Hey guys,
Show runner Steven Moffat has declared that The Doctor would be unsuitable for the more Adult Torchwood...
"The Doctor could never go to Torchwood," Moffat told TVLine. "[Torchwood executive] Russell [T Davies] and I both agree on that. Doctor Who has a tremendous relationship with children in Britain. They'd want to watch Torchwood then, and it's not really a children's show."

As much as it is a shame, he is 100% right.
ReplyDeleteApparently you can bring Torchwood to The Doctor but not The Doctor to Torchwood.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I don't want to see the Doctor on Torchwood - I want to see Captain Jack on Doctor Who!
ReplyDeleteMakes sense. Jack, however, should totally go back to Doctor Who occasionally. The Doctor is so important to him it makes sense that way.
ReplyDeleteIt is a shame but I totally understand and agree
ReplyDeleteBecause Jack was created for Doctor Who.
ReplyDeleteAgree, he's right! But I really want to see Captain Jack Harkness back on Doctor Who!
ReplyDeleteAs long as we get to see Captain Jack on Dr Who occasionally, I'm fine with this!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping they bring him on DW soon though so he can meet the new doctor and I heard there's some big anniversary for the show coming up so it'd be great if he was back for that.
I thought we knew that?
ReplyDeleteIt's the show's 50th anniversary in November 2012 :D
ReplyDeleteRTD said exactly the same thing when he was in charge, and I have to say I agree.
ReplyDeleteThis illuminates the one (albeit small) downside for American fans of Doctor Who - it's the all-ages, family friendly perception of Doctor Who that is cemented to the franchise in the UK that's not necessarily the case in the US. For a Briton, this is perfectly understandable. For Americans who were never exposed to the classic Doctor Who as a children's program it's still understandable but probably more disappointing.
ReplyDeleteAs an adult, North-American fan of Doctor Who... do we really need more adult material? The show has never felt like it was censored to me.
ReplyDeleteDoctor Who is fine. This isn't about that show. This is about The Doctor not appearing on Torchwood. That's the limitation - because of the association between the Doctor and children's programming.
ReplyDeleteWell maybe the Tardis can make a cameo? LOL
ReplyDeleteno he isn't, torchwood characters merged into doctor who, if theres something wrong with doctor who being on torchwood is wrong then how come torchwood can go on doctor who? wouldn't kids still wish to watch it then?! and+ if doctor who is a childhood hero then why did they take it down such a darker path this last season with the creatures they keep referring to as the silence, they stated they made those creatures to be darker, and scarier.
ReplyDeleteyes but still, they told the people watching what jack was a part of, and anyone can easily get curious from that and see if theres a show called torchwood. and if your going to argue "kids wouldnt think of that" BULL, i know of plenty of kids who started watching torchwood because it was in doctor who.
ReplyDeleteokay so torchwood can be in doctor who, where kids watch the show, but yet, the show they DONT think kids watch, cant have the doctor? that makes no sense, i would think kids would more easily start watching torchwood because it was in doctor who, they wouldnt start watching it because the doctor was in torchwood, HOW WOULD THEY EVEN KNOW if they dont watch torchwood already?!
