Thanks to Bruce_F for the heads up!
EXCLUSIVE: A couple of weeks ago, Deadline reported that USA Network was finalizing a series pickup of the comedic buddy cop comedy Common Law. And now it has: USA has ordered 11 episodes to begin production next month in New Orleans. The twist on the cop series stars Michael Ealy and Warren Kole, who play wildly different personalities who are the elite team in the LAPD homicide squad until their constant bickering gets them put on probation. To fix their problems, their captain (Jack McGee) sends them to couples therapy. Common Law, from CBS Television Studios and Junction Entertainment, is executive produced by Cormac and Marianne Wibberley. Jon Turteltaub and Craig Sweeny are executive producers. Junction's Dan Shotz and Karim Zreik are co-executive producers. Turteltaub directed the pilot. "When CBS Television Studios sent us the script of Common Law, we immediately fell in love with the writing, the characters and the premise,” USA Network co-presidents Jeff Wachtel and Chris McCumber said. "We're very lucky to have the Wibberleys, Jon and Craig guiding the process on this show; and with Michael and Warren, we have two stars who bring out the best in each other." Common Law was one of three cast-contingent pilots ordered by USA last summer, along with Necessary Roughness and Suits (formerly A Legal Mind). The other two have already been picked up to series.

  1. Good. I like Michael Ealy and Warren Kole. Kole was great as a badguy in 24, and i can see before me him playing a cop again like in Chicago Code. Just this time more of an detective. Jack McGee to is nice, loved that guy in Rescue Me.

  2. I liked Ealy a lot in Sleeper Cell. FlashForward he kind of bored me honestly, but that show was so poorly written I can't blame him.

McGee is like the go to actor for older cop or fore captain... I swear! He was greta on Rescue Me... one of the  better moments of the series was his final plot (I don't want to spoil for anyone).
I forgot Kole was on 24... had to think about it and look him up... He was good tho once I recalled him. XD

  3. Yes, it`s really his kind of role(McGee). Most of the plots that character had i liked, even the thing with the crap in the women toilet. Sad to see Rescue Me go this season, i really like the actors on that show even tough the plot does not move forward. I like it even tough for it slow-paced storylines. Leary is somewhat a fantastic drama-actor id come to mind.

You know Steven Pasquale also has an USA-show comming up? Over/Under with Anthony Corrigan(Traveler/The Forgotten).

And yeah, Ealy character sucked on FF, but liked him in Californication as black jesus and Sleeper Cell. Kinda looking forward to an cop-show on USA. Necessary Roughness and Suits was spot on for me, and far better plot than White Collar and Covert Affairs for me.

  4. This does not sound interesting to me.  Probably won't check it out unless it gets really good work of mouth.

  6. Wow, it's like they hit every buddy-cop cliche in the book.

  7. Why do I get the feeling this is going to be a bickering version of Psych with badges?
