Eliza Dushku is making a trip to USA dramedy White Collar.
The actress, who starred in Fox’s Dollhouse, will appear in the ninth episode of the third season, creator Jeff Eastin revealed to The Hollywood Reporter.
But according to Eastin -- who, along with Dushku, hinted at the team-up last Friday on Twitter -- things aren't going to be perfect in the White Collar world by the time she comes around.
[Spoiler alert!] Things are headed for trouble between con man Neal Caffrey, played by Matt Bomer, and new love interest Sara Ellis, played by Hilarie Burton, midway through the upcoming third season, which launches next Tuesday at 9 p.m.
Eastin told THR that when Dushku appears, it’s at “a point where Neal and Sara have broken up.”
And that’s not all. She’s playing someone "who’s obviously very sexy,” Eastin coyly told THR, adding that her character is working for Matthew Keller (Ross McCall).
Surely that’s not the whole story, right? “She ends up having a short fling with Neal,” he teased.
If things go White Collar’s way, Dushku’s appearance may not be a one-and-done. “We did it in such a way that if it works out, we could bring her back,” Eastin revealed.
Eastin wrote on Twitter before the long Memorial Day weekend: "@markgoffman and I are spending the weekend tailoring next week's #WhiteCollar ep for @elizadushku . Wish us luck."

Noooooooooooooooooooo to a Neal/Sara break-up. Yay to Eliza Dushku!
ReplyDeleteI had just the opposite reaction. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees to their break-up. Nay to Eliza Dushku.
ReplyDeleteI really hope that Neal and Sara break up and don't get together again. Can't stand this pairing and her character. I admit that because of her, I fell out of love with the show a little.
ReplyDeleteDuring S1, I was obsessed with the show, because it was about Peter and Neal, about their friendship. But suddenly, there was UST and love-n-hate shipping and a Mary Sue who was cooler than the coolest kid in the class and... More than once I thought, what happened? This is not the show I signed up for!
Eliza Dushku on WC ... man that show can't get any better well unless they add her 2 the cast :) pretty please :) I would even gave up Hillarie for her even if I'm a big fan of both of them
ReplyDeleteTru Calling Back!
ReplyDeleteAre you people going to whine about every relationship Neal has? What could possibly suggest he'd go for women who aren't like Sarah? Eliza always played the independent tough girl roles, and she plays them so well that she doesn't usually have any other roles.
ReplyDeleteHasn't it occurred to you yet that the very reasons you keep whining about Sarah are the type of women Neal is attracted to? When he gets into another relationship, and trust me he will, then they new woman isn't going to be much different than Sarah.
I personally like Sarah. Her strong, take-no-shit attitude is still pretty rare for female characters in the industry. They have a tendency to mix "strong" with "crazy". Writers still seem to think that strong women have to have something wrong with them to offset it.
Here's the usual playbook for strong female characters. They can either be one of them or any combination.
Strong/Amorous (Sleeps around a lot)
Strong/Stupid (Honestly, male characters still dominate this one)
Strong/Emotionless (As if being strong requires you not to care)
Strong/Tomboy (WAY too common. Donna Pinciotti anyone?)
Strong/Emotional (Strong on the outside, emotional on the inside. Buffy Summers! Seems to be the case for most female leads these days)
Strong/Independent (Still VERY rare, mostly because this one is often combined with any of the others above, which effectively cancels it out. This is where Sarah goes)
So, after watching the entire series, what could possibly make anyone of you believe that even if he and Sarah break up, there won't be another one just like her down the line? Are you going to whine about EVERY relationship? That would get old pretty damn fast.
I don't care if Neal dates but seriously, the love of his life died, what? Six months ago? And he's already in a relationship? I could see him date, have casual sex, anything. Not jump into yet another relationship that fast, not after the writers turned Kate into the Holy Grail for him. Some people never, ever recover from losing someone they loved so much. And for Neal, a handful of months was enough? Doesn't fit the character at all.
ReplyDeleteAnd honestly, I don't like Sara. I hated the way she was introduced - smacking someone with a batton that's illegal in NY while Peter, who's all about law and order, was just grinning on the sidelines and later on running around the FBI headquarters in her pajamas, ordering everybody around? - and I still don't like her. Strong women don't eye-roll and belittle others while brainstorming. And within two episodes, Sara went from wanting to put Neal behind bars to making googly eyes on him? Strong female characters? Elizabeth and Diana, even that blond girl who punched the thief in The Portrait. Sara is a Mary Sue, plain and simple.
Your problem seems to be less with the character and more with double standards.
ReplyDeleteAs I recall, Neal slept with that art student the very day he got out of prison. I don't remember people whining about that.
How about his short-lived fling with Alex? Nope, no whining there.
As for her belittling others, as I recall she only does that to Neal. Considering she helped send him to prison it's not unexpected. You're complaining about the fact that she treats Neal with distrust and not a little bit of annoyance, AND you're complaining that she actually puts that aside and becomes interested in him at the same time. Make up your mind already, it's like you're fishing for reasons to hate her.
As for Neal moving on in six months. Did we watch the same episodes? At the end of the season, the Neal and Sarah dynamic was entirely physical while LEANING toward something more. It's certainly going in that direction, and if the promos between those two are any indication it's going to be steamy, but you're spending a lot of time making assumptions.
