Covert Affairs - 2.07 - Half A World Away - Advance Review

It was hinted at last year. All the fans wanted it. Chris Gorham said that it would be cool if they ever got around to it.

What a difference a year makes. Covert Affairs is now a hit show and tomorrow night fans finally get to see how Auggie lost his sight. The episode starts off with Auggie vacationing in Istanbul at a Jazz festival; where he hears something he'll never forget, the voice of the man who blinded him. As he searches for this voice, we get flashbacks to Auggie's Special Forces unit in Iraq, where he tragically loses his sight.

Compared to "Communication Breakdown" which was last year's Auggie episode, "Half A World Away" is taut and elegantly restrained--more Jazz than Rock n' Roll. In a change of pace, Annie acts as phone support for Auggie, even though she doesn't know what Auggie is really after, revenge.

Guest appearances include FBI Agent Rassabi from the pilot episode and, for you Lost fans, Charlotte makes a nice turn as Auggie's, I dare say, Bond Girl.
It's a can't-miss episode.

Covert Affairs airs Tuesdays at 10pm on the USA network.

  2. I'm forming a theory....

The amount of Auggie in an episode is directly proportional to the odds of said episode being a great episode....

    Looking forward to this.

  3. I see no flaws in your theory.
