Yay for Melissa McCarthy!
ReplyDeleteGood lord! I won't know who to root for! Friday Night Lights is the only one I don't watch. Game of Thrones would be good to win. I can't believe they cancelled it!
ReplyDeleteI don't think they cancelled Game of Thrones or did I miss something?
ReplyDeleteDrama looks good but jeez, comedy remains the Emmys biggest weakness.
ReplyDeleteOUTRAGES! FRINGE, JOHN NOBLE GOT SCREWED AGAIN TO BUT IT MILDLY. OBVIOUSLY WHOEVER VOTES DOESN'T APPRECIATE QUALITY TELEVISION.
ReplyDeleteNo NPH? WTF was that crap? He should take Jon Cryer's spot.
ReplyDeleteBut yay for Melissa! I loved how freaked out she got up there.
Johnny Galecki was very WTF. I'm mostly happy with these nominations.
IF STEVE CARELL DOESN'T WIN THIS YEAR, I SWEAR I WILL BURN UTICA TO THE GROUND.
There's quite a lot of quality television in the drama category.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the other drama categories?? When they will be announced??
ReplyDeleteThoroughly predictable, but glad GoT made it on the list!
ReplyDeleteGood for Melissa McCarthy and Tina Fey, but no Lauren Graham again??? The Emmy people certainly are not only looking out for the best actress... anyway, congrats to all the nominees!
ReplyDeleteIs this the first time the CW got an emmy nomination? (Nikita)
ReplyDeleteYes! Elisabeth Moss & John Hamm really need to win the lead actress/actor catergories. Plus Game of Thrones for Best drama. FOUR actors from Modern Family
ReplyDeletenominated for Supporting actor? Really? It was a great year for Jason
Segel on HIMYM He deserved a nod. No love for Fringe either,
That sucks. Just because its SciFi. Anna Torv and John Noble were
brilliant this year as was this season.
Louis CK got nominated? I can't believe it, so far FX comedies have been snubbed completely.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'd also like to mention that I called Dinklage's nomination before GoT started airing.
All in all pretty much what was to be expected.
They didn't. It was picked up for a second season just a few days after the pilot aired.
ReplyDeleteyep, for acting, writing and editing!
ReplyDeleteJeremy Davies, Joan Cusack, Margo Martindale, Peter Drinklage, Enos, Michelle Forbes, Timothy Olyplant. I liked many, but i also hated the comedy-categorys. No noms to Community, and no Cougar Town!
ReplyDeleteHow can you nominate three actors from the show and not nominate the show? Justified was robbed! Dexter? Seriously? Last season was AWFUL!
ReplyDeleteHave to agree with Cortexitfan, considering that in the best drama category with Dexter getting a nomination, as it was overall poor season. Secondly Mariska Haritay best female actress? I can't help but feel that Fringe has been snubbed
ReplyDeleteThe Emmy`s fucking hates FX. Justified should have got a best drama, and where is Katey Segal? Jesus, Segal is probaly the most strongest female lead in a drama i have seen the last couple of years.
ReplyDeleteQuite the surprise that Louis CK was nominated and so deserved. But the Community snub completely negates that.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Dexter's nomination as best drama is laughable (albeit expected). Put Justified in there, and the category is absolutely perfect.
ReplyDeleteFX shows are pretty much all something different and that's something the Emmys just don't like.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell? Archer didn't get a nomination for best animated show? But The Cleveland Show did? Yeah, says it all.
ReplyDeleteI would have at least hoped for a Danny Pudi nomination. I mean come on, Pudi & Offerman (although not Community) were fucking awesome, would have deserved to be nominated.
ReplyDeleteThe Drama nominations were good, or at very least expected, but they did a lot of bad things in the Comedy categories.
ReplyDeleteYeah that's what I thought!
ReplyDeleteArcher was the best animated show last year, period. And South Park got nominated for Crack Baby Athletic Association? Was one of my least favourite episodes so far this season. 'You're Getting Old' would have been a worthy episode.
ReplyDeleteWhat the emmey consider as best TV in both the comedy and drama category is limited to the Trad sense. Anything push the boat it really up against it. Might be way the viewing figure for emmey is going down
ReplyDeleteyay - mariska hargitay!
ReplyDeleteWow, I totally expected to see some True Blood nominations in there. Not because I think they deserve it (sorry, but I don't), but because I just thought they'd get at least one nomination (help me out here: Did they have any last year? Sorry for that stupid question :S ).
ReplyDeleteAlso, there's some shows I might wanna look into. 'Cause I keep hearing / reading about them wherever I go online. I guess I'll wait for the winners to be announced and then I'll see.
Oh, and yay for Melissa McCarthy!
I totally agree with you and Cortexifan!!!
ReplyDeleteCan I just say how excited I am for Melissa McCarthy?
ReplyDeleteHurrah, Game of Thrones gets recognized!