Whatever you saw in those final episodes, I didn't pick up on, and I pick up on a lot. Neal has not moved on from Kate, and I don't know what could have possibly made you think otherwise. It's more accurate to say he's TRYING to move on by letting things with Sarah progress, but he hasn't done it yet.
It seems like most people hate Sarah not because of anything she's done, but for the things she MIGHT do. Whether the breakup sticks or not, Sarah is going to play an important role in helping Neal move on and be happy without Kate.
Hating on her isn't going to change that.
well, yay for their break-up, nay for Eliza Dushku, as I want my big Neal/Alex sexy fantasy happening. like STAT.
ReplyDeleteUhm, no Neal has certainly not slept with June's granddaughter. ;)
ReplyDeleteBut I don't understand this Sara hate at all. She was barely there in the show and yet so many people are whining that she's taking away the bromance. What the heck? I suppose they didn't mind Neal obsessing over Kate over and over again during the entire 1 seasob...?
Katikat said she'd prefer him to have casual sex. It seems like she doesn't know Neal's character at all. He is not a person to sleep around, he is essentially a romantic. And he is dating Sara, they're not getting engaged or married. Dating is a kind of relationship in my book. Unless of course you mean dating everyone around. :/
With what art student? With June's granddaughter? Ha, I very much doubt that, sorry. With Alex? In the past when he wasn't together with Kate yet or when she broke up with him. The writers and even Matt Bomer himself said that Neal hasn't slept with anybody since he got out of prison, that's why they are all about the dating and getting laid now.
ReplyDeleteAs you might have noticed, I said that I hated the fact that Sara went from strong dislike to hot-n-bothered within a handful of eps. If they wanted to jump the shipping wagon so soon, they shouldn't have made her dislike of him so strong and tangible. No one does the 180 so fast when they dislike someone as much as it was shown in her case - he couldn't even open his mouth without having her belittle him in some way. I really don't get what's so attractive on a woman who needs to assert her dominance by putting down men in her vicinity. She did it with Neal, she did it with Jones, she over-ruled Peter in his own office and everybody simply went with it why exactly?
Do I have problems with double-standards? Ya betcha. If a man behaved the same way, he would have been a pig, sexist, misogyn, arrogant, rude etc. and so on - and when a woman does the same thing, she's strong these days? Wow, as a woman, I feel insulted. I wouldn't have tolerated her behavior one minute.
Yes, I have a problem with Sara and yes, I have a problem with the way the writers are pushing this ship - especially when they kept saying, since the first news of Sara appeared, that no, Sara wasn't Neal's love interest, reporters got it all wrong! A few eps later, a naked tango against the wall.
You obviously like her and this ship and good for you. I haven't disliked a female character this much since Bela Talbot on Supernatural and I really hope that this shipping will be just the tiniest part of the upcoming season.
Didn't you say you'd prefer Neal to have casual sex? lol What's wrong with naked tango then? ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's because I know Neal's character, I would prefer him to sleep around. As you said, Neal's a romantic. Dating is a big thing for him. And I just don't see him date, really date one woman only, so soon after losing Kate. To someone who loved someone else so deeply, that would feel like a betrayal. I can see Neal fulfilling his bodily needs, but not opening his heart. As you said, he's a romantic, people like him rarely recover from such a loss.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, did you read what I wrote? I said that I was miffed that the writers insisted on Sara NOT being a love interest - only to have her in a relationship with him before the words even left their mouths. I don't appreciate when writers outright lie.
ReplyDeleteWell, we will have to agree to disagree on that. ;) Because in my book romantics don't sleep around to fulfill bodily needs, it's just dirty.
ReplyDeleteNeal was devastated after Kate's death to the point of recklessnes. He reached a break point attempting to kill Fowler. I don't know how strong his motivation to move on is. We have no proof that he's so in love with Sara. I only saw attraction there that might grow into something more. I see in him a romantic trying to move on.
Yes! Best season 3 news since the Mozzie flashback episode spoiler. Don't care for Sarah but I love Keller and I'm fine with Dushku. As long as she's not taking up valuable space from the other characters, go for it.
ReplyDeleteMy issue is more of a cast thing. They already have too many recurring characters who don't get enough screen time. Never understood why they needed to add another character, especially when in my opinion she added little to the show that Alex couldn't have fulfilled.
ReplyDeleteI read what you wrote, seriously. Unfortunately, I can't comment on that since I never heard any statement of the writers saying she wouldn't be Neal's love interest or otherwise. I read an interview with Hilarie when she was about to join the cast and there was some questions about possible romance from what I can remember.
ReplyDeleteI am not a rabid fan of Sara/Neal pairing. I used to root for Alex/Neal but the writers decided to go in another direction. That direction proved just as interesting for me.
I don't care who Neal shacks up with as long as they don't take screen time away from characters I like and actually want to know more about.
ReplyDeleteI don't have anything against Dushku but this doesn't seem like a good fit.
ReplyDeleteI liked Dushku in other things, but I don't see her fitting well with the cast of white collar enough to become a repeating character..... I really like the Neal/Sarah romance!! Those characters have so much chemistry:)
