People want to see those characters."
Still, if ever a guest star fit in, it was Chenoweth. Sadly, it looks like we won't see her back at McKinley High for at least one season.
"Of course it's a bummer for me because I love April Rhodes," says Chenoweth. "But he needs to get his show back, so I get why he's doing that."

This is a little sad that we won't see April this season!
ReplyDeletemmm I don't really care about her, honestly... :/
ReplyDeleteI'm quite happy about this... I've never really liked her character...
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame, I loved her in both Glee and Pushing Daisies
ReplyDeleteI just hope that New Directions are going to win the nationals this year. Third time's a charm, they say.
ReplyDeleteI actually don't care too much about her character. However, I'd rather they got rid of Lauren, she's annoying the hell outta me.
ReplyDeletehe needs to get his show back? lol thats weird
ReplyDeleteBUT YEAH! april was fine ONCE and i have a hard time rewatching her episode so i couldnt care less
It's sad but completely understandable given the storylines...
ReplyDeleteI loved her back when she first appeared, but her other appearences where sort of boring IMO (and I adore Chenoweth, so it was very weird for me not to like her episodes). But still, it´s sort of strange not to have her back for at least one episode.
ReplyDeleteWhat's this about no guest stars? I hope that the idea is used sparingly. No big celebrity appearances please, but Coach Bieste, Becky, or even Sam apparently, should all be welcome back.
ReplyDeleteI mean, I was as vocal about getting rid of special guest stars as the next guy (probably more so since I wrote an article about the subject), but that's when you have characters like April Rhodes or Holly Holiday hijacking the episode from the regular cast members.
That's a shame. She's a guest star I actually liked.
ReplyDeleteSam is likely gone according to most reports....
ReplyDeleteOver-reaction by Murphy if you ask me. Guest stars were not the problem. The problem was how he used his guest stars and how frequently he had tribute episodes.
ReplyDeleteWell, never let it be said Murphy isn't dramatic.....
Yeah the reports did not sound promising. Murphy does that a lot. Off-screen farewells to Ken Tanaka, the other male singer who wasn't Mike Chang in S1, and now Sam. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteI think what REALLY turned me off Glee/him is when he flipped out about Kings of Leon refusing to let him cover their work. First of all, it's THEIR work. They can do WHATEVER they want with it. It's their intellectual copyright. Second of all, besides telling them "f@*k you", he was yelling that Glee is about getting kids into music/saving lives/promoting positive values. Wtf? This is a show in primetime. It isn't necessarily family friendly with all of its dark and sexual humour. Yes, it has gotten kids into singing, but it isn't like Glee is the saviour of the modern world. He think all together far too much of himself.
ReplyDeleteApril was great in season 1, but then season 2 came along. It was the season of pointless stories, out-of-character moments, stupid dialogue.. They brought her in for publicity's sake, and her appearance was pointless.
ReplyDeleteIt might be weird, but that's even making me happy. A little bit. I just ... never really liked April. At all. So I'm glad she won't appear this season.
ReplyDelete... but how the hell can they introduce Sam & Mercedes as a couple within the last 5 minutes of Season 2 and then get rid of Sam for season 3? I just don't get it. And I'm praying for it to be wrong ... most of all for Mercedes' sake ... come on, she deserves to finally have someone who makes her happy.
ReplyDeleteGlee is one of those shows where promises are made on-screen and off, only to be broken fairly quickly. Tina/Mike were supposed to be short-term with promises of a Tina/Artie reunion. Rachel/Finn were supposed to be together all S2. Mercedes/Sam looked like they were getting together. It's good to be so fluid about things, but at the same time, they're so final in their fluidity. They write things as possibilities, only to reject the, 100% when it comes to later payoff.
ReplyDeleteI still don't understand what this (the guest stars thing) has to do with making a better season.
ReplyDeleteThey're more interesting than "now series regular" Mike Chang!
Thank God! I hate her voice and I hate her!
ReplyDeleteWhat? How can you hate Kristin? She's so tiny and adorable.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness. I only liked her in her first appearance and that's all. I see someone coming and making an appearance because Ryan might want to have someone come on.
ReplyDeleteWith Chenoweth on GCB at a rival network (ABC) her schedule, and possibly the network, wouldn't allow it to happen anyway.