ReplyDeleteI've never watched Modern Family but maybe I should since 4 of it's actors are nominated in 1 category :O
ReplyDeleteSad that John Noble, Emilia Clarke, Yvonne Strahovski and Anna Torv where not nominated :(
Very annoyed about the fringe snub, the Emmy's really need to get over their aversion to SciFi
ReplyDeleteReally pleased with all the Good Wife love. It's yet again the only network show to get nominated. Disappointed that Kadee Strickland didn't get nominated for best supporting but that is always the hardest category because there are so many awesome actresses that qualify.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm very upset that Nick Offerman didn't get nominated. The man is brilliant as Ron Swanson.
ReplyDeleteI don't thing True blood have been nominated before, Emmy have in recent year snubbed cable TV shows in general....
ReplyDeleteThey always put shows up that traditionally get nominated even after weak seasons, like how many times House has been nominated.
ReplyDeleteI believe True Blood was nominated for best drama in 2010.
ReplyDeleteI believe True Blood was nominated for best drama in 2010.
ReplyDeleteThey have a really difficult time picking the right comedies, don't they?
ReplyDeleteThe nominees this year are quite strong so I'm not surprised he's not there. But he probably should have been.
ReplyDeleteI dont understand. Why give only Steve Buscemi and Kelly McDonald an award for the actors on Boardwalk Empire? Michael Shannon is fantastisc, so is Pitt. Jack Huston is also pretty good guest actor on the show, he is no supporting in season 1.
ReplyDeleteTHE EMMYS SUCK! THEY HAVE NO IDEA JUST HOW GOOD A SHOW LIKE FRINGE REALLY IS!
ReplyDeleteWhat nomination did they get?
ReplyDeleteAnd I believe SPN has 2-3 nominations, I think that happened when they were on the WB.
It just kills me how they completely ignore all things Community. That show is incredible and is getting absolutely no attention.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more about Fringe. It DESERVED to be nominated in drama and if not drama then acting for Torv and Noble.
ReplyDeleteAlso very pissed that Joel McHale got snubbed again! I understand Parsons, but Galecki? REALLY?????
That is good news! I'm happy to be wrong!
ReplyDeleteIn the nicest way :)
ReplyDeleteWhat's the excuse for next year?
I'm fairly content... I think that minus Kathy Bates (who's generally awesome, but I doubt she'd get nominated for Harry's Law if she weren't Kathy Bates) and the Kennedy's, the rest of the noms are rather worthy. Some omisions that do bother me but over all, it's gonna be a tough year IMO.
ReplyDeleteTimothy Olyphant, if he dont win, i will sell my soul next year ..nuff said
ReplyDeletei think it was sound or something not sure something technical
ReplyDeleteDamn good list in my opinion. I would have only changed one or two nominations overall.
ReplyDeleteConnie Britton out - Katey Sagal InSupporting Actress in a Drama
Jon Cryer out - Neil Patrick Harris in - Supporting Actor in a Comedy
NAthan Lane out - Timothy Dalton in. - Guest Actor in a Comedy
Well, and I would have changed KAthy Bates as Harriet Harry "Korn" ot Kathy Bates Harriet "Harry" Korn... seeing as Korn is her last name but "Harry" is her nickname and the name of the series.....
yep, Outstanding Sound Editing For A Series
ReplyDeleteThey cancelled Camelot. Same swords and armor - VERY different series.
ReplyDeleteThis biggest joke is supporting actor in a comedy... I mean come on. That list looks boring even to the Modern Family cast I would think.
ReplyDeleteEmmys just appear so flat on variety, it's an absolute snoozefest.
Plus, everything I've heard about The Kennedys was it was terrible so how does it have so much love here?
Agreed on BSA Comedy category, but otherwise I liked the nominations. VERY few I would have changed.
ReplyDeleteThe Kennedys was better than I thought it was going to be, but not great. I think the main problem people had was the content and it's portrayal of the family.
Game of Thrones has 15 Emmy nominations! 15!!!!
ReplyDeleteMost are in technical categories of course - Here is the list.
est Drama Series: Game of ThronesSupporting Actor in a Drama Series: Peter Dinklage as Tyrion LannisterWriting in a Drama Series: David Benioff and Dan Weiss for “Baelor”Directing in a Drama Series: Timothy van Patten for “Winter is Coming”Casting in a Drama Series: Nina Gold and Robert SterneCostumes for a Drama Series: Michelle Clapton and Rachael Webb-Crozier for “The Pointy End”Hairstyling in a Single-Camera Series: Kevin Alexander and Candice Banks for “A Golden Crown”Main Title Design: Angus Wall, Robert Feng, Kirk H. I think its awesome Game of Thrones and Peter Dinklage were recognized...
ReplyDelete...but Community and Fringe/Anna Torv got nothing!? That is ridiculous.
Honestly I thought Fringe would be lucky if it got John Noble nominated (and some technical nominations of course). Anna is in too tough a category (and honestly may not have deserved it)... and I love FRINGE!
