The two men who brought author George R.R. Martin’s fantasy series to life on the small screen admitted they were in shock when the Emmy nominations were handed down, of which their show received 13 nods including ones for Casting, Costume, Directing and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister.

In the run up to the Emmys, the producers and stars of the show will be filming in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Iceland, and D.B. said the second season will bring the drama.

“There will be blood,” D.B. told Access.

Continue after the jump for more on Season 2 including notes on name changes, changes from the book and the producers reaction to being nominated for Emmy Awards.

  1. Personally I don't see why they need to change Asha to Yara or some other name. On paper the names sound familiar, but when the names are said in different continents with different surrounding casts I would think most people could separate Osha and Asha easily enough.

  2. *waves* Hai! I think I'm over the overwhelming amount of STV content I've missed these last two weeks. Why not just dive back in with the latest stuff instead of being overwhelmed even more xD?

Anyway, I agree completely. I mean, on the one hand, I understand a little bit in that the names sound more similar when spoken aloud than when seeing an O or an A on paper. On the other hand, the characters, the locations, the accents, and the look of the actresses are all rather different. Robert Arryn becoming Robin Arryn really didn't matter. This does a little.

As people over at winter-is-coming have said... Yara is a rather gross name.

Yeah there has a been a ton of stuff just in the last week alone with Comic-Con going on....No it doesn't matter and I'm not against it per se... I just don't see the need... much like Robert Arryn to Robin Arryn.

  4. I've kept mostly up to date on all of the GoT stuff via westeros and winter-is-coming, so I'm not super behind on that front. What with the re-read and all, I've been pretty on top of most things GoT related.

They could probably just put something before the A. Like, Yasha, Tasha, Masha.

  5. SpoilerTV actually had better Comic-Con coverage than WiC! More, updated faster, more videos and photos of the group. Though, I think their wrap-up covered everything but the photos.

I could handle Consonant + Asha. I will be ok with Yara in the end regardless, but I can't help but wonder and whine in the meantime.

Hmmm.. I may have come across my third favorite 'accidental band name' this season... "Wonder and Whine".
