Your Emmy Picks 2011: Supporting Actress in a Drama Series

20 Jun 2011

Since there are still more than 3 weeks left I thought we'd slow this a bit down and post one poll each day.

We're continuing with Supporting Drama Actor & Actress and since we have manors here at SpoilerTV it's ladies first. Personally I think this is one of the hardest choices.
You can choose up to six people in each category. Also, who do you think should be nominated and who do you think will be nominated?
Sound off below in the comments after you've voted.

For comparison here are last year's nominees:

Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife) - Winner
Rose Byrne (Damages)
Christina Hendricks (Mad Men)
Sharon Gless (Burn Notice)
Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men)
Christine Baranski (The Good Wife)

You can still vote in previous polls:
Lead Actor & Actress in a Drama Series
Lead Actor & Actress in a Comedy Series

  6. Michelle Forbes was just terrific on The Killing, if she doesn't win an Emmy for this, I'd be disappointed.

  7. Definitely Archie Panjabi from "The Good Wife" ;)

  8. Sandra Oh, Christine Baranski, Sharon Gless and Michelle Forbes are my picks.

I don't think Lisa Edelstein should be nominated. While her character got a lot of air and storytime, not to mention skin time, I cringed at her scenes.

  9. Sara Ramirez should definitely be up for an emmy nom!

  10. Sara Ramirez (Grey's Anatomy)
    Jessica Capshaw (Grey's Anatomy)

For me it's between Margo Martindale and Michelle Forbes...

  12. Michelle Forbes (The Killing)
    Sandra Oh (Grey's Anatomy)

  13. Margo Martingale — Justified.
    Jennifer Carpenter — Dexter.
    Kelly MacDonald — Boardwalk Empire.
    Michelle Forbes — The Killing.

Margo Martingale owned her role in Justified. I did not recognize the same actress I saw on Dexter (she guest-starred on the show during the first 3 seasons), that proves she did a tremendous job.

Jennifer Carpenter deserves a nomination as well. I really think she improved her acting skills over the years on Dexter. Perhaps it's because her character gains more importance as time goes by or because the material is different and more appropriate for her to show her talent (in season 4 for instance, Deb was in the middle of some powerful, dramatic scenes). In season 5, she was important & had some great material as well. She would have deserved to win last year but I don't mind if she wins next September.

Michelle Forbes is a great actress as wel, she deserves recognition not only for her role in The Killing but also for all the great roles she had in great shows before. She always chooses the best series to work on : she starred in some seasons of Homicide, 24, In Treatment, Durham County, True Blood, and she appeared in BSG, Lost and Alias, that's quite a résumé.

Kelly MacDonald did a great job on Boardwalk Empire, standing up for/to Nucky. That's the only actress on my list I'm sure will actually get nominated, and I wouldn't mind at all if she were to win that Emmy, but she's not my favourite either.

Should get nominated as well :

    - Amy Ryan — Adele in In Treatment.
    - Jurnee Smollett — Jess in Friday Night Lights.
    - Laura Linney — Sophia on The Event.
    - Maggie Siff — Tara in Sons of Anarchy.
    - Holliday Grainger — Lucrezia in The Borgias.
    - Lauren Hodges — Tanya in Rubicon.

  14. Margo Martindale - Justified (Deserves the Win)
    Kelly McDonald - Boardwalk Empire
Michelle Forbes - The Killing (contender if Martindale does not win)
    Julia Stiles - Dexter
Michelle Fairley (Catelyn Stark) - Game of Thrones

  15. Jorja Fox from CSI has proven herself in the past 15 years that she is an enviable  and formidable TV star.  She can carry an entire episode and do it with great acting range.  She deserves some love after all these years on prime time TV.