ReplyDeleteI think Community is an acquired taste too. I have tried to watch it 4 or 5 times and I never get through a full episode before turning it off. I just don't care for it (not a put down since many like it). Maybe the Emmy nomination group is the same way?
Community, just like FX comedies (or basically all FX shows) are just out of the mainstream. They all are outsiders, but more or less unique and attract a niche clientele. And apparently the Emmys don't really like that.
ReplyDeleteI'm just surprised Louie got some Emmy recognition.
No Neil Patrick Harris?Nothing from HIMYM?Not awesome.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the respected his driving force behind the entire series? If he writes most of it and does directing etc.. Dunno. I have never watched it since I disliked the ads so much during my FX series I do watch! XD
ReplyDeleteI plan to try it one of these days though....
CK does pretty much everything on this show. So maybe you're right and that's what he got recognition for.
ReplyDeleteYou disliked the promos? Hmmm, I really liked them. But while we're often on the same page when it comes down to dramas, I think our tastes regarding comedies are rather different.
Also a bit disappointing that Norman Reedus didn't get nominated. It was clear to me that the Walking Dead wouldn't get any nominations in the important categories (I think they got 3 in some technical categories) since even though I like the show a lot there are better shows and better actors out there.
ReplyDeleteBut Reedus was really great and would have deserved a nomination as guest star.
I think he made my list, but the best supporting dram and best guest drama categories are always tough!
ReplyDeleteI was happy and pleasantly surprised Walter Coggins got a nod!
I'm hit or miss with comedies and have no aversion to a laugh track like many. So I enjoy some of the "big" comedies on CBS and ABC, but not others....
ReplyDeleteDrama wise though, yep, we're usually pretty much in line.
He didn't submit himself as supporting actor, but as guest star. No way
ReplyDeletehe would have made the supporting actor's list, but as guest star he
would have earned it.
Joel Kinnaman would have been a nice addition to the supporting actor's
list. Thought he might have a shot, because Aaron Paul isn't available
this year and he reminded me a bit of a good guy version of Jesse
Pinkman.
You're right Anna is in a very tough category, I was just holding out hope because this season of Fringe was spectacular.
ReplyDeleteThat's true, Community is, as you said, an acquired taste that once you have you hold it above many others. I just wish more shows were recognized instead of the 4 Modern Family people nominated for Supporting Actor. That's a good show, but I don't think it deserved all of them being nominated.
To each their own I suppose.
No love for Fringe, well this is a travesty!
ReplyDeleteAs usual NCIS is shut out. At least they have their ratings, I guess.
ReplyDeleteI liked both the Dixon brothers for Guest, but wasn't sure either would make it.
ReplyDeleteKinnaman I would have loved to see get a nod. His problem was being a new face to US voters I bet... plus a crowded category.
Like I said elsewhere. How can you be the best supporting actor on all of TV if you may not be the est supporting actor on your own series?
ReplyDeleteFour nominations in one category is 2 too many for any series!
For anyone that is interested.

ReplyDeleteHouse wasn't nominated this year or last year, just Hugh Laurie. And he should win the emmy for being able to act his way through the crap they've written for him the past three seasons, especially this last one.
ReplyDeleteNo Jim Rash from Community and no It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. It's a damn travesty.
ReplyDeleteVery good point! They should institute some limitations on how many times a show can be nominated for a category.
ReplyDeleteIf my count is correct, John Noble has played at least six different versions of the same character this season. Each one is vastly different and unique, but still undoubtedly the same character. Further, each version is thoroughly developed and well acted, with clear motives and a vast range of emotions. Additionally, Anna Torv has done the same with at least four versions of her own character, equally as well as Noble. Face it, this was the season for Fringe to be nominated. If it didn't happen this year, it never will. Fringe DID get nominated in one category, however: the multimedia accompaniment of their Divisions website (the one category that has nothing to do with the show itself).
ReplyDeleteOf the shows nominated that I watch, I honestly don't care that much about weather they win or not, or in some cases I do not think their seasons were strong enough to be worthy of a nomination. I'm glad I decided to watch all of Mad Men this summer; otherwise I would have nothing in the drama category to root for (I think season four is its best season yet, although it has won every year in the past so I'm guessing the award will go to a different show. However, I would like to see Jon Hamm or Elisabeth Moss win). As for comedies, Community also deserved SOME nominations, although I think it is a slightly overrated show so I'm not completely surprised by its absence. I would love to see Parks and Recreation win some awards! Also, Steve Carrell needs a win badly! The show is not what it once was, but his character has consistently been one of the most memorable on TV and he deserves recognition for his time as Michael Scott. Also, he was absolutely fantastic in the "Goodbye Michael" episode.
Thanks for that list darq....this just shows ridiculous this whole process is, that with so many nominations that people are still complaining about snubs.
ReplyDeleteWell guess what so am I.
The biggest injustice was to John Noble from Fringe. That is just plain LAME.
Come on voters, pull your heads out your A$$$$$es
K. I am done :)
They have a really difficult time picking the right comedies, don't they?
