Early into the new season, which returns in October just in time for Halloween, Rick Grimes and our brave band of survivors will encounter a farming family that has been ravaged by zombies. Scott Wilson (In Cold Blood, Monster, Junebug) will play Hershel Greene. "He is the patriarch of the family," says executive producer Gale Anne Hurd. "He's a veterinarian with a great sense of humanity and a very unique take on the Walkers." Expect Hershel to endure great heartache as "not everyone in his family survives." Scott was chosen, says Hurd, because of his "tremendous scope and gravitas."

Farmer's daughter Maggie is among Hershel's fortunate few children who survive the zombie plague. "She's in her twenties and is a survivor who ends up as a romantic interest for Glenn (Steven Yuen)," says Hurd. With sci-fi vet Lauren Cohan (Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, and Chuck) cast in the role, Hurd says "Steven's very excited!"

    Wilson seems like an excellent choice for Hershel, I like it. Cohan looks okay for the role of Maggie, but it doesn't get me excited.

    I suppose that's understandable after her underwhelming role and performance on Chuck but they could of done worse.

    I simply don't know her, maybe watched 6 episodes of Chuck, Supernatural and Vampire Diaries combined. She looks okay for the role, but I just don't know anything about her.

    Oh.  Gotcha. 

    Well, in a nutshell, she was fantastic on Supernatural, she was good on TVD, and she was bad on Chuck but a lot of that was because the role she was playing was conceived and written so badly.

    As long as she can still do her American accent she should be fine on The Walking Dead.

    Nope, I liked her on Supernatural too.  I'm looking forward to watching season 1 of TWD and adding her to the cast is just a bonus.
